SS OU Status/Hazard Stall Team

Hello all, this is my first RMT post (and also I'm very new to the game, so if anything on the team seems really dumb, that's why) and my team is heavily inspired by another team by volcanionisgood, which can be found here. I liked the team a lot, but I wanted to be even stallier, and there were a couple Pokemon in there that I didn't feel were pulling their weight (Snorlax and Sableye.) Basically, the idea behind my version of the team is to get all the opponents Pokemon weakened with toxic and SR, and then finish them off with Clefable and other miscellaneous damaging moves. However, I want to switch out the Clefable for a different Pokemon because a Clefairy is already on the team, and I wanted better type coverage. I also want to switch out the Gastrodon, but I have no clue what to switch it out with.

Here's the team:

toxapex.gif

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Baneful Bunker
- Recover

So Toxapex is my big tanky guy that hits the other mons with toxic and then recovers until they give up. I love how tanky he is and I love baneful bunker, and hes really good at staying in and poking at poisoned mons with scald until they give up and die. The only problem is when the other mons have stat boosting moves like SD and Bulk Up, then I can't kill them fast enough with pex and they end up eventually one-shotting me and switching out. On the team this was inspired by, the OP said that baneful bunker was necessary in this meta for dracovish, but honestly fisheous rend and psychic fangs and such don't really deal that much damage, and since I have recover, once the vish has been poisoned with toxic, I can just stay in with recover. I'm considering switching baneful bunker out with haze because it fixes the aforementioned problem of boosting pokemon killing me before I can outlive them. Plus, baneful bunker hasn't really ever helped me all too much other than scouting a move, but recover helps me do that too so I don't think I need baneful anymore.

corviknight.gif

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Head
- Defog
- Roost

Corv is the mon for defogging and hitting fairy types and other steel types with iron head and body press. Also, other teams (at least in my elo) always try to earthquake my pex, so when I see it coming I just switch to corv. I'm thinking of switching out body press for scald because I never really seem to get any value out of body press, it always does very little damage against other steel types, and again, the point of this team IS to stall out the enemy with status, so possible scald burn would be really useful for the stat reduction and the status effect.

ferrothorn.gif

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball

Ferrothorn is my SR setter and knock off guy. The leech seed helps threaten out opponents because ferro is virtually impossible to kill once seed is out. Usually, my ferro is really good at baiting out fire types so I can get in my pex for free and start poisoning everyone. Also gyro ball is there for extra coverage against clef because she's (he's? it's?) so prevalent in the current meta. Also I just really like ferrothorn, and I figured he fit into the team pretty well.

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 196 HP / 252 SpA / 60 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Thunder
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled

Like on the other team that this was heavily inspired by, the clefable is here for a counter to dragapult and also as a sweeper after every other mon has been weakened by all their status effects and SR damage. Thunder is there because of rain teams (at least that's why I've kept it there) and opposing pex, but I'm considering switching to flamethrower for ferro. Soft boiled is for longetivity, and moon blast for a nice stab attack. Calm mind is there to power up moon blast and begin a sweep. However, I'm considering switching clefable out for another mon because I don't want two fairy types on my team because it doesnt really cover enough types. I was thinking of maybe switching to an aegislash but I really have no idea how to figure out what to replace clef with.

clefairy.gif

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Aromatherapy
- Soft-Boiled

Clefairy is the team's cleric, for curing status conditions and wish passing to other mons. I'm considering switching out moon blast with flamethrower for more type coverage against ferro and other steel/grass types (if I don't give the clefable flamethrower). I'm also considering giving this clefairy protect (to scout moves and get a guaranteed wish heal) or maybe healing wish. However, I'm not sure how viable it would be to leave clefairy without any way of doing damage.

gastrodon.gif

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Amnesia
- Recover
- Earth Power

Gastrodon is my main way of dealing with mons like Toxtricity and rain teams cause he eats up water type moves. I wanted a second mon with toxic to make it easier to poison the other mons. Amnesia is there for more longevity, same for recover. I wanted earth power on the team to deal with toxtricity and other electric mons, as well as steel types like aegislash. I'm considering switching out this mon because I already have a water type on my team, but I'm not sure what mon to replace it with. I'm considering centiskorch for more type coverage, or maybe even just going back to snorlax which is on the original team. I'm also considering switching this mon out for corsola galar, because I really like leeching moves like strength sap, and corsola can use SR, so I can give my ferro power whip or spikes for more hazards. I also really want will-o-wisp on one of my mons, so I think corsola-galar would be pretty good. However, I'm worried if I don't have a mon that can resist electricity, toxtricity is going to sweep my entire team.

The two biggest things I based this team off of are this team, by volcanionisgood, and this team, by mcon1985. Since I'm fairly new to the game, building a team from scratch was too daunting, so I took the two teams as bases and tweaked them and combined them into something else that I figured would be more fun for my personal playstyle. I also changed around some of the moves and EV's. So far the team has performed well, and I am enjoying it, and I haven't really encountered any mons that absolutely wrecked my team. The only mon that comes to mind is aegislash and toxtricity, because aegislash just multiplies his stats a bunch and then one shots everything, and toxtricity always seems to just kinda wipe my team off the face of the earth. I think the main problem is really that I am playing poorly, so i am not sure if these mons are true counters or if I just suck.

Thanks for checking out my team, offer me a bunch of critisicm so I can fix my team and learn more about competitive pokemon!

Honestly, I don’t get the fact on why you added Clefairy as cleric if Clefable serves as an even better cleric. Wish + Teleport Clefable is so big in the current metagame, so use that. Now, more than half of your team is weak to Zeraora, and it seems only Gastrodon is your Zeraora check. Here are the changes for your team. Note that this will be by Pokémon, and not something like minor and major changes.

Toxapex: I don’t get the fact of running Baneful Bunker alongside Toxic. It’s easier to just poison the opponent instead with Toxic aside from using Baneful Bunker. Replace Baneful Bunker with Haze so that you can stop setup sweepers such as Nasty Plot Hydreigon and Rotom-H.

Corviknight: I get why you used Body Press. It allows you to hit Steel-types that it’s STAB moves cannot. However, if you can, please replace Body Press with U-turn so that you can pivot out.

Ferrothorn: Replace one of your Ferrothorn’s moves with either Body Press or Power Whip. Power Whip allows you to take on Seismitoad, on which your current team cannot. You could have Ferro instead of Corv as a Body Press user since it is more reliable.

Clefable: In my honest opinion, wallbreaker Clefable is not that common anymore. Cleric and CM sets have become even more common. I recommend the Cleric set because it also serves as a check against big wall breakers such as Kyurem. Visit the Smogon Dex for the sets.

Clefairy - Again, why Clefairy? Since you currently lack Zeraora checks and that your current team functions well under sand, I recommend Hippowdon to set up weather and check Zeraora.

Gastrodon - Replace this with Toad. First of all, Seismitoad is more viable in this metagame. Seismitoad is also more bulky than Gastrodon. It can inflict poison better, it can absorb Water-type attacks, etc.
