Stall, Stall, Stall, Sweep!

Hello, RMT. I have recently began to test out the NU metagame (I barely ever play pokemon, and thought it might be fun). I hopped on #neverused a couple times, accidentally screwed up the monotype teambat, and now I'm here with the team I've been using. It peaked somewhere around 150th, so It's not too bad...I think.

Anyways, Team Overview:

Basically, Team StStStSweep focuses on stalling as much as possible with Cryogonal, Miltank, and Quagsire, until the enemy team is weak enough for a Sawk / Swellow sweep, with Rotom providing trick and revenge killing throughout.

In-Depth:

Rotom-S @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate -.-
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Air Slash
- Trick

Rotom is here for revenge killing mostly, and gaining momentum with Volt Switch. Thunderbolt is for situations where Volt Switch will not do enough damage, or when switching would be detrimental. Air Slash allows him to revenge Sawk, as well as put out damage on the many grass types. Trick is absolutely amazing for messing with walls, especially eviolite ones. A favorite use of Rotom is to steal an eviolite from something, then so kindly give it to one of their sweepers later in the match.

Miltank @ Leftovers
Trait: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Atk
Careful Nature (+SpD, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Toxic

I use a Specially Defensive Sap Sipper Miltank to provide excellent synergy with Quagsire, easily eating any grass attacks aimed towards him, as well as random leech seeds, sleep powders, and stun spores. During this process, Miltank will nab a handy attack boost to help its respectable Body Slam. Heal Bell is a necessity for walling, while Heal Bell is very useful for keeping Cryogonal and Quagsire toxic-free, as well as saving my sweepers from paralysis and the occasional burn. I use toxic because it is very useful for putting a timer on, well, everything. It helps power through walls and weaken sweepers so that my revenge killers can finish them off.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Trait: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Toxic

This Quagsire can wall every physical sweeper (except for Cacturne, obviously!) with complete ease. He forms a tough-to-break core with Miltank, easily handling any fighting types wishing to hit her super-effectively, while Miltank will happily eat any delicious grass attacks! Recover and Toxic are standard on walls, allowing him to easily damage any Pokemon, even those that resist his attacks. Scald and Earthquake allow it to utilize its good STABs, hitting many pokemon for neutral or SE damage.

Sawk @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Toxic
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Sawk is an excellent revenge killer, who can also use his monstrous power to spam close combat at the end of the game, once the opponent's physical walls are out of the way. Close Combat is for STAB, while EdgeQuake provides good coverage. Toxic on a choiced Sawk is for nailing obvious switch-ins like Quagsire, Tangela, and Missy, putting them on the backfoot.

Swellow @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Facade
- Quick Attack
- Brave Bird
- U-Turn

Swellow is my second sweeper, and is just as capable as Sawk as running through a team. Facade is amazing with the Guts boost, while Brave Bird is another useful STAB against common grass types like Eggxecutor and Tangela. U-Turn can make a good Volt-Turn annoyance with Rotom, and is generally good for free damage. I chose Quick Attack over Protect, so I can easily power through Absol and Cacturne without problems.

Cryogonal @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 144 SDef / 112 Spd
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic
- Rapid Spin

After making the first five members of my team, I realized Swellow and Rotom could not do their jobs nearly as well with Stealth Rock up, and hazards broke Sawk's sturdy as well. Since my team was so hazards weak, I needed a spinner, and Cryogonal is among the best. Recover is to allow it to stay alive through its SR weakness, while Ice Beam allows it to out-damage many spinblockers like Haunter and Missy. The speed allows it to Rapid Spin against some stuff that it may not have (I don't know exactly, I just randomly stuck it on), since Miltank is already walling special attackers back and forth.

Thanks for reading! I may post up a threatlist later, once I truly weed out what is a big threat to my team. Of course, you raters will realize that a lot better than I will.

For a stall team you sure are wrecked by opposing Sawk, I remember playing this team and just spamming CC with SR down and everything was 2hko'd or OHKO'd. You really could use a Psychic-type over one of your mons. I think the mon you can most get rid of safely is Quagsire, and replace it for Mesprit. Mesprit gives you Stealth Rock, which your team is kind of lacking. For a "stall team" to work effectively, you should rely more on passive damage to soften up the opponent's team, not just weak and probably resisted hits. Mesprit also allows you to up the tempo once you're ready to "sweep" by U-turning slow, so one of your sweepers can come in for free. Once you replace Quagsire with Mesprit, I think you can safely change Miltank to Lickilicky. This gives you Wish support to keep your entire team healthy, and allows you to phaze the opponent, racking up damage and keeping dangerous sweepers from setting up.

Here are the sets:

Mesprit@Leftovers
252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
Bold
-Stealth Rock
-Psychic
-Toxic
-U-turn

Lickilicky@Leftovers
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful
-Wish
-Protect
-Heal Bell
-Dragon Tail

GL with the team!
