Choice Specs Tapu Lele is an obscenely powerful breaker, leaving gaping holes in the defensive cores of teams and denting even the sturdiest resistances with its Terastallization- and Terrain-boosted STAB moves. However, Tapu Lele’s mediocre Speed stat holds it back from being too overwhelming, as it is easily revenge killed by a plethora of faster Pokemon. Hidden Power Fire lets Tapu Lele pressure most Steel-types and puts them easily in the range of its STAB attacks, namely Gholdengo, Mega Scizor, and Ferrothorn. Focus Blast instead lets Tapu Lele nail Heatran while missing out on Gholdengo and making Mega Scizor shakier to deal with. Psyshock lets Tapu Lele score an OHKO on Assault Vest Tornadus-T, preventing it from pivoting in to scout. Fairy is the premier Tera type for Tapu Lele, as it decreases the damage from Kingambit and Mega Tyranitar trying to Pursuit trap it while also boosting its Moonblast damage to terrifying levels, making it equally as potent as its Psychic-type STAB moves, notably scoring an OHKO on bulky Kingambit. Timid is the preferred nature to outrun Great Tusk, Hisuian Samurott, and Speed tie opposing Tapu Lele; however, the damage boost from a Modest nature might also be preferable, most notably 2HKOing Mega Scizor with Focus Blast and 2HKOing Bulky Gholdengo with Hidden Power Fire. Tapu Lele greatly appreciates pivot support to bring it in and punch holes, so the likes of Landorus-T, Tornadus-T, and Rotom-W are good partners. Pursuit support from Kingambit and Mega Tyranitar is extremely useful, as they help remove Ghost-types like Dragapult and Gholdengo that can cause issues for Tapu Lele. Late-game cleaners like Mega Lopunny, Choice Scarf Urshifu-R, and Volcarona all appreciate Tapu Lele wallbreaking early. Volcarona in particular synergises extremely well, as Tapu Lele heavily presaures Heatran, allowing Volcarona to break through it later on. Due to its low speed, Tapu Lele is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon like Dragapult, Mega Lopunny, and Urshifu-R, so a solid defensive core formed with Pokemon like Toxapex, Tornadus-T, and Kingambit works well alongside it. Steel-types like Gholdengo, Heatran, and Mega Scizor still act as a stopgap for Tapu Lele, so teammates like Urshifu-R, Great Tusk, Mega Lopunny, and Iron Valiant are desirable.

Psyshock lets Tapu Lele score an OHKO on Assault Vest Tornadus-T, preventing it from pivoting in to scout. Fairy is the premier Terastal type for Tapu Lele as it dissuades I wouldnt say dissuades here as they still will pursuit trap u and u still will take chip, its rather just that u take less damage from their suit, so reword Kingambit and Mega Tyranitar from trying to Pursuit trap it, while also boosting its Moonblast to terrifying levels, making it equally as potent as its Psychic-type STAB, notably scoring an OHKO on bulky Kingambit. Timid is the preferred nature to outrun Great Tusk, Hisuian Samurott, and speed tie opposing Tapu Lele, however the damage boost from Modest might also be preferable, most notable 2HKOing Mega Scizor with Focus Blast, and 2HKOing Bulky Gholdengo with Hidden Power Fire. Tapu Lele greatly appreciates pivot support to bring it in and punch holes, so the likes of Landorus-T, Tornadus-T, and Rotom Wash are good partners. Pursuit Support from Kingambit and Mega Tyranitar are is extremely useful as they help remove Ghost-types like Dragapult and Gholdengo who can cause issues to Tapu Lele. Late game cleaners like Mega Lopunny, Choice Scarf Urshifu-RS, and Volcarona all appreciate Tapu Lele wallbreaking early.
