[SET]
Calm Mind (Arceus-Ghost) @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 84 SpA / 176 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Tera Type: Poison / Fairy
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Will-o-Wisp / Aura Sphere / Taunt
- Calm Mind
- Recover
Calm Mind Arceus-Ghost is a threatening setup sweeper and utility option that leverages its great typing, bulk, and decent Speed to break through teams. With the lack of Ghost-type answers, Judgment is able to hit a vast majority of tier, providing a strong, consistent STAB option that scales quickly with Calm Mind boosts. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers like Meowscarada, Zacian-C, and Ogerpon-W, although Aura Sphere can be used to deal with most Ghost-resistant Pokemon such as Ting-Lu, Hisuian Samurott, Garganacl, and Pokemon that run Tera Normal and Tera Dark. Alternatively, Taunt shuts down Toxic from the likes of Pecharunt and Clodsire, Thunder Wave from Clefable, and Whirlwind from Ho-Oh and Ting-Lu, preventing them from hindering Arceus-Ghost’s progress. 176 Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow it to outspeed Ogerpon-W, Iron Moth, and other base 110s, letting it set up or spread status before they can retaliate. Tera Poison prevents it from being worn down by Toxic from Pecharunt, Eternatus, and Clodsire, while Tera Fairy allows Arceus-Ghost to flip its Dark weakness into a resistance, helping it withstand the likes of Roaring Moon, Weavile, and Meowscarada.
Arceus-Ghost is highly flexible and can fit onto a wide variety of team structures, as its well-rounded stats mean that almost any Pokemon can be paired with it. For example, Arceus-Ghost shines alongside Stealth Rock and Spikes setters like Clefable, Ting-Lu, and Hisuian Samurott, since Arceus-Ghost spinblocks the likes of Great Tusk while threatening it with Will-O-Wisp or boosted Judgment. Furthermore, since it can struggle against faster threats like Zacian-C, Speed slot Urshifu, and Darkrai, Arceus-Ghost appreciates Sticky Web from Ribombee, which alleviates its Speed issue. Arceus-Ghost also values Fighting-type partners such as Urshifu and Great Tusk that, just like Aura Sphere, can deal with the aforementioned Ghost-resistant Pokemon. Arceus-Ghost is also vulnerable to hazards, making hazard control in Pokemon such as Iron Treads, Corviknight, and Hatterene very important. These Pokemon, alongside other examples such as Roaring Moon, Primarina, Galarian Slowking, and Ting-Lu, can fully take advantage of Arceus-Ghost's decent but not exceptional stat donations. Although Arceus-Ghost's Speed is decent, it is still slower than threats such as the aforementioned Zacian-C, so the largest beneficiaries of a Speed donation are slow Pokemon such as Hydrapple and Hatterene.
