Hello all:
This is a very good uber stall team, peaking at 13th on the smogon ladder.
It focuses around a 4-pokemon defensive core which, together, can take pretty much anything.
Now, without further ado, here are the pokemons:
Note that none of these pokemon have a particular lead slot, I just listed them in a random order.
Kyogre @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: +252 Speed, +252 Spec. Attack, +4 HP
Nature: Modest
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
Kyogre is mainly the bringer of rain which helps the team and a revenge killer. The moves and set are quite standard, so I won't elaborate much on him.
Arceus @ Leftovers
Ability: Multitype
EVs: +252 HP, +188 Def, +68 Spec. Def
Nature: Impish
- Roar
- Recover
- Will-o-wisp
- Stealth Rock
The king of walls, wallceus, makes his entrance on my team. Though it may seem to be a shame to waste Arceus' amazing, ability, the normal type has the fantastic state of only having one weakness. In addition, without having a plate as an item Arceus can now have leftovers for superior recovery.
Arceus here has been created to be an amazing physical wall. Wallceus burns everything but fire types and can phaze away all pokemon save for those with magic bounce.
Although Arceus here is taunt fodder, I find that when it first switches in, it is rare for a taunt user to come up because most extremekiller counters do not carry taunt. Therefore, stealth rocks and burning at least 1 pokemon can happen.
Possible Changes: Stealth rock on arceus can be swapped out for spikes, and stealth rock subs in for spikes on ferro. If Stealth Rock is already supplied by another member, any attacking move can be put on instead. If you are worried about Baton Pass teams, Roar or Stealth Rock can be replaced by Perish Song.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: +252 Spec. Def, +112 Hp, +140 Def
Nature: Impish
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
The pokemon that has compeltely revolutionized 5th Gen OU makes its way to ubers here. This thing is a key cornerstone of my defensive team. It can take on pretty much anything without a fire attack, and leech seed up for recovered health. Gyro Ball is its attack, hitting fast pokemon like Skymin and Mewtwo for decent damage. This thing makes a decent mewtwo counter, although auto sphere and fire blast are not your friends. Protect is key here, since it gets another turn of lefties and leech seed recovery as well as wasting PP of moves like Water Spout.
Possible Changes: Switch out spikes for stealth rock. Note that then arcues should not be using stealth rock. Also, power whip can be subbed for gyro ball to hit Pakia, Kyogre, and Groudon better.
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: +252 HP, +76 Def, +180 Spec. Def
Nature: Calm
- Rapid Spin
- Protect
- Toxic Spikes
- Ice Beam
Tentacruel. It takes Specs water spouts like a tank, rapid spins away key entry hazards, and sets up the deadly toxic spikes that are the bain of many uber pokemon like Arcceus (non steel or poison type), Darkrai, Mewtwo, Reshiram, and Zekrom. I choose Ice Beam over Scald both to hit Dragons and Skymin better, but also because there is Will-o-Wisp on Arceus and Giratina. Rain dish is chosen over liquid ooze because with protect stalling every second turn, Tentacruel can get quite a bit of recovery that way.
Possible Changes: If Ferrothorn is truly a problem, liquid ooze can be subbed in instead. Also, Scald can replace Ice Beam is Ice Beam is deemed too weak.
Shaymin-S @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EV's: +252 Speed, +252 Spec. Attack, +4 HP
Nature: Timid
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
Skymin, the troll pokemon. So many times, many teams get up 4-1 but then Skymin simply sweeps them all. The reason why? Usually by the time I'm down that far, I have stealth rock and a couple layers of both spikes and toxic spikes. So, all Skymin has to do is sub up and then air slash or leech seed as appropriate. After taking entry hazards damage, toxic and leech seed plus air slash will simply whittle them down very effectively. There is only one known counter - Inner Focus, or a pokemon that is faster, namely Deoxys, Deoxys-A, and Mewtwo. Honestly, while it is kinda cheap, it also has the ability to sweep away people who accuse it of being cheap.
Giratina @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Evs: +252 HP, +52 Def, +204 Spec. Def
Nature: Careful
- Dragon Tail
- Will-o-wisp
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Giratina is basically my iron wall. Few things manage to crack his gigantic HP stat, and even less when they are either burned or poisoned. Giratina on my team is mainly a special wall, something different than usual. Why? Becuase Mewtwo, who would else be able to give this team a lot of trouble, can now only 3hko girtina, meaning that if poisoned, taking LO recoil, and took SR and spikes, can be resttalk stalled by Giratina. In addition, this thing can sit there and tank stuff from almost anything special attacker, and burn the physical ones.
How I Counter Common Threats:
(note that bolded = more dangerous threat)
Specs Ogre - Giratina, Tentracruel, or Ferrothorn on the switch in after a death or on the first turn (can't switch in)
Scarf Ogre - Giratina, Tentacruel, Ferrothorn
Reshiram - Kyogre, Arceus, Tentacruel
Zekrom - Ferrothorn, Arceus
Mewtwo - Giratina
Dialga - Tentacruel, Arceus, Giratina, Ferrothorn (not all of these will always work, but one will depending on the set)
Extremekiller - Giratina, Arceus, Ferrothorn
Skymin - Tentacruel, Giratina, Ferrothorn
Giratina-O - Ferrothorn, Tentacruel
Giratina - Ferrothorn, Skymin
Ferrothorn - Arceus, Skymin (be sure it's either burned or WONT use gyro ball/thunder wave/toxic)
Darkrai - Tentacruel, Ferrothorn, Skymin (for revenge kill only)
Ho-oh - Arceus, Kyogre, Giratina
Lugia - Ferrothorn, Giratina
Palkia - Ferrothorn (watch out for fire Blast), Tentacruel, Giratina
Groudon - Arceus, Ferrothorn
Rayquaza - Arceus, Ferrothorn (watch out for Overheat)
Suggestions? Tips? Glaring deficiencies? Feel free to post. You can criticize as much as you want, just no simple trolling please.
