welp recently my teambuilding has gone kind of backwards, ive been inconsistent in countering EVERYTHING (playstyles and individual pokes, not two and two together), which is common for me. I don't have the patience, nor consistency of logical intelligence, to play anything but HO. no probs with that though, HO is one of the easiest and most fun styles to play.
This team: Recently i ran across klefkiholder's charX set, with Tpunch over EQ, to handle azumarill. I didn't think much of it at first, but then realized all it did was this: it made heatran its counter rather than azumarill. and many heatran can't do a ton to charX anyways (offensive variants can) besides roar. So i decided to give it a shot in an HO format. boy did this thing turn out good.
if somebody can tell me how to fix the two spoilers issue that would be great.

Char-X+Deo-D
Char-X+Deo-D
Obvious hazard support is obvious, but i also really wanted to run a set with dual screens. i knew charX wouldnt be my only setup sweeper, and they all reap benefits of screens.
Char-X+Deo-D+Azumarill
One of the biggest threats in OU and maybe my new favorite setup sweeper (more like hole puncher), azumarill. BD azu is great, and i figure will be much more reliable behind screens.
Char-X+Deo-D+Azumarill+Gothielle
Didnt make the final cut obviously, but Specs gothielle was gonna be my perpetual heatran killer.
Char-X+Deo-D+Azumarill+Gothielle+Latios
Needed a fatass hole puncher and defogger, with good special attack and defog. meet latios.
Char-X+Deo-D+Azumarill+Gothielle+Latios+Thundurus
Im gonna be really honest: besides versatility, i really don't know why thundurus is S rank, its not THAT threatening as a sweeper. Don't get me wrong however, it is threatening especially due to to its unpredictability. i decided to run the mix version, to have a backup attacker and superpower's "recoil" not hurt as much.
After testing, realized gothielle with specs really wasnt fast enough, and didnt have amazing offensive power either. while decent, it really made me feel like this team wasnt living up to its potential. I felt like i needed something else
Char-X+Deo-D+Azumarill+Landorus-I+Latios+Thundurus
There is a reason this dude is S rank. his amazing special coverage and versatility makes him an incredible special attacker, and with high speed, he has great hole-punching capabilities alone. however while it still handles tran, many trans wont stay in, but they will be forced out eventually, so i decided just play it and don't worry.
after testing another major flaw was it COULD NOT handle quagsire without gothielle. I decided to replace hp ice on thundy to grass knot, allowing me to have a decent way of dealing with quag. latios and lando are okay counters as well.

In Depth
Deoxys-Defense @ Light Clay
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Light Screen
- Reflect
This team is based around set-up sweepers azumarill and mega-charizard-X, and both love stealth rock support, but one of the underrated things they both almost need is screens. Azu can BD much more easily without having to worry about other threats, and thats key. to be honest, i dont care about having superpower to kill bisharp. "ohh they will just pursuit"- you are stupid. EVERY DEO-D CARRIESFUCKING SUPERPOWER! When i play bisharp i never go for pursuit on deo-D, i go straight for knock off. if he switches, knock off what comes in, if not, oh well, i wouldve been killed anyways. thats called USING YOUR BRAIN! Since i run 2 setup sweepers, i want to be sure to run deo-D, as i can get off screens multiple times during many battles.
I present to you: the most potent sweeper in the current meta, hands down:
Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze/Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
Charizard got a big buff this gen, and its two mega evos make it just that much better. This T-Punch set belongs to KlefkiHolder. really one of the only offensive counters to chariardX once its set up is azumarill, with its bulk, typing, and power. this set sacrifices the coverage of heatran to gain that of azumarill, which for me, is very convenient. Maybe im crazy, but ive found heatran easier to counter this gen, despite the introduction of items such as Air Balloon. I really dont wanna sit here and talk about the mega charizard-X sweeper you already know, but thunder punch has no sacrifice in coverage, really heatran is the only poke that resists both dragon claw and flare blitz besides azumarill, which this set counters. if you can counter them both, good for you. and don't share your set because if you do this dude will be banned to ubers.
what, thats not azumarill? damn i can't tell the difference
Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Superpower
#sweep machine. not much to say here. i run superpower over waterfall because:
1. usually the first poke i bring in after Deo-D, with the purpose of punching massive holes in every team. superpower gives more coverage and most of what waterfall kills aqua jet kills anyways. this Buff bunny is a tank, takes hits and then obliterates whatever it touches. bring an army, some artillery, and a diamond wall.
Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Wave
Almighty Landorus-I. welcome to one of the mostbroken powerful wallbreakers in OU. this thing just is a hole puncher-and deals with many common stall pokes well. it also obliterates fairies with sludge wave, and is also a major counter to many common stall threats, such as venusaur, heatran, and skarmory. Landorus isint only a stall breaker-he is powerful against hyper offense, bulky offense, and balanced, as his 331 speed is enough to outspeed many common threats and either ohko or put a huge hole in them. and added benefit of landorus is its ability to ohko almost all ferrothorn, and most steel types in general. when in doubt, just hit earth power.
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Defog
Defogger neccesary for the team, idk why i have to even bother explaining this. this is also backup to help handle quagsire, which is a monstrous threat to this team. its really the only part of stall i have a hard time handling. ice beam>other coverage moves in general, destroys landorus/etc. and i hate it when idiots run modest on latios, it needs timid to outspeed many things.
Zues himself. thats why i win, i have the power of the gods. gg in advance
Zeus (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild/Hasty Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Thunder Wave
- Superpower
Classic mixed thundy, to me by far the best set. life orb is best item for me, gives it the best power. personally i use grass knot over hidden power ice for quagsire, which shits on my dick otherwise. i have run Mild and have yet to run into a situation where hasty will outspeed and Mild wont, but i know its coming and i am switching to hasty soon. Twave spam is great and helps any lack of speed on this team. while this dude doesnt hit all that hard, it hits hard enough, and i love bluffing defiant on this dude. it doesnt happen often i am able to bluff since it really isint simple to do, but when it happens and somebody switches in a physical wall its fun to watch it get obliterated.
Update: always running hasty (outspeeds modest greninja among others)
Threats:
Stall w/ unaware, mostly quagsire:
while no longer crippling as a weakness, my team really does not enjoy it stockpiling. if it does i wait for a crit and thats about it. although this helps: 252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Quagsire: 394-464 (100 - 117.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Aegislash:
If i dont use my brain or am careful, this thing can eat my team for breakfast. i hate it hate it hate it. it really doesnt work well for me but is a pain to play against. at least it is predictable.....
Bisharp:
Since i don't run superpower on deoxys, it can trapkill it, and i need to be careful against it or else i could end up getting key pokes killed. the thing doesnt like azumarill, especially behind screens, though.
Mega Mawile
This dude isint fun to deal with, if he gets off an SD i am pretty much fucked. i have to be careful, if i predict right i can kill it relatively easily
Greninja
Thorn in my side. I have a somewhat hard time using it, but it can rip apart my team. if i can twave it however its dead weight for my opponent.
more to be added.
After about 3 hours of testing i have determined this is easily the most complete team ive ever made. all Advice is appreciated, but feel free to discuss the team in general, as that helps me just as much
record: 25-7 (so far) (started at 1400)
Leave a rate, discuss, argue about thundurus, have fun! :)
