I thought it'd be fun to build a more balanced team around a speedy special attacker that I didn't have experience with like
and
and I ended up deciding to use a mon I hadn't used with Inteleon. However to make this work there were a few weaknesses of: inteleon: 's to cover. The first issue was the lack of any bulk, making it so that a defensive switch-in was necessary. This lead to the additions of 3 mons: Corviknight,
on the physical side, and
on the special side. The next thing to handle were the problem on hazards, and to handle that portion I landed on
and
to allow the rest of the team to operate freely. WIth that being said lets go through the entire team.
:
With access to a really good speed tier where it is able to outspeed mons like
and
and generally threaten teams with powerful special attacks; especially when amplified by the choice specs. To apply slightly more pressure on special walls like
as well as having access to the vortex through pivot moves to keep up momentum with its teammates. With tera water as well you can 2shot phys def av
, 2 shots
with vacuum wave (as well as having a coin flip to one shot
with rocks up, as well as having ice beam to do good damage into
, as well as oneshotting standard non av
sets. Finally is you encounter a rain team then inteleon is being given its own opportunity to apply huge pressure and win with the rain boost.
:
In this metagame where
and
are running around, Hazard Removal is more difficult now than it has ever been, so Cinderace is here to guarantee that hazards don't stay on our side. With having access to a powerful stab Pyro Ball as well to pressure pokemon like
and
as well this mon can serve the dual role of applying offensive pressure (like u turn on lead Samurott-Hisui: so less spikes can go up). To guarantee the maximum damage with everything being a stab hit as well Protean seemed like the ideal ability on this pokemon (plus you can avoid hits like shadow ball from
with court change shenanigans), and have this guy add to the offensive pressure of this team. Since there are certain circumstances where even with these pokemon speed control can be an issue it felt to have priority moves on a few pokemon, so sucker punch was the last move given to this cinderace.
:
Since Dragapult is a solid means for speed control, and can be run offensively with either physical or special attacking sets, if felt as if Dragapult checked off the two main offensive needs by acting as this teams physical breaker to cover up for what
can't handle offensively. For powerful stab attacks we are running both dragon darts as well as tera blast ghost so that two turns aren't needed to attack into the opponent ( which is what would happen if we were to run phantom force). Being able to 2 shot most of the tier; from
to even being able to one shot
as well as using u turn to initiate the vortex alongside
and
allowing for you to keep the momentum in the matchup. Finally in case you need a priority move to deal with things like a tera ghost
or to surprise a
in rain as well as just having another dark type move for an offensively potent typing in dark type moves.
:
With all of the aforementioned mons being on the fragile side of these things it felt important to have a mon that can allow them to regain some hp back after being chipped (through the form of wish passing) as well as being able to soak up a hit and
is the perfect mon for that role. Since the main utility of this pokemon is to be a physical wall (outside of into
) the first move added to this guy was scald to try and neuter the opposing physical attackers like
and
and really just any physical mon in the tier really. Flip turn was meant to both be a stab pivot move for a bit more chip as well as regaining the offensive leverage through a switch in into
or
. The last move we're running on this guy it tera fairy play rough. This serves two essentially utilities on this team. The first is just for the fact that fairy is a very good defensive typing in general. The second is to make sure that
; one of the biggest threats in the tier can be taken down with a stronger stab fairy type attack before it can just sweep you.
:
serves two essentially utilities on this team. The first is to be the secondary phys def check with rocky helmet as well to chip down physical attackers like
and
using the rocky helmet. The second utility was to be the defogger for this team. Obviously the main hazard removal on this team is supposed to be
however if you court change to the other side and allow for them to switch into one of their setters then you run into the same problem of hazards pressuring you now instead of just the opposition, so defog felt like an absoute necessity. With the ability pressure as well this pokemon can pretty quickly cut into the pp of things like spikes
without being truly threatented. With roost as well for recovery this pokemon can beat every set of
1v1 so long as it's not encore and also acts as one of the main checks into Iron defense Body press Zamazenta with the rocky helmet check. It also serves as a switchin to most
sets to try and use up its pp on malignant chain and shadow ball and slowly neutralize it as a threat.
:
The Bulk on
is something that at times feels impossible to overcome, and with a wish passer like
this statement feels even more true. In case the opposition doesn't have rocks and we want to pressure the opposition with rocks to pressure pokemon like
long term, and to help just chip down the walls of the opposition. To make sure that any set up sweepers like
,
, or
Don't get out of hand too quickly the second moveslot is taken up by Whirlwind. For A strong Stab move to target threats like
and
and just chip don't the things that can't KO
the third moveslot we're running is Earthquake. The Last moveslot is to guarantee halving the hp of setup threats so that they can't just easily come back in and do the same thing again through ruination and then whirlwind said threat out.. The last thing is that I decided to turn
into a ghost type tera to both act as a spin b;ocker if need be, and to make sure that we have a secondary check into
so it doesn't just 6-0 this team.
With this blend of these 6 pokemon a fun balance team around a pokemon with low usage in the OU tier (
) was made, and I sincerely hope that this team is used and enjoyed! anyways, Have a great day!
