Hey y'all! This Saturday I'm hoping to compete in my first showdown tournament with this team I've built. I haven't played in like a month but I got some moderate success laddering with this team and wanted to post it here.
Red Ranger (Weavile) @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- Low Kick
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
Weavile is the main offensive pressure of the team. It forms a really strong duo with Slowbro since it can tank so many hits for Weavile and allow it a free switch, while also providing chip extra chip.
Pink Ranger (Slowbro) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Teleport
- Future Sight
- Scald
- Slack Off
Slowbro has become one of my new favorite Pokemon, since it just switches in and doesn't die. It hard counters strong threats like Urshifu-R, Garchomp and Melmetal, which as previously mentioned is appreciated by Weavile. It also forms a really solid defensive core with Heatran and Lando, and I have one games by using just these three Pokemon before.
Orange Ranger (Heatran) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Taunt
The Toxapex slayer, Heatran is phenomenal at trapping and killing defensive mons like Toxapex, Corviknight and Ferro. Just the standard specially defenses set that pairs well with the team.
Gold Ranger (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Knock Off
I chose to go with a physically defensive support Lando as I felt this was the role he best serves (and I needed rocks). I went with knock off over toxic though I'm not sure which is actually the better option. I also realize that my team leans heavily towards defense and not nearly as much towards Sp. Def but I am thinking about switching the last Pokemon, but all the same I still feel like this is the best set for Lando.
Blue Ranger (Dragapult) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
Dragapult is here to help break through walls that would threaten to stall the rest of my relatively low damage team. Again, Slowbro is a godsend here as giving Pult as free switch is kinda insane. While I really like how the first four Pokemon function to create a cohesive team structure, I'm not as confident about Pult or the next Pokemon.
Silver Ranger (Corviknight) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost
Speaking of the next Pokemon, Corviknight is the one I find myself using the least on my team, typically only switching into Pokemon like Kartana or Celfable and not really able to do much else other than defog. Corviknight is the defogger I'm most familiar with, but I am open to suggestions for others to fill the role, or perhaps even switching Weavile to a Boots SD set and dropping defog all together.
