Hi, this is my first RMT attempt, I wanted to see after the Urshifu ban if the water-type could be as efficient.
This team worked pretty decently on the ladder but im sure strong improvements could be made.
Team description :
the general idea of the team is to rely at first on the core Ferro/Clef for setting entry hazards and paralyse as much poke as possible, especially the fast ones in order to allow specs spectrier to come and sweep. But urshifu and cinderace can also be strong wallbreakers as well as giving a lot of tempo.
The team:
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
Full Def Ferro is the knock-off abuser of the team, and he is also here to absorb physical moves and giving huge recoil with the rocky helmet. Leech seed is here to prevent set ups, as well as T-Wave which is also here to allow spectrier to come later in the game. It also can come on most the defensives opponents to knock off or T-wave, regain health with leech seed and slow down the game.
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
The other hazard setter and defensive pokemon of the team. Full SpeDef in order to tank most of poison/steel attack abusers like Galar-Slowking, Hydreigon, Mag or Nidoking (not so well for this one). Rocks are there to cheap opponents, T-Wave also to paralyse fast threats to Spectrier that clef can handle like dragapult. Can also para Mandibuzz in order to allow spectrier to touch it with Hex. Soft Check to Spectrier and can T-Wave him.
Spectrier @ Choice Specs
Ability: Grim Neigh
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Haze
The Star and late game sweeper of the Team. Shadow Ball hits really hard, and Hex is to touch soft checks like Hydreigon, Mandibuz or speDef Walls. Will-o-wisp and haze as utility moves and prevent set-ups.
But in order to allow it to come, the idea of the team is to use other pokemons to cheap damage or kill the pokemon that checks it, especially normal types like Blissey and Osbtagoon, but also the faster opponents, due to the weak defensives stats of spectrier.
Latias (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish
- Trick
The third kind-of defensive pokemon of the team and the ground immunity. The HP investment allow it to decently take resisted attacks. Not the biggest threat of the team but the scarf ice beam allow it to get rid of Lando, Garchomp and Dragonite after 1 DD, Psyshock is here for coverage.
But the best use of Latias is its access to Trick, that allow it to give scarf to defensive walls, but also is the best way to prevent set-up from Magearna and Tapu-Fini.
Healing-Wish is the reason i chose latias, and i use it to make spectrier back to full life or if he's statused.
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Court Change
- U-turn
- Sucker Punch
- Pyro Ball
The pivot of the team, classic set with boots allow him to come indefinitely, u-turn for tempo, Sucker Punch as priority to handle Spectrier and Dragapult specs. I chose Court-change over High Jump Kick in order to have some hazards control, and this seems to work especially against Sticky/walls teams.
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Surging Strikes
Maybe the pokemon im the less sure about in the team, but the scarf allow it to pivot around, and the water/fight stabs can destroy checks to Spectrier like all the normal types, heatran, landorus...etc..
Couters:
Specs Regieleki
Due to the lack of electric immunity, this Regi can hurt the team strongly. Latias and clefable can handle it but they have to be full life, especially clef.
Nidoking
Very hard to switch into it but it can be OHKO by Spectrier and Urshifu
Tapu Lele Specs
With no Dark types, the team doesn’t have great Lele switch ins, the idea is to tank moonblast with clefs and psychic with ferro, t-wave or knock specs off in order to allow pokemons to switch into it.
Sand Teams :
Im almot every time destroyed by sand-teams, especially Dracozolt LO and Sw Excadrill.
Thank you for reading me !
