Staryu @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
Level: 5
EVs: 156 Def / 116 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic / Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Staryu has been on the rise as a fast Water-type with its great 19 Speed and strong combination of STAB Hydro Pump and coverage moves boosted by Analytic, letting it hit a myriad of common threats such as Mienfoo, Vullaby and Foongus hard. It is recommended to predict a switch and target the incoming Pokemon with an Analytic-boosted move that opens holes for Staryu's teammates to attempt a clean up in the long run. Predicting a switch is also useful to remove hazards with Rapid Spin. Steel-types like Ferroseed and Pawniard can beat Staryu thanks to their typing and priority, respectively, so good teammates include Fighting-types, such as Timburr, which have a great advantage against them, as well as Diglett and Magnet Pull Magnemite to trap these threats. Even with Ice Beam, Staryu still struggles to beat Grass-types like Foongus and Snivy reliably, so Pokemon that can manage them such as Vullaby and Foongus itself help it. Vullaby synergizes especially well, since it appreciates the hazard removal Staryu offers. Lastly, Staryu's damage output without Analytic is low, which means it needs Stealth Rock support from the likes of Pawniard and Onix.

and Pawniard hard.
This set doesn't really hit Pawniard that hard. Like yeah Hydro Pump does a lot of damage, but there's better examples out there.

A ton of this talks about potential partners for Staryu but doesn't really say much about Staryu itself. Can we talk more about the actual mon who's getting the write-up a bit more?

Staryu has been on the rise as a fast Water-type with its great 19 Speed and strong combination of STAB Hydro Pump and coverage moves boosted by Analytic, letting it hit a myriad of common threats such as Mienfoo, Vullaby and Foongus hard. It is recommendable recommended to predict a switch-in from the opponent to fire off a and target the incoming Pokemon with an Analytic-boosted move that works against the Pokemon the opponent switches to and cause a huge damage, thus opening opens holes for Staryu Staryu's teammates to attempt a clean up on in the long run. If attacking is not the best option, predicting switch-ins Predicting a switch is also useful to use Rapid Spin whenever possible to remove hazards with Rapid Spin and have the upper hand in battle. Steel-types such as like Ferroseed and Pawniard can beat Staryu thanks to their typing and priority, respectively, so good teammates include Fighting-types, (AC) such as Timburr, (AC) which have a great advantage against them, while Pokémon such as as well as Diglett and Magnet Pull Magnemite can to trap these threats. Even with Ice Beam, Staryu still struggles to beat Grass-types like Foongus and Snivy on check reliably, so Pokémon Pokemon that can manage them such as Vullaby and Foongus itself help it. Vullaby is specially useful synergizes especially well, since it appreciates the hazard removal Staryu offers. Lastly, Staryu's output damage output without Analytic is low, which means it needs Stealth Rock support from the likes of Pawniard and Onix.

NOTE: I had to do my best to shorten this a bit since we like these to remain around 1000 characters, so if you think there's anything really important that I removed then let me know and I'll take another look.
