[OVERVIEW]
-Most sets ignore Hitmonlee’s good special bulk in favor of all-out attacking
-Hitmonlee can come in on weak special attacks or after another Pokemon faints and spin away hazards
-Needs less offensive investment than Cryogonal or Kabutops to hit hard
-Excellent coverage in two moves
-Very useful support move pool
[SET]
Name: Specially Defensive Rapid Spinner
Move 1: Hi Jump Kick/Low Sweep
Move 2: Rapid Spin
Move 3: Sucker Punch
Move 4: Toxic/Stone Edge
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Limber/Reckless
Nature: Careful
EVs: 172 HP/252 SpD/84 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
-Unexpected because it is not offensively-focused like every other common Hitmonlee set is
-Hi Jump Kick hits very hard even without investment, higher still should you use Reckless
-Rapid Spin lets you utilize opponents that are more vulnerable to hazards, such as Magmortar and Moltres
-Resistance to Stealth Rock helps with Rapid Spinning, which Kabutops does not have
-Low Sweep is a more reliable option for the first slot that lets Hitmonlee support its team more and become less reliant on priority.
-Sucker Punch is illegal with Unburden so now you have a chance to use it; it is stronger than Hitmonlee’s other priority moves
-Toxic hits common switch-ins on the switch in, most notably Tangrowth, Uxie, and physically defensive Slowking, as well as Ghost-types wishing to make you hurt yourself, namely Spiritomb and Golurk
-Stone Edge can be used to hit Entei, Typhlosion, Magmortar, and Moltres very hard
-Limber is the preferred ability so Hitmonlee can maintain its speed and switch into Stun Spores
-EVs maximize the potential of Hitmonlee’s better defense stat letting it take a hit or two while outspeeding 16 Speed Neutral nature Uxie and 0 Speed Neutral nature Sigilyph
-Cannot serve as the main special wall for a team; its special defense is good, but not that good
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
-Body Slam can be used in the 4th slot if you prefer paralysis support over poison support.
-Blaze Kick for Escavalier
-Mach Punch/Fake Out for additional priority that is more reliable than Sucker Punch
-Close Combat for high power and perfect accuracy; the defense drops are highly undesirable though
-Rest + Lum Berry can be used if you feel Hitmonlee is getting worn down too quickly and you don’t need Toxic or Stone Edge
-Can learn Sunny Day and Rain Dance should that support be needed
-Pair with a physical wall to take physical hits for Hitmonlee
-Tangrowth, Qwilfish, and Aggron are good partners to Hitmonlee to soak up physical attacks
-Absol is a good partner to get rid of Uxie
-Emboar and Entei force out Escavalier with their Fire STABs
