Announcement SS National Dex Team Tour Survey

I think more sword shield based team tours would be great. There is a ton of potential regarding unique tournament experiences that I think SSNDOU has the best opportunity to provide. A PL styled tournament with 10 slots with 6 SSOU and then 4 lower tiers would be the generic format. I think if we’re willing to branch out then we could add a SM slot. I think the two player bases are fairly similar, the metas are different but the mechanics are largely the same. SSNDOU is more related to SMOU than SMOU is to SSOU. This is unrelated to team tours and possibly exists already but invitational would be very exciting to watch. I’m new to the competitive side of this tier, don’t take me too seriously but I’d like to see this community thrive because it was pretty much my first tier that I really played.

Here are the survey results!

We received a total of 36 responses:

Representation of player-base:
Forms response chart. Question title: Select all that apply to your resume. Number of responses: 36 responses.

We've got a decent turnout of qualified voters:

Forms response chart. Question title: Are you interested in participating in a SS-based team tour?. Number of responses: 36 responses.

Though the overwhelming majority of voters (qualified or not) demonstrated interest in this prospective tour.

And among the possible tiers:

Forms response chart. Question title: What tiers are you interested in having as a part of a prospective team tour?. Number of responses: 36 responses.

We see AG having the least amount of support. Though we didn't have a DOU format in SS ND this might be an interesting time to explore. What do you guys think?

Given the survey turnout I think it's safe to say this is a tour worth pursuing. Stay tuned for more updates on when this might take place and for further discussion on the available formats!

I'm sure a lot of people would have fun with this, but I don't believe it's really something we could sustain interest or support for afterwards. It also hasn't had any tiering action, so it's a very volatile format based on the roomtours we've played.

That said, if you want to include it feel free, I'm sure it would get more than enough signups.

Similarly I'd also want to bring up the potential to feature SwSh ND Ubers, as that tier did have some tiering action, and is currently supported in the ND Ubers subforum. It may not be as active as SV ND Ubers, but the meta developments if it was included would certainly help on some uncertainities within the community.
Additionally the userbase overlap with SV ND Ubers is sufficient to argue for proper slot filling within at least 4 teams.

Understandably so - and it's completely fine if it fizzes out afterwards but if there's enough interest in exploring it in a tour setting then we'd be happy to pursue it. At the end of the day the purpose of this tour is to regain momentum on SS formats that previously had a solid amount of activity. But if we can get some activity going on formats like DOU or Ubers that didn't get the chance last generation I can only see that as a win.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I think we really could have used an Ubers format last gen and I'd love to give the community an opportunity to explore what that format would have looked like. Let's circle back on this when we've got a timeline set on when this tour will take place and when we open up the format discussion.
