XY OU Starbroom(name of team)

Hey guys, Nam here, I'm not exactly an excellent player so can ya please help me with my team? c:
The team I'm gonna show ya soon works well with each other (I think :3) As I will talk more about later on. c:
Sorry if the amount of words I put into each description of a pokemon is short, I'm not a man of many words as some would say. :P

Starbroom:

Pokemon: Tyranitar
Item: Focus Sash
EVS: 252 HP / 132 ATK / 124 SpA
Nature: Naughty
Moveset:
Stealth Rock
Crunch
Fire Blast
Ice Punch

I chose T-Tar other than like a Skarmory as a hazard setter-upper(?) because of T-Tar having Ice Beam. I chose Ice Beam mainly to take care of pokemon like Gliscor, Landorus(T/I) if they are trying to set up hazards/stat boosts. If they do set up hazards, I can remove it with my Mew's Defog later on in the battle. Ice Beam can also deal with threats like Breloom, this is because when the breloom for some reason doesn't spore, I ice beam and they get knocked out by the Sandstorm. I chose Stealth Rocks because it'll hit all pokemon and break potential sashes. Crunch and EQ were chosen as coverage moves. :P

Pokemon: Keldeo
Item: Choice Specs
EVS: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Timid
Moveset:
Hydro Pump
Scald
Secret Sword
Hidden Power Electric

Keldeo is a great sweeper as with Specs, it'll take out a lot of Pokemon. It's also amazing as a late game sweeper as with it's pretty good speed at 108 BST, it'll outspeed a lot of Pokemon. With the Choice Specs and it's base 129 SpA, it's a great late game special sweeper. I chose Hydro Pump for power to take out pokemon that can live a scald. I chose Scald instead of a move like Icy Wind because I need accuracy to hit Pokemon, also a 30% of burning is alright, halving the opposing Pokemon's attack stat. Secret Sword to take out a lot of Pokemon, obviously. And HP Bug to take on Psychic Types and some grass types. I also ran 252 speed because I need to outspeed Pokemon like Megacham if they are Jolly and outspeed Keldeo and OHKO Keldeo with a Zen Headbutt or something.

Pokemon: Mew
Item: Leftovers
EVS: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 DEF
Nature: Calm
Moveset:
Will-O-Wisp
Knock Off
Defog
Roost

Mew is a great support wall, as it's 100 Special Defense with 252 EVs invested in it will wall a lot of special attacks like a Latias's Life Orb Draco Meteor which does like 40%, which you can easily recover with roost. I also choose Roost to scout for how much damage a certain move does. I run Will-O-Wisp to cripple a lot of physical attackers. As I usually lead with this thing, I wisp the opposing Pokemon. If it's a Pokemon like Tyranitar or Landorus-T and the Wisp lands, their attack will be lowered greatly, and after that, I send out my Mawile with Intimidate to lower it's stats even further and setup. I run Defog to get rid of Hazards which could damage my Pokemon a lot, especially if it's stealthies against my Talonflame. Finally, I run Seismic Toss to hit every Pokemon neutrally but ghost types to get some damage off while they're being crippled and damaged by my Will-O-Wisp.

Pokemon: Mawile
Item: Mawilite
EVS: 232 HP / 252 ATK / 24 Spe
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
Swords Dance
Play Rough
Sucker Punch
Iron Head

Mawile perfectly fits in with my Mew as I explained in the Mew description thingy. After the Mew will-o-wisps a physical attacker, I switch in to Mawile, get the intimidate off, bring their attack stat down incredibly low and just setup with Swords Dance. If they continue to stay in, I'll carry on Swords Dancing until they switch. I run Play Rough to get off a ton of damage as STAB + Huge Power is amazing. Especially if it's boosted by SD. Even if it's not, it does quite a good bit of damage. I run Sucker Punch to have priority of attack and attack the opposing Pokemon first unless they're faster and have a priority move as well. Finally, I run Iron Head instead of Fire Fang because of Pokemon like Mega Venusaur. Iron Head ignores the thick fat and just hits it. I wouldn't use sucker punch just in case they leech seeded.

Pokemon: Talonflame
Item: Choice Band
EVS: 4 SpD / 252 ATK / 248 HP
Nature: Jolly
Moveset:
U-Turn
Brave Bird
Flare Blitz
Acrobatics

There isn't really much to say about Talonflame.Talonflame is a good sweeper because of SD. One SD and you can get tons of damage off on an opposing Pokemon with the Sharp Beak boosted Brave Bird or even the Flare Blitz if you want to. Roost is just there for a recovery move to regain the health lost from recoil.
149.gif

Pokemon: Dragonite
Item: Choice Band
EVS: 248 HP / 252 ATK / 8 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
ExtremeSpeed
Outrage
Fire Punch
Earthquake

Dragonite is an amazing revenge killer and/or a late game sweeper. With Outrage, Choice Banded, STAB boosted Outrage would do tons to a Pokemon. Without the choice band, it would be 180 damage w/ Stab. And with Dragonite's amazing attack; 134; it does a lot of damage. With Extreme Speed, it has amazing priority to take on other late game sweepers like Talonflame as it can take at least 1 Choice Banded BB with Multiscale. Fire Punch is there to take on Pokemon like Scizor, Ferrothorn, etc. Earthquake is just there for coverage.

When I was testing this team, the peak of the team I've gotten to so far is 1600 and the main threat to it is Aegislash because I have no checks for it if it predicts my Tyranitar coming in and Sacred Swording or something. I haven't found anymore but there probably is one though. :/ The good news is that people sometimes quit after I cripple most and if not, all of their pokemon with Wisp. Or, I just sweep with Mawile. :D I wanna keep the Mew and Mawile combo though. (Mewile? :D) Cause they are a good combination and I have been doing amazing with 'em so far. c:
Thanks for your time on reading this ridiculously long post.

Hi Namdachu! This is a really solid team with a cool core. No team is perfect, however, and I'll try my best to improve it :)

The first thing I would like to change is Earthquake on TTar. While having great netrual coverage is nice, I think Fire Blast is a better move on your Tyranitar. It deals massive damage to Ferrothorn and Scizor, 2 common switchins to TTar. You can even run 124 SpA EVs to always OHKO Max HP Mega Scizor! This will also help Mega Mawile and Dragonite, as with those Steel-types gone, they can do massive damage with Play Rough.

Another quick move change I would like to make is on Keldeo. HP Bug honestly isn't that great as most Psychic types can usually take the hit and KO Keldeo while common Grass types aren't hit super effectively by it (Mega Venesaur and Ferrothorn) so I would replace it for HP Electric which hits Azumarill and Gyarados or HP Flying which hits Mega Venesaur.

I would also put Knock Off over Seismic Toss on Mew. Seismic Toss is nice but Knock Off has lots of utility, removing items and allowing Mew to sponge attacks it couldn't before. An example of this is Mew knocking off Landorus' Life Orb, avoiding the 2HKO and being able to spam Softboiled until it can use Will-O-Wisp to eventually stall out the Landorus.

The last, and possibly biggest change I would like to make is to make Talonflame a Choice Band set. The team already has a deadly Swords Dance sweeper, and I think that Talonflame really helps Mawile with its ability to revenge kill with much stronger hits as well as forming a really deadly wallbreaking combo with Dragonite. I think that the Choice Band set could be more useful than the Swords Dance set on your team.

Hope I helped!

Thanks for the analysis U-Turn Out ! The HP Bug was originally HP Electric on my Keldeo but for some reason, Showdown turne it into HP Bug ;-;, but alright, I'll try to change it. On the T-Tar, I'll be sure to change EQ into Fire Blast. c: On the Mew, I'll switch Seismic Toss for Knock Off as I have had problems with ghost types. And I'll try to use the choice band talon set. Thanks for helping. c:

Hi, great team!
One suggestion I would like to make is run 24 speed EV's on Mega Mawile, as this will help you outspeed Aegislash, meaning your Sucker Punch will actually hit before its Shadow Sneak hits. I would also recommend running 248HP on Dragonite to take less damage from Stealth Rocks, and moving the 4 HP ev's from Talonflame to Spdef. It may not look like much, but it will guarantee Talonflame 2 switchins to Stealth Rocks and would give Dragonite 4 switchins.

Hope this helped :)

Alright ThePack , I'll put an extra 4EVs onto special defense for both Dragonite and Talonflame, an add the extra speed EVs needed to outspeed Aegislash, thanks for your help c:

Could you update the original post with the abilities that each Pokemon has? I know some of them are probably obvious, but it would be helpful to get a better overall look at the team and how to improve it.

You might wanna consider replacing Ice Beam for Ice Fang on Tyranitar, as it would allow you to run an Adamant Nature and invest those 4 SpA EVs elsewhere. Couple damage calcs for you:

4 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Landorus: 300-356 (93.7 - 111.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Fang vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Landorus: 348-412 (108.7 - 128.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

4 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gliscor: 316-376 (89.2 - 106.2%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gliscor: 200-236 (56.4 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal

4 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 300-356 (93.7 - 111.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
-1 252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Fang vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 232-276 (72.5 - 86.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Breloom: 190-224 (72.5 - 85.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Fang vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Breloom: 192-228 (73.2 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And I'm sure there are several others. As you can see, Ice Beam fairs better overall against common sets for the threats you mentioned, but in no case does it guarantee a OHKO. Ice Fang gives the guaranteed 2HKO (except in the case of Gliscor, which will be a bit trickier to bring down behind Protect, but still doable). However, this then allows you to run an Adamant Nature instead of a Naughty one, which will give you an additional 24 points of SpD, and allow you to throw those last 4 EVs into Speed, allowing you to outrun... well, other Tyranitars who are completely uninvested in speed.

Just something to think about, I guess.
