Linoone @ Petaya Berry
Timid, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Def
Gluttony

Substitute
Surf/Hyper Beam
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam

Here me out on this. After two substitutes, the petaya berry will activate, raising Linoone Special Attack to (with Max IVs) 298. Now I know that's not the best, however, Linoone's special movepool is, suprising, diverse.

What do you think?

If Starmie didn't have higher defenses, higher speed, STAB on two powerful special attacks (Surf and Psychic)...

Not to mention, Starmie can actually pull this set off exactly, except with again, higher defenses, speed, STAB and special attack. Except Starmie has better things it can do like Choice Specs... and recover.

Linoone seems to have only one use: Belly Drum + STAB Extreme Speed. Whether it can actually pull it off is a good question however.

So does Linoone. Like Belly Drum + Gluttony + Salac :D

There are too many better Special Sweepers in the game really, so there wouldn't be much point. In Adv this might've worked, as soon as you Sub, people would switch to something with good enough Physical Defence to hopefully take a Belly Drummed hit (Which is very unlikely!), or something that can Roar/Whirlwind you out. Then you could punish them with Special Attacks. But in D/P, Gluttony means that you don't need Substitute anymore, a straight Belly Drum activates Salac so you can have 3 Attacking moves. Could be a novelty surprise, but nothing more IMO.

He can't even hit 300 with a salac boost... (Modest 90 BP pokemon have 306) And doesn't get STAB... Why bother??? There's novelty, there's surprising, and there's just stupid.

Well, with the build I have, I went with the plus speed nature. But than again, the plus Sp. Attack nature would be neccesary for this.

In that case, the Sp. Attack after the berry would be 327

Which is still lower than Starmie's base Special Attack which maxes out at 328.

And Starmie isn't even the highest special sweeper. PorygonZ has 369 Special Attack naturally, with Nasty Plot to double that in a single turn. With Modest Nature, PorygonZ can reach 405 Special Attack, which is 810 after a single Nasty Plot.

Alakazam has the same Special Attack as PorygonZ, except no Adaptability or Nasty Plot. So his Special Attack stays at 405.

Frankly, 327 is a bit low, and is still suceptable to being walled by common walls. I know that because even Alakazam can't punch through Blissey's Special Defenses.

This is easily the worst idea this side of special attacking Kangaskhan. There's no "suprise" factor with SA linoone. It won't hurt anything, it will just under-utilize an already gimmicky pokemon.

There are so many Pokemon that can perform this job better. And even if they anticipate a physical Linoone, its attacks will still do crap damage.
