Crunch is the main STAB move, dealing reliable neutral damage to most targets such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Serperior. Superpower threatens Steel- and Fighting-types that come in expecting Stone Edge such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, Excadrill, and Keldeo. Stone Edge can be used instead for better neutral coverage against Fairy-types such as Clefable and to hit common metagame threats like Volcarona and Thundurus. Pursuit allows Mega Tyranitar to trap bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Cofagrigus, Cresselia, and Mega Latias. Alternatively, Taunt can be used to ensure Stealth Rock is not removed by Skarmory's Defog and to provide the team with stallbreaking ability.

36 Speed EVs allow Mega Tyranitar to outspeed non-invested Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Seismitoad. 104 Attack EVs with an Adamant nature provide enough power to guarantee 2HKOs on Slowbro with Crunch and Ferrothorn with Superpower, as well as enough all-around power to make Mega Tyranitar a threat to many metagame threats like Thundurus, Rotom-W, and Zapdos. The investment in HP and Special Defense allows it to survive Focus Blast from Mega Alakazam, Thundurus, and Mega Charizard Y from full HP and in sand. It also gives Mega Tyranitar useful all-round bulk, allowing it to absorb special attacks from Pokemon like Zapdos, Heatran, and Volcarona.

Usage Tips
