SS OU SS OU Hyper Offense Scarf Spectrier

Hello everyone, I have just started playing Showdown a few weeks ago and whipped up my own team, and I think it could use some improvements but I don't know how.

So as the title suggests, this is a HO team with Spectrier as its main sweeper. Azelf is for setup, Lando-T for getting rid of electrics/defogging, Mag to break walls (also function as a wall) and Cidnerace, Rillaboom and Spectrier to sweep.

1604858511923.png

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Explosion
- Magic Coat

Starting off with Azelf, I am running a suicide lead build with explosion and sash. against an offensive lead you would usually want to stealth rock first, and against another setup pokemon you might want to go for the magic coat. The expected move would usually be taunt so you can deflect it back and force a switch out or their offensive move, which won't one shot no matter what it is cause you run sash. There are of course exceptions, I would prefer to go for an Explosion against a Pheramosa since it can sweep the team after that.

1604858851494.png

Lando Doggo (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Defog
- Knock Off
- U-turn

I put Lando-T in the team as a counter to electric types like Regieleki or Scarfed Excadrill, but it functions well as a wall against other things anyways. a nice trick to do is to switch him in on eleki and defog the hazards while he switches out. The scarf means you will need to switch out though, but it allows you to outspeed quite a lot of things that normal Lando-T won't.

1604859281752.png

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt/ Focus Blast

Mag is a bit slow but she has a really high Special Attack, and in combination with her movepool is very versatile. The only problematic mons I face with her are Heatran and Zygarde, but otherwise is pretty good at what she does.

1604864247906.png

Spectrier @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Grim Neigh
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hex
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Mud Shot

Then we have the star of the show, Spectrier. Since I run it with scarf as well it can outspeed almost everything with a total speed of 591, including Timid Regieleki and scarfless Pheramosa (I don't think it's common, but I seen it before). It can also outspeed the more common Hex + Sub Spectrier and 1 shot it. It does not have a good bulk so a sucker punch to the face is definitely an OHKO and like I said, it struggles to beat normals or darks like Chansey or Tyranitar. That said, once you get rid of all those you should have a clear path to victory.

1604864289854.png

Cinderace (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Libero
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn

I'm sure you know what Cinderace does, a versatile and fast sweeper that was moved up to Uber before. Pretty self-explanatory, Life Orb + Libero equals a x1.95 boost to any attack it uses. It can get any dark or normal types Spectrier can't take down with High Jump Kick and Sucker Punch to beat down Dragapults or other Spectriers.

1604864793046.png

monke (Rillaboom) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Acrobatics
- Grassy Glide
- Knock Off

This slot was originally for Regieleki, but the electron was too frail and swamperts were everywhere so I switched it out for Rillaboom. I play Acrobatics with Grassy Seed because they synergise really well, as the seed will be consumed upon switch-in and will free up the item slot for Acrobatics. Great for getting rid of other Grass types.

So, there's the team. I would like to keep it as a HO team but if there is anything to tweak or change, please tell me in the comments. Bye!

Trade Flash Cannon and Tbolt for volt switch and iron head on mag. iron head lets you hit spdef fairy walls like lele that would otherwise beat mag 1v1 and volt switch for momentum

Hey there,

I like the idea of that, but will I have to get any atk evs on her? Also, I'm thinking about Shift Gear Mag. Should I stick to Vest or that?

You should try grassy seed, iron defense calm mind stored power draining kiss magearna, i don't think assault vest fits on that team Well.

I was thinking something like that but then I feel like it'd lose momentum setting up, at least with av it gets volt

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 224 SpD / 36 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Volt Switch
- Fleur Cannon
- Focus Blast/Ice Beam
- Iron Head

Not my set, but the smogon desc is as follows: 36 Speed EVs allow Magearna to outspeed uninvested Clefable, which gives it a good chance at beating Clefable. 22 Speed IVs without any Speed investment can be run to underspeed Celesteela, which allows Magearna to absorb Leech Seed for its teammates before pivoting out to them. If running Flash Cannon, a Calm nature should be used and the Speed EVs should be moved to Special Defense.

Hullo! I love this team, it's a great example of all the offensive powerhouses this gen has given us. This is miles ahead of my own first team, so I'd like to congratulate you for making this so well! With that, I'd like to give a couple of suggestions on how to maximize Spectrier's raw power:

482.png

Mew @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 64 HP / 112 Def / 80 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Magic Coat
- Ice Beam / Knock Off / Light Screen
- Air Slash / Acrobatics / etc etc.
Mew is, historically, a bulkier Azelf; but it works well as a lead (especially since you're running Hex Spectrier). Toxic Spikes can be used to spread status, which allows Spectrier to immediately get to work. There's a plethora of moves Mew has access to, including Knock Off and Acrobatics, which is especially useful for dealing with Pheromosa. Because of Mew's movepool, the EV's are incredibly adjustable, but bulk is probably best as it isn't a suicide lead and wants to live against Pheromosa U-turns. Synchronize is also an incredibly useful ability as a lead, because status-spreading mons (such as Toxic Swampert or Clefable) are becoming more common. Light Screen + Reflect are also viable, especially on a hyper offense team like this. Synchronize is also a great ability to have as a lead, but Magic Bounce can save Mew precious health by deflecting Toxic's or Thunder Wave. The other viable Toxic Spikes user is Toxapex, but it would add to the teams overall Ground weakness and doesn't have the ability to deflect status.

Magearna @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 80 HP / 184 SpA / 244 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind
- Dazzling Gleam
- Stored Power
Throwing my hat into the ring and offering this Magneara set. It does beautifully, with lots of natural bulk and power; and offers a touch of speed control with Shift Gears. Grassy Terrain is great recovery, allowing it to win 1v1 against bulky mons (Clefable + Blissey) especially if they lack Thunder Wave. Stored Power helps it check Toxapex, which can hurt the teams with Scalds + Knock Offs. Grassy Terrain also cuts the power of Earthquake, which makes opposing Lando-T's and Excadrills Magneara food. I'd really like to hear your thoughts about this set!

Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Pyro Ball
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
Trading Life Orb in favor of Heavy Duty Boots so Cinder can better act as a pivot, especially with Lando-T and Rillaboom in tow. It dovetails well off of the Magneara set, running Gunk Shot to deal with Fairy-types Magneara previously dealt with. The rest of the moves are the same, and self-explanitory. Adamant Nature is used over Jolly not because the speed isn't important, but because it gives a better chance at to KO Clefable and Dragapult with Gunk Shot and Sucker Punch, respectively.
EDIT: Just did the math; Adamant Gunk Shot at a max Defense + HP Clefable has a 31% chance to OHKO, and Adamant Sucker Punch against a standard Dragapult set (Jolly with max Speed and Attack) is a guarenteed kill. Meanwhile, Jolly Cinder 2HKO's Clefable after Leftovers, and Sucker Punch against Dragapult has a 68% chance to OHKO.

This is an excellent example of how quickly Magneara can snowball out of control, as well as self controlfrom the opponent (the last two Magneara sweeps I tried to use for examples resulted in the opponent having a very salty, very one-sided conversation. Much fun!)

Hello!

I really appreciate your suggestions and I will try them out. The one I think is most interesting is the Grassy Seed Mag, since you could just stored power after shift gear and all that to function as a sweeper. Mew definitely seems like a better choice after taking a look at it, and the boots + gunk shot on Cinderace can be unexpected and funny to play.

Again, I thank you for reviewing my team and your suggestions. Bye!
