Project SS RU Matchmaking: Week 20 - Guzzlord (Submission) (DOUBLE POINTS)

:ss/darmanitan:
Boots Darmanitan is a Great teammate for toxtricity. This pokemon forces in bulky waters and rocks to land a toxic vs. Seismatoad, Gastrodon
Rhyperior being put into Lorb boomburst range by darm could be key in circumvening a sweep as tox cant normally ohko these but with some chip it now can. Tox and Darm also have a neat little volt turn combo. Darmanitan is able to bring tox in on other bulky waters like Milotic and suicune with U-turn to bring it in to wallbreak being a potentailly even more dangerous wallbreaker with no choice lock. Tox can also volt switch on grasses to bring in darm grasse's like roserade dhelmise celebi virizion and more. Darmanitan can also force in Rhyperior and toxic it opening up Toxtricity to sweep lategame as that pokemon is one of its roadblocks to sweeping. Darm in some situatuions can even sack itself to pokemon like stakataka and Rhyperior just to get damage to let tox sweep or break open a big hole later. Darm is also able to threatan steelix with a 2hko cause of sturdy to put it in tox range. Darms ability to force damage on would be roadblocks to toxtricity along with its good offensive synergy make it a great teammate

Scarf Zarude is an excellent teammate teammate for shift gear Toxtricity. It does incredibly well against common Toxtricity checks such as Rhyperior and Stakataka while being able to offensively check a huge offensive threat in Marowak-Alola. Spdef Steelix can be an issue but it has very little offensive presence and is easy to switch into. Both Toxtricity and Zarude are able to pivot on their checks to keep momentum, creating a very strong volt-turn combination.

Toxtricity is given plenty of good setup opportunities with Zarude U-turning on its own answers like Talonflame, Crobat, Weezing-Galar and Togekiss, all of which are easily threatened out by Toxtricity.

Toxtricity always appreciates some physical offense hard hitting offense with it since its so good specially. Toxtricity struggles vs bulky grounds, and mienshao with its physical attack can overwhelm them, since you can only invest in one of the defense along with hp.

Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Aura Sphere
- Scald
raikou's pivot set is definitely one of SS RU's metagame staples, but it can also turn into a monster of mayhem should it choose to run a calm mind set. lets see what we can do to help bolster its sweeping potential!
deadline for submissions is thursday the 25th, 9pm!

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Jungle Healing
- Power Whip
- Darkest Lariat
- U-turn

Zarude provides as a great partner to cm raikou as it can come in safely on raikou check like seismitoad and gastrodon and force them out by attempting to kill them power whip then repeat the process by u-turn prediction until zarude finally kills them hence allowing raikou to sweep the opposing team. Raikou also helps zarude out with pokemon it struggles against like crobat togekiss and weezing galar.

Togekiss is a ground immunity which any electric type would appreciate. Togekiss is also a good switch-in for zarude and other grass types. And even if you struggling, you can pray to the rng gods.

Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- U-turn

Noivern is a great partner for Raikou, as it can switch into troublesome Ground-types such as Seismitoad and it can pressure Seismitoad for Raikou, Noivern can dish out a strong STAB Draco Meteor into its direction to weaken it for the lategame aspect for Raikou. Furthermore Noivern excells great as a Fighting-type check. Noivern can also pivot for Raikou and the rest of their teammates with the help of U-turn. Noivern excells pretty well at doing these tasks due to access to Roost. Raikou in return can pressure bulky Water-types such as Milotic and Suicune. It can also put on pressure on Steel-types such as Registeel, which might cause trouble for Noivern. In general the core is pretty good in the tier as both have a great Speed tier and therefore allow for speed control.

Flygon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 156 Def / 96 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog / Toxic

- Earthquake
- U-turn

I think Physically Defensive Flygon is a very solid teamate for Raikou. This Flygon is Evd to outspeed togekiss and EVd to not be 2hkod by Cobalion. Now many pokemon immune to ground are weak to rock meaning there not good swap ins to Rhyperior or rock plus ground coverage enter Flygon. This Flygon set is able to check Notably a few pokemon that would trouble Raikou and even more. A few of these pokemon are Rhyperior being very notable as Rhy is very hard to swap into, Scarf Darmanitan, Some Metagross, non ice beam Gastrodon(lack of clear smog can be taken advantage of mons like Reuniclus), Cobalion, Xurkitree, Raikou( These 2 could volt switch to gain momentum into a check like roserade), Steelix, Non Moonblast Diance, Scarf Tyrantrum. Flygon is also able to turn its defensive utility into Momentum with U-turn. Flygon can even have a neat little volt turn with Raikou being able to u-turn on Crobat, Togekiss, Tornadus, Golisopod.

U-turn is mainly just for keeping momentum and pivoting. Flygon's ability to pivot around dangerous threats alone highly Valuable along with its defensive profile. Flygon is actually a pretty consistant defog user being able to thwart almost all the sr users and some of the spikes users and if it can't it can u-turn out. this Raikou set has no boots so this could help. or if there is not need for defog Flygon could run toxic to become far more threatening as it spreads toxic very reliably landing this on a bulky grounds which isn't unlikely could open up Raikou a ton or hit another important target like p2 to where down. Another thing to mention is this flygon set does not like status so cleric support would be appreciated though not nesesary.

In Cineraire (Incineroar) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 52 SpA / 48 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Overheat
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Toxic

Mixed Incineroar is a great partner for Raikou. Incineroar is able to force toxic onto bulky grounds like Gastrodon and Seismitoad, who are able to switch in to Raikou's electric stab, wearing them down to put them in range of Raikou's coverage. Incineroar is also able to cripple Togekiss with knock off and toxic, while Raikou threatens to KO it. This will often pressure the opponent into sacking Togekiss, which greatly opens up incineroar to land toxic on the bulky Grounds it wants to or have them sack togekiss opening up threats like Zardue. Incineroar is also able to check several grasses that would otherwise be able to switch into Raikou like Roserade, Vileplume, Zardue and Dhelmise. Knock off in particular allows Vileplume and Zardue variants carrying HDM to be chipped down more easily. Incineroar can also U-turn on its own checks switching in to give Raikou setup oppurtunities late game. This set is EVd to Ohko cobalion and take 2 Raikou scalds.

52 SpA Incineroar Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Cobalion: 324-384 (100.3 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO 52 SpA Incineroar Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Roserade: 236-282 (90.4 - 108%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
