Garganacl remains a fantastic defensive tool within Ubers UU, being able to comfortably Stealth Rock on both the tier’s best Defog users in Giratina and Corviknight. Salt Cure is a move that Garganacl can repeatedly click with near-zero downside, as Covert Cloak is a nonexistent item within Ubers UU. Steel-types like Magearna, Solgaleo, Corviknight, Gholdengo, Zamazenta-C as well as Water-types like Palkia-O, Palafin and Iron Bundle. Tera Water is notable in allowing Garganacl to avoid 2HKOs from many special moves including Hydro Pump from Palkia-O and Iron Bundle, Earth Power from Landorus, Make it Rain from Gholdengo and Steel Beam from Magearna and Dialga. Tera Fairy is an option that allows Garganacl to cover your Fighting weakness from moves such as Mewtwo Focus Blast and Dragon immunity for the previously mentioned Palkia-O Spacial Rend, Kyurem-White Draco Meteor as well as Dragon Tail phasing from Giratina. Garganacl best pairs with stall and fat balance teams using Giratina and Slowking-G for excellent hazard control and passive damage support. Even with Special Defense investment and Ghost resist, Garganacl still struggles into Spectrier due to the combination of Draining Kiss and Nasty Plot. Arceus-Grass can hit Garganacl super effectively both with or without Tera when running Tera Water, though Giratina helps against this problem. Substitute Palkia-O can counter Garganacl if it can enter into play without taking a Salt Cure, but Blissey can safely switch in to deal with this. Taunt Landorus-T can force Garganacl to switch without making any progress.
