SS OU Spikes Hyper Offense

Hi, I've just started taking showdown slightly more seriously and I decided to build my first serious hyper offense team. I reached 1500 pretty smoothly but I'm having trouble climbing further. It would be nice to receive some advice on the team. The main idea of this team is to use stealth rock and spikes to punish switching and chip pokemon into ohko range for my sweepers.

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Skill Swap
- Explosion
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Azelf is my main suicide lead. I chose Azelf because it outspeeds nearly all other leads and can get stealth rock up reliably. Its role is to set up rocks and explode to hopefully kill or at least deal alot of damage to a pokemon. I chose Skill Swap over Knock Off because of Magic Bounce users. Skill Swap also ensures I get rocks up in nearly matchup. Taunt is to stop the other lead from setting hazards, defogging or setting up. Explosion makes sure to heavily damage most pokemon that aren't resisted or immune.

Froslass (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Ice Beam

Froslass is my spikes setter. I chose Froslass over other Spikes setters because of her speed and access to Taunt. I usually send Froslass in after Azelf explodes and set up spikes asap. I use Taunt to again block defogging, setting up etc. Destiny Bond is for potentially taking down another pokemon. I use Ice Beam over Shadow Ball to hit many ice weak pokemon such as Landorus-T and Dragonite. The max SpA investment is for ohkoing Kartana most of the time as well as a guaranteed 2hko on defensive Zapdos.

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head

This is a standard set for Bisharp. Max Spe evs to outspeed most defensive pokemon as well as most heatrans. Adamant nature and max Atk evs to hit as hard as possible. My main reason for choosing Bisharp is because of Defiant, which give Bisharp +2 Atk if one of its stats are lowered (and also because Bisharp is badass). This lets Bisharp punish defog attempts and potentially sweep. Sucker Punch is useful priority, Knock Off as dark type STAB and Iron Head as the other STAB. Bisharp can also weaken or break walls for its team mates. Black Glasses lets Knock Off and Sucker Punch hit harder.

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance

Mimikyu is my spinblocker and setup sweeper. I chose Mimikyu because Disguise lets it get a free hit or Swords Dance. Mimikyu also makes a good partner with Bisharp, being able to come in for free against fighting type attacks and threaten them back with Play Rough. Shadow Claw and Play Rough are for STAB and Shadow Sneak is good priority. I'm pretty sure Mimikyu's STABs can hit every pokemon at least neutrally so there isnt much need for coverage. Life orb gives Mimikyu some much needed power.

Zeraora @ Magnet
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Plasma Fists
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

Zeraora is my cleaner. It comes in late game, uses Bulk Up once or twice and starts sweeping. It outspeeds nearly every unboosted pokemon and the ones that do outspeed it such as Regieleki can't threaten it at all. Zeraora can also come in and revenge kill a pokemon, but I try to keep it as healthy as possible for late game. Magnet boosts Plasma Fists, Knock Off kills Dragapult after a bit of chip and also is good utility. Close Combat is good coverage for steels and dark types. Zeraora was originally a placeholder but I decided to keep it after it near single-handedly won several games for me.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Mystical Fire
- Ice Beam

FInally, we have Latios. Latios is my ground immunity, and special wallbreaker. Life orb gives all of his moves some more punch. Draco Meteor hits like a nuke while Psychic acts as a more spammable STAB. Mystical Fire is good coverage for steel and grass types. I chose Ice Beam over Roost for extra coverage. I used to have Thunderbolt here for Slowbro but Ice Beam takes care of Landorus-T, who is on nearly every team.

Thanks for reading!

You could consolidate azelf and froslass into one Pokémon, either mew or skarmory, to have a suicide lead with both hazards. My recommendation is mew, as it's faster and has access to things like Explosion or Flare Blitz to kill itself after hazards are set.

With a free slot open now so you can use another sweeper. You could do something like rillaboom and replace mimikyu (which is pretty bad) with hawlucha, or if you reeeally want to keep mimikyu, go with something like Volcarona to break down non heatran steels for mimikyu and latios. I'm leaning towards the former because rilla and lucha are super threatening and mimikyu is bad, so I'll post their sets below.

I'd also recommend either boots or Leftovers on zeraora, and to consider Calm Mind on Latios over Ice Beam. Think Lefties is the way to go so zera can set up better. Don't think the latios change is super necessary but it forces a lot of switches and a +1 Latios is very hard to deal with and Ice beam isn't that necessary without gliscor in the tier

I'll post the sets below. Good luck with the team.

Mew @ Red Card
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Explosion

Rillaboom @ Life Orb
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Grassy Glide
- Superpower
- Knock Off

Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Taunt

Building on the above,

You could swap Latios for a Latias,

:ss/latias:
Latias (F) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Stored Power
- Aura Sphere

This keeps your Ground-immunity and is a slightly better cleaner / sweeper on Hyper Offense in my experience, atleast better than Latios. You could also go with a Galarian Moltres here if you wanted a Ground-Immune thats a Special Breaker

:ss/moltres-galar:
Moltres-Galar @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Agility
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane

This is another super spammable and fun sweeper to use on Hyper Offense and I actually like this more than any other Hyper Offense mon at the moment, largely because of the fact that a lot of teams arent prepared for it and also because it just looks so pretty, look at that lushious (is that how you spell it) hair or whatever, its just pretty. Its dual STAB coverage is also very hard to deal with especially since Bisharp and Tyranitar have been declining recently.

Also since you do have a lot of set up sweepers I would actually prefer a Screen suicide lead over the Mew, probably either Alolan Ninetales or even Grimmsnarl, your choice tbh. ( you can even keep mew if you prefer it )

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Hypnosis
- Encore
- Aurora Veil

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Taunt
- Spirit Break
Have fun with the team :blobwizard:
