[OVERVIEW]
Stakataka's sky high Defense and rock bottom Speed allow it to be a very unique Trick Room setter in the current metagame. Twinned with its amazing bulk, Stakataka possesses a base 131 Attack stat and a great typing that allows it to duel common Fairy-types in metagame such as Xerneas and Grimmsnarl, as well as common Flying-type threats such as Charizard and Yveltal. Beast Boost is also an exceptional ability that allows Stakataka to either snowball offensively or become a great wall in front of foes. That being said, it also has some of the worst weaknesses in the current metagame with two 4x weaknesses to Ground and Fighting. Its low Speed also makes it incredibly reliant on Trick Room to be effective, often making it require redirection support from Indeedee-F or Amoonguss.

[SET COMMENTS]
* Gyro Ball is Stakataka's primary source of damage, with its extremely low Speed allowing it to hit for full power against almost the entirety of the metagame, but it is particularly potent against Xerneas, Zacian-C, and Calyrex-S. It can also be used to boost its Defense even further with Max Steelspike.
* Rock Slide is a nice STAB spread move for Stakataka that allows it to set the sand via Max Rockfall, patching up its Special Defense in the process. It is also the best move for Stakataka to hit Pokemon that resist Steel such as Charizard and Ho-Oh, which it would otherwise struggle to hit. Body Press uses Stakataka's enormous Defense stat to deal good damage to targets such as Incineroar and Ferrothorn, as well as boosting its Attack as far as 2 two stages when Dynamaxed thanks to Beast Boost. This also allows it to effectively ignore Intimidate.
* Trick Room allows Stakataka to serve as the team's form of speed control, while also benefitting from it itself due to being the slowest Pokemon in the current metagame.
* Protect is a consistent way to help increase the longevity of Stakataka, and it also allows it to avoid opposing Fake Out that would otherwise disrupt it from using Trick Room. Wide Guard allows Stakataka to completely block moves that would prove problematic to it and its partners, such as Kyogre's Water Spout, Groudon's Precipice Blades, and Landorus-T's Earthquake, but this is far less consistent at protecting Stakataka.
* The use of a Lonely nature and 17 Defense IVs allows Stakataka's Beast Boost to boost its Attack rather than its Defense.
* Chople Berry is often being used to survive Jolly Zacian-C's Close Combat and KO in return with Gyro Ball. Shuca Berry helps Stakataka survive even the strongest Ground-type moves in the game such as Groudon's Max Quake and +2 Solgaleo's Earthquake. Life Orb generally allows Stakataka to function better as an offensive presence, but it comes at the cost of recoil and being more easily dealt with by these threats.

Other Options
=============
Stakataka can run alternative coverage moves such as Heat Crash and High Horsepower for dealing with opposing Steel-types Pokemon such as Dialga and Zacian-C. However, this often means foregoing one of Stakataka's STAB moves, making it generally less effective overall. Stakataka can also learn decent supportive moves in Ally Switch and Skill Swap. Ally Switch can help the team with greater positioning and can also catch opponents by surprise to gain momentum. Skill Swap is often used with ally weather setters such as Torkoal, Groudon, and Kyogre in order to keep the team's preferred weather up.
