Hello everyone, i'm fairly new to the "serious" competitive scene so this is my first RMT. I like to consider myself an up and comer and i'm becoming more and more active in the chat. This team is more of a balance offense than anything, it's not quite HO and it doesn't have enough defensive presence to be straight up balance. Before i get started i have to have a HUGE shoutout to Merl for helping me build this team from scratch. This team has so far peaked at 1612, 77 on the ladder. After that i had a real rough evening full of incorrect predictions and fell pretty hard but i'm climbing back up!
Analysis:
aerodactyl-mega.gif

Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Hone Claws

I've never built an Aerodactyl team before or really used it, so naturally this was the place to start. There isn't anything flashy or unique about this set, it's the standard hone claws, Stone Edge spam. With Aerodactyl not possessing anything special in defense or special defense I almost always save it for late game clean up. Running Jolly allows it to outspeed +1 gyarados and easily pick of the annoying Beedrills and Whimsicotts that runs amok in UU.

empoleon.gif

Empoleon @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Defog

Next I needed reliable hazard control. Merl suggested an offensive Empoleon with max special attack and max speed, however when I tried that Mega Sharpedo absolutely shit on this team. Because of this I decided to invest in defense. I went with shuca berry because just about everything that can carry earthquake does. Empoleon will handily live a +1 earthquake from a Salamence and obliterate it with ice beam. This does leave him open to fighting, electric, and grass still.

roserade.gif

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 140 HP / 96 SpA / 252 SpD / 20 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Aromatherapy
- Sleep Powder

Roserade has proven to be a special tank and can handily beat a suicune and swamperts. On top of that it completely check florges, which everyone knows is an annoyance in UU. Sleep powder cripples another mon for a few turns allowing you to force a switch, rack up easy damage, or switch and get up a few hone claws. Aromatherapy is helpful because of the unavoidable scald burns. Sludge bomb and giga drain are the primary stab moves that help Rose be semi-threatening offensively.

chandelure.gif

Chandelure @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute

I knew Chandelure was a good pokemon, but wow using it on this team has really opened my eyes. If you can correctly predict a fire move and get that +1 in fire, someone is going to go down. I chose to go with energy ball over calm mind because I feel Swampert is one of the most threatening mons in the meta right now and Chandelure gives me more speed than my Empoleon and Roserade. Substitute is a really nice addition because, again, if you predict a fire move correctly, and can then set up a sub, a sweep is almost always going to ensue. Be weary of things such as infiltrator crobat and all ground moves, because Chandy will not live an earthquake. I've probably gotten as many sweeps with Chanderlure as my main two sweepers.

mienshao.gif

Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

Scarfed Mienshao is one of the best revenge killers in the game, boasting an excellent speed tier and attack. Once again this is a staple set, nothing special about it. U-Turn for scouting, Stone Edge and Knock Off for coverage, and High Jump Kick for obliterating. I have taken out 5 pokemon in one match with just 5 High Jump Kicks before, all one after the other, so if played correctly Mienshao should be able to come in any time during the game thanks to U-Turn and its great speed. I can't really think of any pokemon faster than Mienshao that runs scarf, so usually you'll be the fastest unboosted in the match. Be weary of protect and ghost switch-ins as a missed HJK will result in half you health being gone.

krookodile.gif

Krookodile @ Dread Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

Last but not least I needed a good rocker. 9 time outta 10 I lead Krook because i'm tired of predicting opponent lead and it's easy to have a set for me. Having intimidate lead has one great thing, OHKO Mega-Beedrill and getting up rocks. 99% of the time Bee will go for protect 1st giving you a chance to get up rocks, then U-Turn out, that when you hit them with pursuit. I have yet to see Bee get the kill and Pursuit always kills. I usually play a little loosely with Krook, which isn't a great idea as having intimidate and a stab boosted knock off definitely come in handy late game, so i try to work on that.

252+ Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 252 Def Shuca Berry Empoleon: 200-238 (64.5 - 76.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Florges Moonblast vs. 140 HP / 252+ SpD Roserade: 39-47 (13.1 - 15.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever

96 SpA Roserade Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Suicune: 188-224 (46.5 - 55.4%) -- 15.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

umbreon.gif

Right now this team CANNOT beat Umbreon unless it is put to sleep by rose. It's a real pain and I would appreciate some advice on this.

doublade.gif

As long as it can't get up a swords dance Doublade isn't a big issue. If it does get up a swords dance it is almost certainly good game.

I was told by a certain, Horse Headed person, that I was weak to Mamoswine. This has yet to be seen, I have pretty handily taken care of all the Mamo's I encounter.

I'm sure there are more hard counters, but these are the only 2 that came to mind.

These aren't anything special, just ladder games where i feel the team performed well.

I'm likely to put up more replays as they come, and after any suggestions are posted.

Again, another huge thanks to Merl (I have no idea how to spell you're name and you aren't on right now, and shout out to The Amazing Sophia, she has faced this team multiple times and helps me test all the time. Also thanks to all the UU chat community for being so friendly.

I'm counting on your guys to make this team legendary n_n

right now I dont see a real way to get rid of the umbreon weakness without overhauling the team massivly unless you wanna run choiced chandy with trick OR weakness policy chandy with cm over shadowball

Hi, nice team! It's well built and I couldn't find too many flaws, plus it's a pretty cool team so good job! Here's a quick rate:

No huge threats at first glance!

Mienshao + Krookodile is a pretty good wallbreaking core that works well with HC Mega Aerodactyl and I like the way your team is structured around supporting that. Florges is an annoyance to your team, it walls Mienshao and Krookodile, beats Mega Aerodactyl 1v1 without a boost, beats Chandelure 1v1, and can very shakily be beaten by Roserade since it's SpDef with no recovery. Suicune is also a problem, as it can set up on a few of your unboosted Pokemon and your Roserade doesn't even beat it since again, it has no recovery and it's SpDef. One thing I noticed though is that you have no real Fighting resist, and something like Scarf Mienshao outspeeds and OHKOs your whole team and 2HKOs Roserade. You have Chandelure to play mind games with using HJK or Knock Off, but if they get that prediction right it's gonna be a tough match from there. There's no easy fix to this problem that I could see without changing a bunch of Pokemon on your team though, so the changes I do have are t help vs the other threats I mentioned for the most part.

  • 609.png
One change I would definitely recommend is changing Energy Ball to Calm Mind. I don't see the point to your set, the main reason for non-scarfed Chandelure is to wallbreak with SubCM, and that set actually fits very good on this team in combination with HC Aerodactyl and Mienshao. Shadow Ball already does a lot to Swampert so I don't think that Energy Ball here is necessary as it is only helpful in that one matchup, where as CM is helpful in a lot more; it does a good job wallbreaking annoying cores with Pokemon like Blissey or, more importantly, Florges -- SubCM Chandelure sets up on and beats Florges 1v1, a big threat to your team already, and it can hard switch into Florges and do the same, making it less easy for the opposing player to mindlessly wish pass to everything on their team. Once you make this change, you should change Fire Blast to Flamethrower for more PP and reliability with Calm Mind.
  • 395.png
Your Empoleon spread could be optimized; putting EVs into Defense instead of HP is less efficient; putting EVs in HP over Defense gives you nearly the same boost in Defense but also boosts your Special Defense. I put some calcs underneath this to show that. I would also give Empoleon 44 speed to outspeed uninvested Swampert and other base 65 Pokemon. An optional change to help vs Mienshao is to change Shuca Berry to Chople berry. This however makes you weaker to Mega Pert and Salamence, so it's a trade-off. If your team seems to have consistent problems with Mienshao, you could try it.
252 Atk Strong Jaw Mega Sharpedo Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Empoleon: 231-273 (62 - 73.3%)
252 Atk Strong Jaw Mega Sharpedo Crunch vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Empoleon: 178-210 (57.6 - 67.9%)
252 SpA Life Orb Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Empoleon: 138-162 (44.6 - 52.4%)
252 SpA Life Orb Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Empoleon: 121-144 (32.5 - 38.7%)

    492.png
The Roserade set you have right now is really random -- SpDef with no recovery and no entry hazards, the latter being one of Roserade's only niches over Pokemon like Shaymin. You say it's there to beat Suicune and Swampert, but it doesn't even do that because it loses to Suicune if it has a Calm Mind boost, and it gets outsped and OHKOd by Swampert. It also is a big momentum suck because it doesn't do anything offensively and doesn't set any hazards. Specs Shaymin, I think, works better over Roserade on this team since it's more offensive, can beat Suicune reliably, and Healing Wish is a great utility move that helps with your Aerodactyl and Chandelure setting up again.

That's all I have! Sorry I couldn't help with your Mienshao weakness, it's really hard to change your team to beat that without switching up a lot of Pokemon. You just have to outplay it with Chandelure and Krookodile I suppose :P. Good luck!

Shaymin @ Choice Specs
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

i find your match up against hydreigon to be pretty poor in all honestly with mienshao being the only good way of handling it. offensive empoleon is by no means even near a good way to deal with it. in addition to this as all falls down mentioned, your answer to the likes of mienshao are pretty much non existent which brings me to suggest that you should be changing roserade -> whimsicott. what whimsicott provides is a lot more breathing room around pokemon such as hydreigon although you will have to be wary of its coverage moves but that can be handled with careful play. whimsicott is also providing a soft check to bulky waters and fighting types such as mienshao which is appreciated. your team was also incredibly troubled by sableye so this change would help with that.

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 68 Def / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Encore
- Stun Spore
- Moonblast

whimsicott isn't exactly the best way of handling bulky water types due to the fact that it's already got a ton of roles to occupy and compounding a bulky water check into this where it becomes susceptible to scald burns and such just leave your team a whole lot more vulnerable to other threats. so to fix this i'd try using toxicroak > mienshao. gives you a lot better answer to pokemon such as calm mind florges as well as being a good answer to bulky water types such as suicune or alomomola.

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

removing mienshao means that you don't really have another faster pokemon outside of mega aerodactyl which isn't really ideal so in order to help with this i think making sub cm chande -> scarf chande would be a pretty ok change to make and it does give you an offensive check to cobalion which is definitely appreciated plus having trick around to cripple walls is utility that your team sorely appreciates.

agreeing with afd's empoleon changes. those should definitely be made. some other minor touch ups would be shifting the 4 hp evs on aerodactyl to something else just so you don't take that extra SR damage

hope this helped.

edit: isn't this sacri's team?

Whats up my man! You have a pretty good looking team here. I do believe I found a decent solution to Umbreon, Doublade, and Fighting type problem. Plus I have a few minor changes that I think will also greatly benefit your team.

<>Things to Change<>

553.png
Krookodile to Defensive Nidoqueen
031.png

This provides you will a much more solid fighting type switch. It also takes on doublade quite nicely and can set up T-spikes to wear down bulky pokemon like umbreon, p2, and blissey. One thing I was looking for was a way to replace Roserade without becoming weak to toxic stalling zapdos. Nidoqueen was the answer and provided a great way to counteract some of the problems your team has.
Nidoqueen (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 SpA
Bold Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic Spikes
407.png
Roserade to Offensive Whimsicott
547.png

If you didn't realize it before, life orb Hydreigon is also a big issure for this team. Since the empoleon is offensive, the team needed a more solid answer for it. Whimsicott not only checks Hydreigon, but also some annoying ground types that aero can't deal with effectively. We don't want too much pressure on Empoleon. With the addition of a Nidoqueen without roar, prankster encore is very helpful. Good answer for Umbreon as well even if max spdef. Crawdaunt at plus 2 wins but not anymore.
Whimsicott @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
- Encore
609.png
Chandelure's Energy Ball to Calm Mind
609.png

I'm going to be changing your Aero set, so a set up sweeper is needed. I do believe that Fire Blast will be alright on this set since the power is much desired and I do not think it will hinder how you play vs stall. I know what you were going for with this set, but I have already resolved some of your reasons for having energy ball and Chandy just works better as a set up sweeper on this team. Leftovers is a must.
Chandelure @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
142-mega.png
HoneClaws Mega Aero to Pursuit Mega Aero
142-mega.png

If you haven't noticed already, I have made your team pretty weak to Chandelure and Alakazam to an extent. Pursuit Aero deals with those pretty nicely. We have a set up sweeper now, so the change has few consequences.
Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
395.png
Empoleon Evs to Hp and Speed Creep
395.png

Empoleon is better off with HP over def because it will be taking special hits from time to time whether that be a focus blast from Alakazam or a fire blast from Salamence. I think you were trying to come out on top with more HP after you lure Mamo, but it isn't worth it. The Hp and speed will help you out so much more.
Empoleon @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 212 HP / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Defog
<>Possible Changes<>

620.png
Scarf Mienshao to SD Mienshao
620.png

This is a change I'm a little bit torn on. We have added the speed of whimi and we have mega aero, so maybe we can have another set up sweeper? This set also works as a great florges lure and our way of beating florges atm is CM chandy... which is a slow process. SD on blissey and umbreon's protect. The scarf may be more useful so I don't recommend this change unless you think it does work out better. It would take me a few hours of testing to find out.
Mienshao @ Black Belt/ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless/ Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick
- Poison Jab
- Swords Dance
Well I hope you enjoy the rate! Please feel free to ask me what ever you want about your team or what to expect from the UU tier. I'd be happy to help out! See you around man!

Guys thank you for the awesome support and suggestions, things i've decided that change up:
1. As a common consensus I have now changed Chandelure to Calm Mind
2. I'm going to test both Shaymin and Whimsicott in place of Roserade, if i do decide Whimsicott i will test Toxicroak over Mienshao, though I become a giant fan of scarf Shao
3. I updated the EV investment on Empoleon to health and the suggested speed
4. I've put pursuit on Aerodactyl to test that

In response to Cyndequil, this is not Sacri's team, however he seems to be using a VERY similar one at the moment.
To DaSpoofy, for now I think i'm going to keep Krook, and if fighting types becomes an issue I will test out Nidoqueen, my reasoning for this is the Intimidate comes in handy.

Again thank you all :)
