Zarude @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip
- U-turn
- Darkest Lariat
- Jungle Healing
the undisputed tier king of SS RU, let's see what we can come up with to increase its potency! last date for submissions is 2pm on thursday the 11th, gmt+5:30
wrote this down a while ago didnt seem to save lol. Boots Xurkitree is a good parnter for zarude. Xurkitree and zarude have good offensive synergy. Zarude can u-turn on pokemon like talonflame, crobat, togekiss, Golisopod, klefki stakataka Gweezing Cobalion, and more. These 2 go well together as xurkitree is able to cause volt turn shenanigans with zarude. Xurkitree not being choice locked makes it a far more threataning wallbreaker as it can immediatly swap moves to kill gastrodon rhyperior and Seismatoad. Steelix also gets chipped from energy ball allowing the 2 to where it down throughout a game. Xurkitree can volt switch on pokemon like Celebi dhelmise roserade with some chip like rocks to put it in lariat range. and many more pokemon to bring out zarude to threatan them. Now these 3 both struggle with a few pokemon Vileplume, Noivern, Steelix, scarf darm, Heracross, certain AV users and a little more. so you want just a bit more team support to deal with these threats.
252 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 202-238 (65.7 - 77.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Golisopod First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 208-246 (67.7 - 80.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Xurkitree Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Roserade: 67-80 (25.6 - 30.6%) -- 2.2% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Zarude Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 186-220 (71.2 - 84.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 420-495 (96.7 - 114%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
Suicune is a great partner as it checks dangerous Fire-types such as Darmanitan, Incineroar, and Chandelure for Zarude. It can also check Pokemon such as Entei for Zarude, as Fire-types are very dangerous for Zarude. Both, Zarude and Suicune, can alsoe check Zygarde-10% with Suicune threatening a burn on it with its STAB in Scald. Zarude in return can check bulky waters such as Milotic and Seismitoad for Suicune. Moreover Zarude can help versus Reuniclus. In general this core is pretty good as they are able to offensively check most of the tier, and Suicune can proceed to use Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Steelix as setup fodder to put more pressure on the opposing team, which Zarude likes.
Metagross @ Leftovers Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Atk / 76 SpD / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake - Toxic
Metagross and Zarude make good Partners since it benefits from Zarudes ability to pressure bulky waters like Suicune which Metagross can often struggle with. Zarude also benefits from Metagross's ability to check threats like Togekiss and Crobat which can make life easier for our beloved mr monke. Metagross can also threaten out Cobalion with Earthquake which can be useful for Zarude.
Togekiss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Defog
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
Togekiss is an amazing partner for Zarude, since it is able to check Fighting-types and U-turners such as Mienshao, opposing Zarudes, Heracross, and many others! While Zarude is able to check fierce Ground-and Rock-type Pokemon for Togekiss. Togekiss can also use Thunder Wave to cripple and slow down scarfers that will naturally threaten Zarude. Zarude also threatens electrics like Raikou and Xurkitree. However, Togekiss will be unable to viably check fighters like Cobalion and Pangoro. These two both have good defensive backbone/splashability which will make them good partners.
Choice Specs Toxtricity
Toxtricity @ Choice Specs
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Volt Switch
- Snarl
Choice Specs Toxtricity, in my opinion, is quite possibly the best partner for a pivot Zarude in the entire tier. Now, why would I think that, you ask? The answer is simple: VoltTurn. If Zarude clicks U-Turn on an incoming Flying-type like Togekiss or Crobat, Toxtricity can get a free switch in to absolutely shred whatever the opposing team sends out as a switch in to it. Additionally, Toxtricity is able to do some pivoting of its own, bringing in Zarude on threats such as Mimikyu and Dhelmise. On top of a vicious VoltTurn combination, pairing Toxtricity with Zarude also works out nicely as Zarude is able to check Ground-types such as Seismitoad, Gastrodon, and Zygarde-10% that threaten Zarude, while Toxtricity is able to wear down opposing teams in tandem with Zarude in order to clear the path for wall breakers and late-game cleaners on your team.
Cobalion @ Leftovers / Shuca Berry / Chople Berry / Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
Cobalion hates facing those pesky bulky Waters and can threaten Togekiss. Zarude can either kill or severely weaken those Waters and pivot on Togekiss as well as act as a status absorber. Cobalion can breathe a sigh of relief once those Waters are weakened and Togekiss is in range of a well-placed Iron Head. Swords Dance makes it even more dangerous of course! But overall, good partner for Zarude!
moving on, the pokemon we are going to set up for this week is:
Toxtricity @ Life Orb
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shift Gear
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Drain Punch
Toxtricity has made a name for itself as a brutal choice specs wallbreaker in SS RU. however, it is choice specs is not its only set as it can utilise a shift gear set to turn into a dangerous sweeper late-game. let's see what we can cook up to help it do its job! the deadline for submissions is 2pm friday the 19th, gmt+5:30
have fun!
Roserade makes up for a great teammate for Toxtricity as it can help it breaking down teams with setting some layers of Spikes on the field, to weaken opposing Pokemon and to help Toxtricity to get 2HKOes and OHKOes instead of 3HKOes or 2HKOes. Roserade also helps Toxtricity to get a setup opportunity with its move in Sleep Powder. Roserades Poison-type ATAB move is also able to have a chance in poisoning a target, which adds to the fact, that Roserade can help down weakening teams. Giga Drain keeps it healthy and spreads out damage onto Ground-types to help Toxtricity. Toxtricity can setup on Pokemon such as Togekiss and Crobat. It can also wear down Registeel with Drain Punch.
In overall these two are a great combo, as Roserade helps Toxtricity in wearing down opposing Pokemon and it also grants it a setup opportunity with sleeping an opponent due to Sleep Powder. Roserade can also weaken Ground-types or KO them outright so Toxtricity has it much easier in the lategame. Meanwhile Toxtrcity handles troublesome Pokemon for Roserade, such as Crobat.
Klefki can provide Spikes support to lower down Toxtricity checks such as Registeel, Steelix or Seismitoad while also providing screens to make it easier for Tox to set-up with Shift Gear.
