"Special" Offense

I'm heading back to college...tomorrow, actually, so I thought I'd post this team now rather than later when I'll likely forget about it completely. It's an offensive team, inspired originally by Astral Projection, but tweaked since then, so I'm not sure how much of it is the same anymore. There was originally a subtheme of each Pokemon being primarily a special attacker, but Azelf threw this out the window eventually.

Also, if my Laddering is any indication, this is the best team I've made since ever. Go me?

Onward!

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Levitate
6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly
- U-turn
- Explosion
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Typical suicide lead, I guess. I Taunt if I suspect support shenanigans, except for Bronzong, who has mostly caught on and Gyro Balls on turn 1. Otherwise I'll set up Stealth Rock posthaste and U-Turn out or blow up depending on how the planets are aligned. Or something. I U-Turn from Tyranitar and Deoxys leads on sight. Since lead Deoxys are almost always dual screen, no attack versions, I don't need to fear Shadow Ball. A lead Hypnosis ScarfGar is the only thing that it can't deal with somehow.

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Steadfast
6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Vacuum Wave

God, I love how (almost) all Lucario are physical now. Element of surprise = win. It used to hold Specs, but I got sick of having to switch out every other turn with it, especially since all but one of its moves can be immune'd by something. I bring this into Tyranitar leads after Azelf U-Turns to absorb the Dark move being thrown my way.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Levitate
136 Atk/204 Spd/170 SAtk
Hasty
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion

Or, "O hai Deoxys." Just enough speed to outspeed max +nature Deoxys-S, though I've been too lazy calculate how much damage it does. Makes a nice revenge killer for obvious reasons. Attack EVs guarantee a OHKO on Blissey with Explosion, but I haven't seen a Blissey in forever. Azelf U-Turns into this against lead Deoxys -- they usually Reflect first (understandable with the threat of Explosion), allowing me to finish them off with Shadow Ball. In the event they start with Light Screen, U-Turn does enough IME to make up the difference. I'm considering dropping Thunderbolt for Hypnosis since I don't use it much.

Porygon-Z @ Salac Berry
Adaptability
4 HP/252 Spd/126 SAtk/128 SDef
Timid
- Tri Attack
- Dark Pulse
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot

Credit for the set goes to Skiddle. EVs guarantee that its Substitutes survive Blissey and Cresselia Ice Beams barring Calm Mind or crits. HP lets it activate Salac on the third Sub. The plan is to switch into something that can't do squat to it, then sub and stat up. This unfortunately backfires sometimes when I meet something faster or that I can't OHKO.

Yanmega @ Wide Lens
Speed Boost
42 Def/216 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hypnosis
- Protect

I recently dropped some Speed after reading a post by a person the name of whom I forget who pointed out that max Speed Yanmega is pointless/10. Wide Lens because I got sick and tired of Air Slash and Hypnosis missing. Outspeeds Deoxys after two Speed Boosts and tears it a new one with Bug Buzz. Pretty standard otherwise.

Deoxys-S @ Expert Belt
Pressure
162 Atk/236 Spd/112 SAtk
Naive
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Superpower

Apologies for the inaccurate sprite, it was all PE2K had. Standard AFAIK. Outspeeds Jolly ScarfChomp, 2HKO's Blissey, etc. I'm considering swapping out Superpower for Brick Break to help get rid of Light Screen should it ever come into play. (If you haven't noticed, everyone except Azelf is special, not physical.)

So, yeah. There's my team. I can say that in the past I've had trouble with Bronzong/Metagross/Jirachi since I have no Ground or Fire moves to speak of. Surprise Scarfers can, well, surprise me and take out something I didn't want gone. Defensive stat boosters also give me a hard time -- I typically rely on taking them out before they get a chance to stat up, which isn't guaranteed.

You have absolutely nothing for Garchomp. Yes, you have quite a few Pokemon that can kill it, but you have nothing that can safely switch into its Outrage. You also have nothing to switch into Infernape or Heatran's Fire attacks, a Zapdos's Thunderbolt, or a strong Water-type attack, like a Gyarados's Waterfall. While there are indeed few opportunities to switch in, they will eventually get in, and at that point you're virtually forced to make a sacrifice. A bit of defense might help, and you should probably replace Porygon-Z, which seems to be the weak link. Heatran kills two birds with one stone, particularly the Scarf version, as it can take Outrages and Fire attacks. It also helps against Steel-types. Celebi can work somewhere on this team to take Electric and Water-type attacks, but still can't do much to Zapdos other than annoy it a bit, unless it's the Calm Mind version. You'll have to tinker with this team yourself.

It's always P-Z that has to be removed...

I don't suppose you'd believe me if I said that I haven't had a huge problem dealing with Chomp, would you? <_< The rest of your comment is perfectly true though. I was considering Heatran anyway, so I'll probably toss one in somewhere.

Wow, a special team. A Nasty Plot - Baton Passing Togekiss could work wonders, especially with Deoxys-e and Lucario who absolutely love to get that SpA boost. Hypno can also Baton Pass Nasty Plots, if you like surprises.
