[SET COMMENTS]
Starmie's fantastic speed tier allow it to serve as a great revenge killer to dangerous threats like Keldeo, Terrakion, Lycanroc-D lacking Sucker Punch, and Cobalion. Its solid typing and access to Recover also allows it to defensively check Pokemon like Keldeo, Galarian Weezing, and Cobalion to a certain degree, although it can be easily overwhelmed due to its average bulk. Furthermore, its fantastic coverage, its ability Analytic, and its decent special attack stat allow it to act as a dangerous wallbreaker itself, making use of the many switches it forces to massively dent even the sturdiest checks to it like Chansey, Umbreon, and Celebi. Surf is generally preferred for a perfectly accurate Water-type STAB move to threaten Pokemon like Krookodile, but Hydro Pump can be used for its better damage output, noteably having noteably guaranteeing a kill KO on Incineroar. Thunderbolt allows Starmie to break through Slowking and Mantine, which would otherwise wall it. While Recover is preferred in the last moveslot to allow Starmie to offset entry hazard chip and Life Orb chip damage and allow Starmie to switch into some Pokemon like defensive Galarian Weezing, Rapid Spin is an option if Starmie's team has no other entry hazard removal, while also having the added benefit of letting Starmie avoid revenge killers like Choice Scarf Mienshao and Krookodile thanks to the Speed boost upon use. Ice Beam is also a solid option that prevents Noivern and Celebi attempting to switch into Starmie; it can also be ran over Psyshock on teams that can sufficiently pressure Chansey. Life Orb is the preferred item to ensure that Starmie can wallbreak as effectively as possible, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used to improve Starmie's longevity in the face of entry hazards, especially if it is trying to fulfil the role of an entry hazard remover, while giving it a great matchup versus Sticky Web teams.
Starmie appreciates pivot support, as although it has the bulk to switch into some targets like Cobalion and defensive Galarian Weezing, it would rather not waste turns having to use Recover instead of attacking. Mienshao and Zarude can bring Starmie in on Galarian Weezing, Cobalion, and Palossand. Starmie also appreciates Defog support from its teammates, allowing it to more freely drop Rapid Spin in favour of Recover or Ice Beam. Galarian Weezing is a great option that can help to check revenge killers to Starmie like Choice Scarf Mienshao and Krookodile, Mimikyu, and Sucker Punch Lycanroc-D, and provide Toxic Spikes support. Grass-types like Virizion, Roserade, and Celebi can pressure Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Slowking for Starmie. If running Megahorn, Virizion can also pressure Celebi, while Starmie can deal with its main checks in Galarian Weezing and Skarmory. Roserade can provide Spikes support to help wear down Starmie's switch-ins, and offensive utility through Sleep Powder or Stun Spore to cripple some of Starmie's checks like Noivern. Other entry hazard setters like Krookodile and Cobalion are also beneficial and can check Doublade, Bisharp, and Mimikyu for Starmie, although Krookodile must watch out for giving Bisharp a Defiant boost on switch-in.
