Quality Control SS Rillaboom (QC 1/2)

[SET]
Life Orb (Rillaboom) @ Life Orb
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 64 Def / 192 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Grassy Glide
- Swords Dance
- High Horsepower / Wood Hammer / Knock Off / Superpower

[SET COMMENTS]

Set Description
=============
The combination of Life Orb and Swords Dance bolsters Rillaboom's offensive potential greatly. Fake Out deals essential chip damage versus Pokemon like frail Galarian Darmanitan and Porygon-Z. It also safely breaks Crustle's Sturdy, preventing it from KOing Rillaboom with Counter on a high Grassy Glide roll. Furthermore, it is instrumental in breaking Heatrans' eventual Air Balloon. Grassy Glide is a great STAB priority move that allows Rillaboom to beat Custap Berry users like Tapu Lele and Heatran if running High Horsepower or Superpower, Water-types like Primarina, Tapu Fini, Huge Power Azumarill, and faster Pokemon such as Porygon-Z and Galarian Darmanitan. High Horsepower beats Dracozolt and Modest Heatran, Wood Hammer beats Cresselia and Sylveon, Knock Off beats Aggron and Spectrier, Superpower beats Custap Berry Heatran, as well as most Registeel sets, Kartana without Choice Band and Giga Impact, and Custap Berry Ferrothorn. Both High Horsepower and Superpower beat Magnezone.
EVs
=============
Max Attack maximizes Rillaboom's chances of 3HKOing Choice Scarf Cresselia with Grassy Glide or OHKOing bulky Sylveon with Fake Out into Wood Hammer. The Speed allows Rillaboom to outpace Modest Heatran. The rest has been put in Defense to maximize Rillaboom's chance of surviving Choice Band Garchomp's Outrage.
Usage Tips
=============
In general, Rillaboom should use Fake Out on the first turn of battle. Exceptions include Ghost-type Pokemon, Pokemon that inflict damage on contact like Ferrothorn or Garchomp, physically bulky Pokemon like Registeel and Kartana, and Urshifu-S. Versus Garchomp or Urshifu-S, use Swords Dance on the first turn of battle followed by Grassy Glide. Most of the time, if you outspeed your opponent and they can't OHKO you, use Swords Dance T2 to avoid Life Orb recoil. Afterwards, pick the strongest move, or if all moves OHKO, use Grassy Glide. Versus frail and fast Pokemon like Galarian Darmanitan or Porygon-Z, Fake Out T1 into Grassy Glide T2 is your best bet.

[SET COMMENTS]

Set Description
=============
The combination of Grassy Seed, Grassy Surge, and Swords Dance allows Rillaboom to defeat common physical attackers like Metagross and Landorus-T. Grassy Glide allows Rillaboom to defeat Water-types like Primarina, Tapu Fini, Huge Power Azumarill, and Custap Berry users like Tapu Lele and Garchomp, while still being a great STAB priority move. Knock Off beats Spectrier, Metagross and Aggron. Acrobatics is useful against opposing Rillaboom. Wood Hammer allows Rillaboom to have a better matchup against Pokemon like Aromatisse, Superpower helps versus Magnezone, and Taunt helps against Stall Pokemon such as Corviknight, Registeel, and Ferrothorn.
EVs
=============
The HP EVs allow Rillaboom to survive Regieleki’s Hyper Beam, while the Attack and Defense EVs let Rillaboom 2HKO Dracozolt with Grassy Glide as long as it does not get two minimum damage rolls, and maximize its chances to survive two Outrages in that matchup. The Speed EVs allow Rillaboom to outspeed Adamant Metagross.

Alt EVs: 12 HP / 212 Atk / 184 Def / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
The HP and Defense EVs allow Rillaboom to survive a Wicked Blow from Choice Band Urshifu and outspeed bulky Urshifu sets. The remaining EVs have been dumped into Attack for a better matchup versus Choice Band Garchomp
Usage Tips
=============
Against Sitrus Berry Spectrier, make sure to use Swords Dance T1, then use Knock Off into Grassy Glide, since this sequence KOs the foe even after Rillaboom gets burnt.

[SET]
Assault Vest (Rillaboom) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 184 HP / 84 Atk / 240 SpD
Careful Nature
- Fake Out
- High Horsepower
- Wood Hammer
- Grassy Glide

[SET COMMENTS]

Set Description
=============
Assault Vest helps Rillaboom beat special attackers that would normally beat it, such as Naganadel and Choice Scarf Heatran. Fake Out can be used to break Heatran's eventual Air Balloon and additionally helps secure the Sawk matchup by breaking Sturdy and avoiding a potential Counter. High Horsepower beats Naganadel and Heatran.
EVs
=============
The HP and Special Defense EVs allow Rillaboom to survive Choice Scarf Heatran's Eruption. The remainder has been invested in Attack for the best chance to beat Naganadel.
Usage Tips
=============
Assault Vest Rillaboom is straightforward to pilot, as Fake Out is used T1 unless facing Ghost-type Pokemon or Garchomp and afterwards if you are faster than your opponent and/or the recoil doesn't matter then Wood Hammer should be used T2. If you are slower than your opponent and/or the recoil does matter then Grassy Glide should be used T2 it should also be used when the foe is chipped and in range of dying to Grassy Glide. When facing Magnezone, use a Grass-type move T1 to avoid an eventual Weakness Policy from being activated. and use High Horsepower T2.
[SET]
SubSeed (Rillaboom) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 136 HP / 140 Def / 232 Spe
Impish Nature
- Drum Beating
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Protect/Taunt

[SET COMMENTS]

Set Description
=============
The combination of Grassy Seed, Grassy Surge, and Leech Seed allows Rillaboom to stall out a lot of Pokemon in the metagame like non-Trick Metagross, Garchomp, or Aegislash. It sets itself apart from other Leech Seed users with its access to Drum Beating and Grassy Surge. Drum Beating reduces the Speed of faster Pokemon like Tapu Koko, Spectrier, and Garchomp, granting Rillaboom an extra turn of Leech Seed recovery in the process. Substitute and Protect both have similar purposes of stalling out the foe. Protect helps against Custap Berry users and Specs Magnezone, and Taunt stops opposing slower Taunt users and stops Taunt and recovery moves from Pokemon like Corviknight and Registeel.
EVs
=============
The given EVs allow Rillaboom to outspeed Spectrier after a Drum Beating. The HP allows Rillaboom to survive one Ice Beam from Choice Specs Fini, and the rest has been put in Defense for Pokemon like Regidrago and Urshifu
Usage Tips
=============
This Set is relatively easy to use. Against faster Pokemon that can't 2HKO you, use Leech Seed T1 so that you can Drum Beating T2 and stall them out afterwards. Against Custap Berry users, sets running Protect should make sure to sequence their Substitute and Protect turns so that when the foe is under 25% HP, you can use Protect. Against Slower Taunt Pokemon or Pokemon that have recovery moves, use Taunt T1 and re-apply the move whenever it runs out. Using Drum Beating twice is best when it 2HKOes the opponent or against Choice Scarf Users like Tapu Fini, and Sawk. Against slower Pokemon that don't have recovery moves use Leech Seed T1 and then alternate between Substitute and Protect or just substitute spam if you don't have Protect.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
The Subseed Set can run Grassy Glide over Drum Beating to let it 2HKO a few frail Pokemon like Choice Scarf Darmanitan-Galar and Choice Scarf or Custap Berry Tapu Lele. But generally, this is not worth dropping that move for since you lose the matchup versus Tapu Koko, Garchomp, and Spectrier.

The Life Orb Set can theoretically run Frenzy Plant with a Naughty nature to beat frail Avalugg by first breaking Sturdy with Fake Out and then using this powerful special move. As Avalugg is very rare, this is generally not worth it.

Set Description
=============
The combination of Life Orb and Swords Dance bolsters Rillaboom's offensive potential greatly to another level ('Another' works better if this is not the first sentence of the article). Fake Out is a good move against frail attackers like Darmanitan Galar, and it allows for damage to be dealt to the foe (I'm unsure of other matchups where it actually helps; could you help with that, QC?) Fake Out deals essential chip damage versus Pokemon like frail Galarian Darmanitan and Porygon-Z. It also safely breaks Crustle's Sturdy, preventing it from KOing Rillaboom with Counter on a high Grassy Glide roll. Grassy Glide is a great STAB priority move that allows Rillaboom it to beat Custap Berry users (like?), Water-types like Primarina, Tapu Fini, Huge Power Azumarill, and faster Pokemon (like?). High Horsepower beats for Dracozolt and Modest Heatran, Wood Hammer beats for Cresselia and Sylveon, Knock Off beats for Aggron and Spectrier, Superpower beats for Custap Berry frail variants Heatran, as well as most Registeel sets, Kartana without Choice Band and Giga Impact, and Custap Berry some Ferrothorn. Both High Horsepower and Superpower beat Magnezone.
EVs

Max Attack maximizes Rillaboom's chances of 3HKOing Choice Scarf Cresselia with Grassy Glide or OHKOing bulky Sylveon with Fake Out into Wood Hammer for the best damage rolls with Fake Out into Grassy Glide. The Speed for allows Rillaboom to outpace Modest Heatran,. (Period, no comma) The rest has been put Rest in Defense to maximize Rillaboom's chance of surviving Choice Band Garchomp's Outrage. for best damage rolls vs Garchomp.
Usage Tips
=============
Against non-Ghost-type Pokemon, use Fake Out T1. (Not true exactly: versus a Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Fake Out is worse than useless. Be more precise) Most of the time, if you outspeed your opponent and they can't OHKO you, use Swords Dance T2 to avoid Life Orb recoil. to avoid Grassy Terrain recovery for the foe (You Literally just said to Fake Out t1, the opponent will always have grassy terrain recovery. The point of Swords Dance is to give yourself less LO recoil). Afterwards, pick the strongest move, or if all moves OHKO, use Grassy Glide.

(I would like to see more attention here for complex matchups like Urshifu-S or Garchomp - how do you maximize your chances against those opponents? Also note how versus frail and fast Pokemon like Galarian Darmanitan or PZ, Fake Out into Grassy Glide is your best bet.)

Assault Vest helps Rillaboom beat special attackers that would normally beat it, such as Naganadel and Choice Scarf Heatran (various Rillaboom sets already beat various Heatran sets). Fake Out can be used to break Heatran's eventual Air Balloon and additionally helps secure the Sawk matchup by breaking Sturdy and avoiding a potential Counter. Fake Out is a good move against frail attackers like Darm-G and to get damage on your opponent (Im unsure what other matchups it actually helps in, can you help with it qc?). High Horsepower beats for Naganadel and Heatran.

Usage Tips
=============
Assault Vest Rillaboom is straightforward to pilot, as Fake Out is used T1 against non-Ghost-type Pokemon (Still not a fan of this wording) and afterward, the move that deals the most damage is used. (When to use Grassy Glide? Are there no exceptions to clicking Wood Hammer t2? When facing an unknown Magnezone, shouldn't I break sturdy with a Grass-type move instead of using High Horsepower straight away, lest I die to Metal Sound into WP-boosted Flash Cannon? This is seriously lacking in substance.)

The combination of Grassy Seed, Grassy Surge, and Leech Seed allows Rillaboom to stall out a lot of Pokemon in the metagame (True but vacuous - anything interesting we want to list here?). Substitute and Protect both have similar purposes of stalling out the foe (Okay, so in what matchups would we ever want Protect? Give me something here! Specs Magnezone or something), and Taunt stops opposing slower Taunt users and stops Taunt and recovery moves from Pokemon like Corviknight and Registeel, and Clefable (is this the most relevant Pokemon to name here?).
EVs

The given EVs allow Rillaboom to (The EVs are just numbers -they- don't do anything) outspeed Spectrier after a Drum Beating. The HP allows Rillaboom to survive one Ice Beam from for Specs Fini, and the rest has been put Rest in Defense for mons like Regidrago, and Glastrier. (Glastrier is not super relevant and I have my doubts about this mattering versus Regidrago. Maybe run some calcs versus Urshifu, see if it helps there?)
Usage Tips
=============
This Set is relatively easy to use. Against faster Pokemon that can't 2HKO you, use Drum Beating T1 so that you can Leech Seed T2 and stall them out afterwards. (Isn't it better to use Leech Seed t1 followed by Drum Beating, so you get more turns of recovery?) Against Custap Berry users, sets running Protect should make sure to sequence their your Substitute and Protect turns so that when the foe is under 25% HP, you can use Protect. Against Slower Taunt Pokemon or Pokemon that have recovery moves, use Taunt T1 and re-apply the move whenever it runs out., and whenever Taunt ends afterwards, if you have it, since they can't do a lot of damage to you, and you can stall them out.

Volcanion requires Wood Hammer and still has a 60%+ chance to win even then.), Water-types like Primarina, Tapu Fini, Huge Power Azumarill, and faster Pokemon such as Porygon-Z and Galarian Darmanitan. Fake Out T1 is the right choice unless you are facing Ghost-type Pokémon, Ferrothorn, Urshifu-S, or Garchomp (Still not a huge fan, there's also matchups like Registeel or Aggron where Fake Out gets resisted and completely healed from grassy terrain while you take LO chip. Rephrased it a bit.). Versus Garchomp or Urshifu-S, use Swords Dance on the first turn of battle followed by Grassy Glide. In these matchups, you should use Swords Dance T1 and use Grassy Glide T2 for Garchomp and Urshifu-S, Knock Off T2 if you have it for Ghost-type Pokemon, or Grassy Glide if you don't have Knock Off, and Superpower T2 if you have it for Ferrothorn. (Again this isn't wrong per se just really awkwardly written. I split it up into separate clauses. I think ghost types and ferro are pretty self-explanatory.) Please try to give specific examples when listing the utility of a move. Do not just broadly gesture in a direction like 'choice scarf users' or 'custap berry users' without telling me which ones it actually matters against.
