Randbats Spotlight Tournament
Welcome to the sixteenth bimonthly Spotlight Tour! This iteration will feature the recently elected Gen 5 Pokebilities Random Battle format. This tournament is your chance to showcase your skills in Gen 5 Pokebilities Random Battle in a single elimination best-of-3 series.
What is Gen 5 Pokebilities Random Battle?
With Pokebilities, your pokemon will have not just one but all their legal abilities at the same time. Prepare yourself to face ungodly combinations like Moxie + Intimidate or Magic Guard + Regenerator in the generation that introduced hidden abilities and, overall, changed the way those have been conceptualized ever since.
Prizes
The winner of the Spotlight Tournament will receive the Room Prize Winner rank in the Random Battles room for a month and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!*
*Since the last cycle of the year is always "best of the rest", the winner's pick will be included in the first cycle of 2026 instead
How does the tour work?
It’s simple:
1. Contact your opponent on their Smogon wall and decide on a time to battle.
2. Battle each other in the format “Gen 5 Pokebilities Random Battle”. This format can be found under 'Randomized Format Spotlight', at the top of the third column. Alternatively, use /challenge Gen 5 Pokebilities Random Battle.
3. The first player to 2 wins advances to the next round.
Note that this tournament will end before the next Randbats Spotlight Ladder commences, i.e., before November 2025. This will determine the pace of the tournament.
Please note:
1. All scheduling attempts MUST be done publicly on Smogon Walls. No other proof of communication will count for act calls regarding scheduling attempts.
2. You MUST post replays of your wins.
