Project SS NU Matchmaking: Week 23 - Sirfetch'd

Rotom-Frost @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Nasty Plot
- Toxic
- Volt Switch

Rotom-Frost has great synergy with Garb, having both a eq and twave immunity allows it greatly pressure Garbodors most common check in Sandaconda. Garbodor provides a great fighting check for Rotom as well as great chip with helmet and aftermath and setting spikes to allow Rotom to break through cores after setting up

Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Psychic Fangs
- Iron Head

Silvally's a great partner for garbodor, as it makes Indeedee-F think twice before clicking Psychic and letting it in for free. Garbodor in return, helps combat the fighting types such as scarf Sawk(and sawks at full), Hitmonchan, and Toxicroak(scarf/vacuum wave) and as a bonus, sets up hazards to chip Silvally's checks.

Reserving Malamar
:ss/Malamar:
Malamar; more specific RestTalk Malamar; serves as a good and, imo, underrated partner for Garbodor. It is a great check to many psychic-types, that rely on fighting-coverage to hit dark-types, which all threaten Garbodor with super effective attacks. Its also a great pivot for Indeedee-F. The fact that you don't really care about status let's you switch into Sandaconda pretty freely. Knock Off is the most broken move right know and it's shown many times that we lack good answers to it, since we don't have megas or z-crystals.
On the other hand are Toxic Spikes or Spikes (depending on the Malamar-set) great support to either chip the opponent down or to let Malamar stall out some turns with toxic damage via RestTalk. Garbodor also deals with potential fairy- and bug-types that would force Malamar out.

:ss/Abomasnow:
Abomasnow is a Mon that loves Garbodor for dealing with Toxicroak's toxic nature while also not needing to worry about a few of its threats due to Toxic Spikes and them not wanting to switch in. Abomasnow can counter the best of the Spinners and Defoggers such as Eldegoss and Silvally-Water, which means Toxic Spikes will be up longer. Not only that, Abomasnow also counters Garbodors counters such as Sandaconda that is a huge threat in general.

reserving Gourgeist-Small

Gourgeist-Small @ Choice Band
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Power Whip
- Rock Slide
- Phantom Force

Gourgeist-Small provides important support for Garbodor, stopping Rapid Spin users right in their tracks. It also checks dangerous Ground-types like Sandaconda and Quagsire, who would normally try to exploit our garbage-heap friend. Not even Piloswine is safe from Gourgeist's wrath thanks to a STAB Choice Band-boosted Power Whip.

garbodor.gif

Garbodor, in turn, can take on Grass-types that are hoping to block Gourgeist's STAB. Gourgeist also benefits greatly from the hazards Gardbodor lays, as they assist in wearing down potential checks.

reserving clef clef

:ss/clefairy: :ss/garbodor:

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock/Teleport
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast/Seismic Toss

Clefairy can soak up high powered special moves for garbodor while complementing its hazard setting by being the team rocker. It can also provide garb some wish support since this garb variant doesn't run pain split and will need some assistance staying alive. Clefairy can also soak up a burn for garbodor since it doesn't mind having a damaging status. Alternatively if the team has another rocker clefairy can also run teleport to give more opportunities to pass wishes effectively.

The garbage pile is often used as a prime physical wall with its bulk and so it can in turn take physical hits for clefairy, especially in the form of resisting dangerous poison physical stabs such as gunk shots from Toxicroak.

:eldegoss:
Eldegoss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Rapid Spin
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed / Aromatherapy

(you can also run Synthesis / Pollen Puff / whatever else this thing uses in the last slot)

Eldegoss provides a ton of valuable support for Garbodor.
1) It can take on Ground-type attacks Garb is weak to, walling Sandaconda. (The spread is faster than 0 speed Sandaconda, for anyone curious about that - you can probably afford to run less speed and more defense, though)
2) Running a Spinner means that you can protect Garbodor from taking SR/Spikes chip damage without needing to remove the hazards Garbodor set up.
3) Sleep Powder provides opportunities for Garbodor to come in and set hazards, and Leech Seed can potentially help Garbodor recover health. If Grass-types switch in to block either of these moves, they give Garbodor a free setup opportunity.

In return, Garbodor can check Toxicroak for Eldegoss while also switching into the U-Turns aimed at Eldegoss to chip the opposing team.

Because Eldegoss struggles against Piloswine, a cool partner for these two mons could be a Water type like Wishiwashi/Silv-Water.

Final tip: running Phys Def Eldegoss lets you run a more SpDef spread on Garbodor in order to better check Cofagrigus if that is something your team needs.

Skuntank @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb
- Fire Blast

Skuntank does share the Ground weakness with Garb, but it is able to take the Psychic moves that Garb doesn't like as well as deal with mons that Garb sure as heck can't like Indeedee-F, Cofagrigus, and Dubwool. One little Nasty Plot or two, which is new to Skuntank this generation, and all those mons will start falling like flies.

Great job all of you for your submissions and voting. I thought Darkvally was going to win in a landslide there for a minute, but you guys kept it close. Well done! Let's keep it going!

Silvally-Dark - 7
Rotom-Frost - 5
Clefairy - 3
Malamar - 2
Gourgeist-Small - 2
Eldegoss - 2
Dubwool - 1
Abomasnow - 0
Skuntank - 0

Week 3
The next mon that needs some love is.............

Indeedee-F (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Trick

Due to its male counterpart getting better usage in RU, Femdeedee is one of the more likable mons here in NU thanks to its ability in Psychic Surge to go with its Psychic typing. It can function as a scarfer or as a wallbreaker with Specs and serves as a nice check to many things like Toxicroak and Garbodor. Let's see how you guys partner this thing up. Good luck!

reserving toxicroak
:ss/toxicroak:
Toxicroak at first doesn't seem like a good matchup because of Indeedee's Psychic Surge, however, Scarf Toxicroak requires no priority moves, you can also run special NP without Vacuum Wave.
Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Focus Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb

Toxicroak @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Cross Chop

Toxicroak is able to switch into Dark counters, as well as its Bug counters (though beware of Flying Bugs), and most notably, Knock Off. Indeedee can switch into Toxicroak's counters such as Indeedee, and users of Psychic Fangs.

Reserving clef

Clefairy (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Protect
- Teleport
- Wish

Clef is a great partner for indeedee, using teleport to get a slow pivot into alot of common switch ins such as garb, qwil and croak. It can also pass wishes and helps absorb status and soft check dark types that can threaten out indeedee

Reserving Alcreamie
alcremie.png

Alcreamie can sponge Dark-type attacks aimed at Indeedee. This gives Indeedee an incredibly useful safety net to fall back on if it predicts incorrectly against targets like Silvally-Dark. In exchange, Indeedee wrecks the Poison-types that try to switch in on Alcreamie's STAB.

now im reserving sawk lol

:ss/Sawk:
Sawk (M) @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

Sawk (or any other fighting-type really) serves a good teammate for Indeedee-F. It can take on the dark- and steel-types, that like to switch into Indeedee-F's psychic-type attacks. In return, Sawk appreciates Indeedee-F's ability to deal with poison- and ghost-types that try to get on Sawk's nerves.

Sandaconda @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Glare

This ol' anaconda works well with Femdeedee since #1 it provides Stealth Rock support to weaken down opposing mons, and #2 it deals with Steels including Togedemaru, Galarfisk, and Ferroseed. Since Indeedee-F is going to want to click Psychic most of the time during its Psychic Terrian, Sandaconda deals with those aforementioned Steel-types so it's less of a hassle. Glare also helps out Indeedee-F and her team since it can paralyze potential mons that outspeed it like scarfed Unfezant and Mime-G.
