Spectrier @ Leftovers
Ability: Grim Neigh
EVs: 52 HP / 200 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
The combination of its high Speed and Special Attack, Grim Neigh, and access to Calm Mind makes Spectrier a powerful setup sweeper in Monotype. Substitute prevents status from Pokemon like Toxapex, Zapdos, and Heatran and Leech Seed from Ferrothorn and Celesteela. In conjunction with Hex, Will-O-Wisp allows Spectrier to check and cripple a number of threats like Toxapex, Celesteela, Swampert, and Urshifu-R. The given EV spread allows Spectrier to keep Substitute up against burned Celesteela and Ferrothorn. Mimikyu is a good partner, as it is able to eliminate problematic Dark-types like Galarian Moltres and Tyranitar, while Spectrier threatens annoying physical walls like Celesteela and Toxapex. Choice Scarf Gengar can check oppoing Choice Scarf users that threaten Spectrier like Zarude, Hydreigon, and Blacephalon.
