- Stealth Rocks is incredibly useful as it deals lots of damage to top threats like Fletchider.
- Iron Head is STAB, and hits Pokemon like Diancie for SE damage.
- Earthquake is STAB and hits Magneton, Registeel, Drapion and Camerupt.
- Toxic can cripple support mons and deal chip damage.
- Crunch has good neutral coverage alongside STABs and hits Psychic types Steelix may need to switch in to and Bronzong.
- Thunder Fang deals with bulky water and flying types such as Alomomola, Pelipper and Mantine.
- Stone Edge and Rock Slide are stronger options for the latter two, but have accuracy issues and still can't hit Bronzong.
Set Details

- The HP EVs are a leftovers number to improve recovery.
- Adamant nature plus max attack EVs make Steelix hit as hard as possible.
- 4 Spe allows Steelix to outspeed Slowking.
- The rest of the EVs are dumped in SpD.
- Leftovers offer passive recovery and may restore sturdy.
- With Sturdy, Steelix can consistently set rocks or switch into attacks more confidently.
Usage Tips

- Often lead with this.
- Set up rocks ASAP.
- Attack/Use coverage/Toxic as needed then after.
- If Steelix survives late-game it can be used to switch into resisted Flying, Psychic, Normal, Fairy and Rock moves, among others
Team Options

- Steelix fits best on bulky offense-orientated or balance.
- Blastoise, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop can Rapid Spin away hazards to keep Sturdy intact while leaving Steelix's up.
- Ghost Types like Jellicient can spin block while Braviary can punish De-fogging with Defiant.
- Water Types can stop the Fire and Water Types which give Steelix trouble. In particular, Mantine and Pelipper can also deal with most of the fighting types that threaten it.

- A offensive set with Life Orb, Automize and Sheer Force can be used.
- Fire Fang could be used for Steel Types and Aqua Tail is another coverage option.
