Stay Frosty

Introduction

Oke, I've made a Hailteam ages ago when Abomasnow was still allowed.
Then Ive also used several Sunnyday/Rainteams to get a CRE of 1500.
I got bored of my current UU team, the only one I have which got me to 1550 cre. I decided to make another attempt to a HailTeam specifically Hailstall.
Its been doing wonders at times and just failing miserably at others so Hence me writing an RMT to get some hints what could be more effectivly.
Im mainly looking for EV tweaking or maybe moveset tweaking, replacement of pokemon is considered only if they do the same job or a similar job but more effectivly.
Lets begin into the RMT.

The Build
The team is nothing without Snover ofcourse providing eternal Hail , since Abomasnow isnt allowed in the UU tier anymore.

459.png

Ofcourse Snover is very weak to Fire, so is most of the types that resist hail so I need a fire counterhence me bringing in Arcanine
59.png

He's got an ability named FlashFire to soak up some lethal FireDamage that could possibly whipe out my entire team.
He also not just soaks up for snover but other pokemon in my team as well so he needs to stay alive

Whats a StallTeam without Hazards?
My 2 hazard people are Claydol and Froslass
344.png
&
478.png

Claydoll for SR and Froslass for the spikes.
Bringing these pokemon in they are also Utility pokemon.
My Claydoll brings in the Rapid spin aspect protecting my pokemon from those nasty spikes and even nastier stealthrocks doing 25% damage to all my pokemon except claydoll himself. Frosslass is my Spinblocker. She saved me from rapidspin so I can stall the **** out of the rest abusing hail.

A hailteam that stalls is nothing without Wallrein. Every hailteam needs one and has one so without further ado here is Wallrein
365.png

This is a beast being capable of stall and many more stuff.
I use this mainly as a stall/phazer and ill show you why later.

Last spot on the team I was dubious.
I was thinking of using a scarfed or specs Glaceon but I dont know, I already had so many attackers from the special side.
But then I thought of something. I know something that can annoy people and also threat some of the more dangerous counters Like Moltres.
Its his Sister Articuno!
So without further ado the last team member Articuno

In Depth
Snover@Leftovers~Snowman
459.jpg

Ability: Snow Warning
Nature:Calm
EV's: 252 hp, 80 sp.atk, 176 sp.def
-Protect
-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Blizzard

Fire to: Arcanine/Wallrein
Air to: Articuno/Claydol
Rock to: Claydoll
Steel to: Arcanine/wallrein
Bug to: Articuno
Steel to: Arcanine/Wallrein
Fighting to: Froslass

This thing gets threathened alot as you can see

This is my lead, he does the job abomasnow should be doing.
Seeing Snover is quite fragile I gave him subtitute.
This makes him able to take hits at times or stall some more using leech seed and protect to drain the life out of your enemies in tandem with the hail. Blizzard is used because I needed atleast one attack. In the snow its accuracy becomes a 100% being an attack thats a strong stab and still does some damage from this poor NFE.
The Sp.Def Ev's are there for 1 pokemon only namely Milotic.
Milotic can destroy my team if its the common surf/hpgrass/recover set and Snover handles it pretty well resisting surf/hp grass and icebeam.
It fairs pretty well vs most leads.
If I get matched up to Ambipom I protect on the fake out and decide what to do next I switch most of the times to Claydol or Froslass.
Ambipom with payback and doublehit can break this team fast enough to get a good swoop if it has Lifeorb, it can 2hitk0 anything I have or even 0hk0.
If its a moltress lead I protect on the first attack, if it airslashes I move to articuno who cleans moltress nicely, if its a Fireblast/Flamethrower I pass to Arcanine and soak up for some FlashFire
To any other set up leads like Uxie I just sub then leech seed and stall it out, It mostly just sets up SR which will be taken care of by Claydol later.
If I get tricked a scarf I have to switch out seeing my only attack move is Blizzard.
Onto the iceprincess in a Kimono

Frosslass@Leftovers~Sakura
478.jpg

Ability: Snow Cloak
Nature:Timid
Ev's: 4 hp, 252 speed, 252 sp.atk
-Substitute/Protect/Twave
-Painsplit
-ShadowBall/Ice Beam/?
-Spikes

Fire to:Arcanine/Claydol
Ghost to: Articuno/wallrein
Dark to: Arcanine/Articuno/Wallrein
Rock to:Claydoll

This is my Iceprincess.
She is one of my set-ups and she also is my utility spinblocker
The 252 speed to outspeed alot of UU pokemon and Speedtie with other Froslass or perhaps outspeed them.
I wanted to abuse snowcloak as much as I can and want to set up the max amount of spikes possible therefore I put in Painsplit. It gives froslass a Recovery skill and has worked wonders at times.
Im a little dubious on Subtitute because its only a good wall if the opponent either A) Switches
B)Misses
Protect also helps stall the hail and gives me another turn of leftovers.
Twave can cripple and also give me other turns to set up so If any1 can help me make up my mind with this it would be awesome
Shadowball is currently the only attack it has and I Chose this attack because I thought I would have enough Ice moves on the team and perhaps needed a different move going off the ice.
Shadowball works well on other ghoststypes and the occasional Alakazam, The downside is even tho this thing can stall on the normal types, the ambipom carrying payback seriously kill this thing its not even funny.
Im thinking of replacing it for icebeam so I can still hit ambipom but then I would lose 0hitk0-ing alot of opposing ghosttypes that could spinblock or counter me in another way.
Maybe theres a Third alternative Attack I havent considered so that if you have any suggestions lets hear them.
My fire friendly k9 is next.

Arcanine@Leftovers~RaWr
059.jpg

Ability: FlashFire
Nature: Timid
Ev's: 252 Hp, 216 def, 40 sp.atk
-Extreme Speed
-Heat Wave/Fireblast/Flamethrower
-Morning Sun/?
-Toxic (Roar If I would put toxic on Wallrein)

Water to :Wallrein/Snover
Rock to: Claydoll
Ground to: Snover/Articuno/Claydoll

Arcanine my feisty lil K9
I wanted to use the Boost of Flashfire to boost my firemoves, Im currently using Heatwave because it has a good BurnRight but im considering Flamethrower or Fireblast for a bit more UHMPH to its attack.
Extremespeed is there to Revenge kill, also a good Priority move to have
I might use Roar instead of toxic If I would put toxic on my Wallrein,
I seriously need a Phazer on this team.
He also uses 0 ice moves making this team a little more versatile.
The ev's make him also capable of taking good physical hits and making it Durable. I mainly use toxic now in conjunction with Hail to slowly eat my opponents Hp away. I had 1 more slot left and Kinda didnt know wut to do with it. A Recovery move is appreciated because Arcanine still gets hit by Hail but hail also makes Morning Sun only recover 25% So maybe Resttalk set arcanine?..Give me your thoughts on that.
Now my fat Seal friend that makes a good partner for Arcanine

Wallrein@Leftovers~Chubs
365.jpg

Ability: Ice Body
Nature:Bold
Ev's: 220 hp, 240def, 48 sp.atk
-Surf
-Protect
-Substitute
-Roar/( Toxic if Arcanine gets Roar)

Electricity: Claydoll
Grass:Arcanine/Articuno/Snover
Fighting:Froslass
Rock: Claydoll

This thing is an Absolute Beast.
It can substitute and protect so much that it heals its Substitutes recoil hp with easy. This thing walls alot of pokemon in the UU section.
This is also my maincounter to stat uppers. It really is needed.
Pokemon that can set up on a stallteam mainly do alot of havok.
Roar makes sure they lose their hp and most of the times lets the other pokemon take 3 xspike damage+SR and then hail taking off atleast 37% hp upon switching it if its a ground unit. Hail+recover+icebody gives a solid 12% hp back per turn which is always a Liked bonus.
Surf is my stabmove because bold lowers the attack status and would leave waterfall/ Brine useless. Its also not an icemove giving some diversity.
Now comes my Many eyed friend who saves my butt alot.

Claydol@Leftovers~ManyEyes
344.jpg

Ability: Levitate
Nature:Adamant
Ev's: 252 hp, 116 atk , 116 sp.def
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid spin
-StoneEdge
-Earthquake

Ghost to:Arcanine/Articuno/Snover
WateR to:Wallrein/Snover
Bug to:Articuno/Arcanine
Ice to: Anyone
Grass to:Arcanine
Dark to: Wallrein/Arcanine/Articuno

Normally I would have chosen Shadowball/Earthpower but I felt this team was already super special based so I decided to go with a physical version.
Stealthrock is an important hazard keeping alot of bird/firetypes in check so they dont switch in to often.
Rapid spin is to get rid off opposing hazards and makes my team easy to switch around with.
Earthquake is my STAB damaging firetypes and rocktypes that hurt my icetyped/firetyped.
StoneEdge is here to still hit a certain ghost named Froslass and it helps pretty well vs Flying type like moltress/Swellow/Honchkrow who oppose threats.

Last But not Least The Legendary IceBird
Articuno@Leftovers~Frosty
144.jpg

Ability:Pressure
Nature:Timid
Ev's: 252 hp, 216 speed, 40 sp.atk
-Toxic
-Roost
-Substitute
-IceBeam

Electric to:Claydoll
Rock to : Claydoll
Fire to: Arcanine/Wallrein

This Thing is an Absolute stallbeast.
If there arent Stealthrocks this thing isnt scared off fast. As long as Im fastest I can sub and roost in perfectly most of the time.
Only some pokemon can be threathening.
Lightning attacks are passed to claydoll as fire is passed to Arcanine.
Toxic is to slowly weaken them along with Hail. Ice beam is there to be my stab and only attack. I was hoping he could learn Airslash to still have a stab and also something diverse but shamely it could only learn sucky/physical air moves.

This is my team rating
Hope you can give pointers and looking for forward to some tweaking and testing.

With the coming of the move tutors in HG/SS, Walrein gets a new toy to play with, its Super Fang. The ability to cut any pokes health in half(Barring Ghost Types) can cut Walrein's stalling time in half, saving those precious PP. Then you could have toxic or roar in the last move slot. Then vice versa for Arcanine. I would recommend Heysup's Bulky Froslass. A link to the Froslass in a UU team is here http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63408

Froslass (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spd
Timid Nature (+ Spd, - Atk)
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Ice Beam/ Shadow Ball
- Pain Split

This was a bulky Froslass, and I think it was posted by Heysup. It's been amazing in the lead slot, and almost always gets onelayer of spikes down. Froslass is my spiker, as you can see. I did use a suicide lead Froslass here as my lead and spin blocker. Admittedly, it didn't do a very good job, since it was, in fact, my lead and wasn't particularly sturdy. So I switched to a bulky variant I saw and it's been working better. The EVs are to survive two Ambipom Pursuits, although the only Ampibom I've run into with Pursuit critted me the second time, and I died.:P Considering 248 HP /124 Def / 136 Spd with Destiny Bond over Pain Split; although that does mean I lose a lot of survivability, it gives me a sort of "answer" against NP Houndoom, who will often OHKO my entire team assuming it comes in on Froslass. With the aforementioned spread, I can outspeed it and Destiny Bond it for the KO.

Froslass is the obvious lead Pokemon here. It lays down Spikes quickly and easily. Froslass also performs a secondary role as a spin blocker, though it cannot seriously threaten Hitmontop, which is probably more common than Donphan these days thanks to

The moveset is simple. Spikes are well, Spikes! They are a central part of this rather unsuccessful team's strategy. Taunt is for screwing over slower leads without priority and and Ice Beam is for STAB. Pain Split is for "healing", and puts Donphan in KO range for an Ice Beam. Anyways, this isn't quite bog-standard, but admittedly it's pretty fun to use. Considering going standard suicide lead Taunt/Spikes/Shadow Ball/Ice Shard to beat enemy Froslass.

This comes from Thursday's UU team. There are 2 EV spreads you can go with. 248 Hp, 228 Defense, 32 Speed, or 248 Hp, 124 Defense, 136 Speed.
The latter being faster and more suited to Destiny Bond, while the former is much bulkier and can recover health more reliably. The only thing I would do for your Froslass is change Ice Beam to Shadow Ball, because Articuno and Snover already have Ice moves, while Shadow Ball allows you to hit spin blockers and hit Mismagius, Uxie, etc for SE.

So would Superfang go over surf?..
And ill check the EV spread for my Froslass better.
I already am using Shadowball on my Froslass but I have been having ambipom trouble XD
Hence me asking to possibly use Icebeam but you have helped me already thanks alot;)
Ill go test it out:D

Arcanine: Try the RestTalk set with Fire Blast/HP Rock. HP Rock is for opposing Fire types which you switch in on.

Froslass: You should try this set which abuses Froslass' Snow Cloak in Hail. Run Sub/Spikes/Confuse Ray/Blizzard, with the item as Brightpowder, when confused your opponent will only hit you less than 40% of the time, allowing you to set up Spikes behind your Sub.

Articuno: Blizzard > Ice Beam for more power.

The best Stallrein set is Sub/Protect/Super Fang/Brine or Blizzard, depending on who you want to hit. That's pretty much it. Good luck!

Hi, I'm going to do a full rate right now but I want to suggest something that I think would help. Like the other poster said, "With the coming of the move tutors in HG/SS, Walrein gets a new toy to play with, its Super Fang." So, Yeah.. Gotta agree with 'em. Change Roar > Super Fang and Surf > Brine. After you put your opponents HP into half(50%) heavily damage it with Brine. Brine's BP doubles if your opponents HP is 50% or less. Meaning 65*2 = 130!

Surf is my stabmove because bold lowers the attack status and would leave waterfall/ Brine useless.
lol...Brine is a Special move. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

First off always use Blizzard over Ice Beam that way you can utilize the hail better.

Now for Articuno you said you wanted a strong flying STAB...have you considered Fly? It won't be too powerful coming off Articuno's weaker stat but it could help give your team a mixed attacker. Fly is also usuful because you get an extra turn of toxic damage from spikes while Articuno is up in the air. Just don't abuse Fly or your opponent may try to stat up or sub stall you.

On Walrein Super Fang of course over Surf. Then you can switch ev's in HP or SpD.
Or if you want more offensive you can put Brine over something, because Super Fang - Brine combo is very nice ;)

And imo on Arcanine chance 40 SpA to 40 Atk and to 2. slot Flare Blitz. You have Morning Sun on healing.

Well my Team currently has underwent some fixes
Articuno/Claydoll/Arcanine are out
Clefable/Dugtrio/Cloyster are in.
I can lay dual spike layer now.
This way I had a chance to remove all'toxic' of the team.
Clefable is here because its my wishpasher/other weather team blocker.
I always had trouble versus Clefable now Clefable works for me.
Encore on Clefable works wonders with Dugtrio's Arena trap.
