Bug Buzz threatens targets like Cresselia, Rillaboom, and Weakness Policy Zarude. Quiver Dance is used to offer more reliability versus hard-hitting special attackers such as offensive Spectrier, Naganadel, and Magnezone.

Roost provides Volcarona with recovery so that it can take multiple hits from foes like Naganadel. Alternatively, Substitute helps Volcarona against Pokemon that utilize low-accuracy moves to hit Volcarona, like Galarian Moltres and Zapdos. Substitute also helps Volcarona to get into Swarm range, which is helpful against Adamant Choice Band Haxorus, and secures the win against foes like Yawn + Fake Tears Sylveon. With 248 HP EVs in conjunction with 16 Defense EVs, Volcarona is able to survive every attack from Jolly Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, except for Rock Slide. 112 Speed EVs allow Volcarona to outspeed neutral-natured base 80 Speed Pokemon like Togekiss, as well as Adamant Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan.

Usage Tips
=============
Against strong special attackers like Choice Specs Porygon-Z, Dragapult, and Naganadel, use the combination of Quiver Dance + Roost so that Volcarona can survive their STAB moves and defeat them right after with its boosted Special Attack. If Volcarona is running Substitute, it should be used against non-Choice Scarf Togekiss to avoid getting paralyzed by Thunder Wave, letting Volarona set up Quiver Dance and turn the tables on your side. Against Cresselia and Porygon-Z, you should be wary of Trick + Choice Scarf; therefore, always use Bug Buzz on the first turn instead of Quiver Dance if you suspect a Choice Scarf set from your opponent. Volcarona defeats non-Assault Vest Zeraora with the combination of Quiver Dance + Substitute which gets Volcarona into Swarm range to KO Zeraora using Bug Buzz. Against Spectrier, Volcarona should use Quiver Dance on the first turn to secure the win against Life Orb sets. If Spectrier reveals Taunt and Sitrus Berry on the first turn, use Fire Blast until Taunt expires, and then use Quiver Dance or Fire Blast by predicting whether Spectrier will use Hex or Taunt, respectively.

Quiver Dance allows Volcarona to set up against stall Cresselia and increases Volcarona's damage, which is helpful against the likes of Choice Specs Kyurem and Sylveon. Bug Buzz helps versus Substitute users like Whimsicott and allows Volcarona to defeat Cresselia with Quiver Dance boosts. Swarm is preferred to boost Volcarona's Bug Buzz after using Endure, enabling valuable KO benchmarks like OHKOing Dracozolt, Choice Band Rhyperior, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele after one Quiver Dance boost.

Most of the time, Custap Berry Volcarona will have to use Endure on incoming attacks that threaten it with an OHKO, such as Bolt Beak from Choice Scarf Dracozolt, Hyper Beam from Choice Specs Porygon-Z, Giga Impact from Galarian Darmanitan, and Rock Slide from Choice Scarf Zarude. Volcarona's main advantage from using this set is the activation of its Swarm ability in tandem with Endure + Custap Berry, allowing Volcarona to turn the tables on the mentioned threats and OHKO them with priority-boosted Bug Buzz or Overheat. In certain matchups, such as Fake Tears Sylveon, Rocky Helmet Galarian Moltres, and most stall Zapdos variants, Volcarona will need to use Quiver Dance in order to secure the win. Against Cresselia, using Bug Buzz on the first turn secures the win, since you should be aware of Trick + Choice Scarf set and not let Volcarona use Quiver Dance.

If you suspect a Substitute user from your opponent, such as Whimsicott, use Bug Buzz instead of Overheat. Against the likes of non-Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, Volcarona should use Mystical Fire to lower the damage taken and secure the win.

This set runs an EV spread of 64 HP / 24 SpA / 224 SpD / 196 Spe with Calm nature in order to tank a Steam Eruption from Volcanion after a Quiver Dance and outspeed base 80 Speed foes like Venusaur. The combination of Quiver Dance and Mental Herb allows Volcarona to gain favorable matchups against Calm Mind Spectrier and Tapu Koko running Taunt. This Mental Herb set runs an EV spread of 248 HP / 16 Def / 8 SpA / 124 SpD / 112 Spe with a Timid nature and the moves Quiver Dance, Fire Blast, Bug Buzz, and Roost. The HP and Defense investment allows Volcarona to tank Flare Blitz from Adamant Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan, while the 124 Special Defense EVs allow Volcarona to take a Hyper Beam from Choice Scarf Porygon-Z and Thunder from Choice Specs Regieleki. 112 Speed EVs are enough to outspeed Zeraora after one Quiver Dance boost.

(The order of priority here is AV Zeraora because it techs other Volcarona sets which you should mention for new players, then you can mention you have respectable odds against Band Drago and potentially a mention of non-Choiced/AV/Life Orb Urshifu-S which is last due to the amount of restrictions against that mon) Kee Berry + Roost allow Volcarona to survive a decent number of physical attacks from the likes of Steelix sets not running Head Smash and Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan. Bug Buzz is Volcarona's primary STAB move, threatening targets like Cresselia, Zarude, and Rillaboom and Zarude sets not running Choice Band or Choice Scarf. Quiver Dance is used to offer more reliability versus hard-hitting special attackers such as offensive Spectrier sets, Naganadel, and Magnezone. Life Orb Garchomp will use setup to win. You can mention Choice Band Zeraora instead as you bulk a hit and KO from Swarm range.). Roost provides Volcarona with recovery so that it can take multiple hits from foes like Choice Specs Dragapult. (I am confused with the Regidrago example, this is like implying max Speed Drago is a common threat or are you trying to express something else? Band Darm is good enough imo and Togekiss makes sense)

Usage Tips

Against strong special attackers like Porygon-Z, Dragapult, and Naganadel, use the combination of Quiver Dance + Roost so that Volcarona can survive their STAB moves and defeat them right after with its boosted Special Attack boost. If you are running Substitute, it should be used against threats like Choice Specs from Primarina to avoid getting hit by Hydro Cannon and then you can start setting up Quiver Dance, turning the tables on your side. Against Cresselia, you should be wary of Trick Choice Scarf; therefore, always use Bug Buzz on the first turn instead of Quiver Dance. Overheat deals an extreme amount of damage to Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Metagross, and Rillaboom. Quiver Dance allows Volcarona to setup against stall Pokemon like Tapu Koko (stall Koko running Taunt wins against this set) and it increases Volcarona's damage, which is helpful against the likes of Kyurem (see above) and Sylveon. Bug Buzz helps versus Substitute users like Whimsicott and allows Volcarona to defeat Cresselia (Leftovers Cress matchup needs Buzz + QD, this reads as if you need to only spam Buzz). Swarm is the preferred ability on this set in order to boost Volcarona's Bug Buzz after the combination of Endure + Custap Berry, enabling valuable damage rolls like OHKOing Dracozolt, OHKOing Choice Band Rhyperior, and OHKOing Choice Scarf Tapu Lele after one Quiver Dance boost.

Giga Drain is solid option as coverage move for Volcarona, defeating Water-type foes like Swampert and Gastrodon and securing the roll against Choice Band Rhyperior. Alternatively, Psychic hits Pokemon that resist both Volcarona's STAB moves, such as Urshifu-R, Naganadel, and Salazzle (offensive Salazzle is closer to a 50-50 based on rolls, stall wins with a Disable. Specs Naganadel will win as it outspeeds and you don't run bulk + QD) while Mystical Fire serves as a more accurate Fire-type STAB move than Overheat, with has the added benefit of lowering the target’s Special Attack helping Volcarona securing the win against foes like Sylveon, Choice Specs Kyurem, and non-Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. (Mystical Fire isn't used for its accuracy but rather for the matchups you mention + giving favourable odds against Spectrier which you can also mention)

Volcarona can utilize a set with Weakness Policy that lures Volcanion. This set runs an EV spread of 252 HP / 16 SpA / 128 SpD / 112 Spe with a Timid nature and the moves Quiver Dance, Overheat, Bug Buzz, and Hyper Beam. 112 EVs investement in Speed lets Volcarona outspeed Volcanion while 128 SpD and 252 HP evs allow Volcarona to tank a Steam Eruption from Volcanion after one Quiver Dance boost. 16 SpA is just enough to OHKO Volcanion after one Quiver Dance + Weakness Policy activation. (WP is a good option but you should mention that it works against specific sets or unsuspecting players. Consider for example AV Volcanion that will bulk Hyper Beam and Custap Berry Volcanion that is able to click Endure against Beam unless the player running Volcarona predicts that.)

Due to Taunt Spectrier's existence, Volcarona could run Mental Herb instead of Life Orb in the Life Orb set above, allowing it to setup Quiver Dance and win the matchup. (My take on this suggestion would be: players may want to improve the matchup against Taunt-Calm Mind Spectrier, while still having the setup and recovery options of QD and Roost respectively. In that case, the combination of Mental Herb and QD allows to gain that matchup due to Herb's interaction with Taunt which allows Volcarona to setup unobstructed. That being said, Taunt Spectrier has seen a decline, making this a more niche option on Volcarona. EV spread of 248 HP / 16 Def / 84 SpA/ 48 SpD / 112 Spe. Speed HP defensive investments is for matchups you have already mentioned so you can copy these, SpA is for a 2HKO if your fire blasts hit against Taunt Sitrus Spectrier using Taunt t1 and Calm Mind t2)
