Despite facing competition for a mega slot from the best Pokemon in RU, Mega Blastoise, Mega Steelix cements itself as the second-best Mega Pokemon available in the tier. Its ability to utilize its phenomenal bulk, great attack, and high powered STAB moves gives it a unique niche as the least passive Steel-type rocker that is viable in the metagame. Curse allows Steelix to act as a win condition, as it is able to set up in the face of most neutral physical attackers despite having no recovery to speak of, and is aided by its immunity to being poisoning. While it struggles with bulky Water-types like Mega Blastoise and Milotic, Mega Steelix effectively threatens most things that would want to switch into it with attacks and punishes the frequent switches it causes by setting Stealth Rock. Mega Steelix appreciates teammates like Virizion and Mandibuzz that help deal with its lower speed and vulnerability to special attackers.
