Other Options
=============
Haze may be used over Clear Smog for deterring setup sweepers that rely on Substitute, mainly against Baton Pass teams. However, it is worse against Taunt Calyrex-S and due to Baton Pass teams not being seen often, inferior to Clear Smog in most cases. Pain Split can be used over Sleep Talk as an alternative recovery option that still can be used in Electric Terrain, though it leaves Alolan Muk unable to
List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical Attackers**: Due to Alolan Muk's middling physical defenses, it is forced out by popular wallbreakers like Koraidon, Swords Dance Arceus, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground, and Zacian-Crowned that can deal huge damage to Alolan Muk or even outright OHKO it. The latter two can especially switch in and set up freely.
**Gliscor**: Gliscor threatens to 2HKO Alolan Muk with Earthquake or can remove Alolan Muk's Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off. It also switches into Alolan Muk's Poison Jab and Knock Off freely once Toxic Orb is activated.
**Miraidon**: Miraidon's Hadron Engine blocks Alolan Muk's only source of recovery in Rest, preventing it from staying healthy and leaving it unable to check Calyrex-S. It also 2HKOes Alolan Muk with Electro Drift, though Miraidon dislikes getting its Heavy-Duty Boots removed.
**Trick Users**: Losing Heavy-Duty Boots from Trick users like Calyrex-S and Ribombee leave Alolan Muk prone to entry hazards, and forced to choose between Knock Off and Rest, with Calyrex-S taking advantage of Rest to set up Nasty Plot.
