I dont like entry hazards and I really dont like suicide leads, which means I dont like the current meta. So I decided to sit down and brainstorm a way to be able to effectively be worry free about hazard setters without the need to run a spinner (I dont like them either) and still be a team that doesn't rely on gimmicks or luck while still kinda having some off meta flair and pizzazz
Iron Crown @ Choice Specs
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tachyon Cutter
- Psyshock
- Volt Switch
- Focus Blast
Originally I had tried
and even
but none of them were effective in stopping Suicide leads like
. So I did some digging and stumbled across
. With the use of Specs I can effectively deal with most hazards setters turn 1 out speeding
and OHKO'ing
so they cannot reset webs. In addion to dealing with suicide leads Crown is able to break thru most SPD mons like
and OHKO everyones favorite
as well as many other of the metas top attackers. I lead crown 80% of the time due to these factors
Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic
Whats there I can really say about glowking that hasnt been said before. Hes (In my opinion) the best SPD mon in the meta, hes a tank you couple this with regenerator and chilly reception while being able to apply poison on switch and do setups with future sight to me this makes glowking one of the best mons to have in your defensive core. NOW with that being said I also like to swap in AV
if im feeling extra goofy but for the sake of this RMT im sticking with Glowking
Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Ruination
Once again another mon that I dont really need to go into in depth, hes big hes bulky and he can 2 hit with earthquake, set rocks, whirwind to break up setups/sub/priotect and do 50% hp chunks on switch-ins while walling pretty much every mon that glowking cant. overall tinglu is to me the glue that holds this team together
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn
- Gunk Shot
- Court Change
I went with the offensive pivot set so that I would be able to threaten
while still being able to have some form of hazard removal in court change with the ability to pivot into one of my defensive core if the need arises. At one point I was running
but realized that she had negative synergy with the whole concept of my team.
Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Roost
Dragonites role in this team is to act as a revenge killer and late game physical sweeper. Ive found that combining
's future sight with Espeed allows me to break sub/protect and push through stall mons while being able to roost/DD when the option is there. Earthquake is here to threaten
and others while being able to tank a hit here and there if need be (im human I mess up ALOT)
Zamazenta @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Fang
- Crunch
- Roar
Originally I was running Iron defense and treating
as a punching bag when i wasnt able to handle certain threats but came to the realization that all out would fit the team better with being able to run ice fang to hit
while also being able to effectively hit
and so many others. I do think that I would continue to run the Iron set with
just to keep things spicy and fun
This team does have some issues like getting swept by bulk up
(the 12 hour shift incident)
(the great will o wisping of october) and other mons with non meta movesets. HOWEVER Im willing to lose some games if it means I can play a game without hazards
