Storm of confusion (OU)

Ok, Newest team. Essentially focuses on limiting your opponents number of turns through things like paralysis, flinching, etc. while boosting your own sweeping power with rain dance. still needs some work however so whatever feedback i can get will be great. thanks :)

azelf-dp.png

Azelf @ Damp rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly nature
Rain dance
Thunder wave
Stealth rock
U turn

My lead, Azelf's task is pretty simple, stealth rock, paralyze the opponent, set up an extended rain dance, and gtfo with u turn. if azelf can come back in during mid or late game to either set up another rain dance or paralyze the enemy, great.

JirachiRender.png

Jirachi @ choice scarf
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly nature
Thunder
Rain dance
Iron Head
Trick

Jirachis seren grace makes him a lethal unit on this team. Jirachi would usually be switched in on one of the opponents key pokemon, with several attacks that they need. trick allows him to severely limit there strategy, while iron head in combo with serene grace has a 60% chance of flinching the opponent every time its used. thunder is used over thunderwave due to its high damage and its 60% chance of paralyis and 100% accuracy in the rain. jirachi can also serve as a rain replinisher. in short, jirachi wrecks havoc.

vaporeon-frlg.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SpD
Bold nature
Surf
Wish
Protect
Toxic

Standard wish support, vaporeons ability to stall out an enemy thats not paralyzed is very useful. in addition to its toxic capability and wish healing support, vaporeon also has a powerful stab surf, when coupled with the rain.. is lethal

images

Scizor @ choice band
248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant nature
Bullet punch
U Turn
Superpower
Pursuit

Revenge killer, not much more to be said. he has a powerful priority bullet punch, U turn to scout, an overpowered fighting attack, and pursuit to take care anyone who flees. your standared choiced revenge killer scizor

images

Starmie @ leftovers
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Modest nature
Thunder wave
Surf
Recover
Rain dance

Paralyzing capabilities to slow down your enemy, a powerful surf stab, ability to replinish rain, and recover so it can do it all over again. sweeper/support pokemon.

Breloom @ toxic orb
236 HP / 252 Def / 20 Spe
Impish nature
Subsitute
Leech seed
Spore
Focus punch

Ok, i know breloom looks completly random and out of place on a rain dance team. however he ends up being pretty useful, and works well with alot of the other pokemon on this team. in addition to rain dance paralysis is a huge part of this team, breloom can succesfully stall punch a paralyzed pokemon almost as well as a spored one. sub stall any pokemon poisoned by vappy, and can just destroy anything else. brelooms one of those pokemon that can be switched in, survive forever, and absolutly murder. i know it seems random, but it works.

Hey I got your message, judging by the look of this team, I'd say you're going for a rain dance team. However, bulky teams + non-infinite weather conditions hardly work as well as you'd think- since you only get 8 turns to abuse the rain, it is important to actually abuse it, instead of just being a standard bulky offense team for 8 turns. This team has no way to abuse rain, save water attacks and thunder > thunderbolt. In other words, you're idea of a rain dance team is hardly ever going to be functional, and if you're winning games with this team, it's not because rain is helping you out exponentially. Here's a guide on how to properly construct rain teams.

As you can see, teams that really want to abuse rain dance operate in a manner akin to hyper offense, using powerful swift swim sweepers. If this is what you want to aim for, then I would recommend simply making a new team, as you would need to change not only the core but at least 4 Pokemon to make this an even reasonable rain team. Thus I'm going to take the other route- de-raining this team to make it a simple offensive team. This however is still full of effort and very time consuming, so bear with me, as this will still require some major changes.

Firstly, since you already have water and grass in place, adding Heatran would be good- I happen to think that Scizor + Jirachi is pretty redundant and 3 fire weaknesses is not nice. I think Scarf Heatran over your current Jirachi would be good, giving you a revenge killer and completing the fwg core.

Azelf obviously can't run a rain dance set anymore. There are a variety of great ways to lead with Azelf- Colbur, TrickScarf, LO/Expert Belt- the options are limitless. I'd just make sure you get up SR and challenge common leads in some way.

Starmie has a sort of weird set I'm not personally fond of. Considering that this team is pretty stall weak, try running LO Spin Starmie over your current set.

These changes secure you against most common threats in some way as well as hopefully against stall. I hope this helps, good luck.

This definitely looks like a Rain Dance team. However, some of your choices regarding your sets are questionable; it seems as if you're trying to accomplish too many different things. Certain team members (Vaporeon in particular) also slow down your offensive momentum, which is vital to maintain when utilizing Rain Dance. These teams tend to focus on relentlessly attacking the opponent, eventually overwhelming the competition with powerful, hard-hitting moves and high speed. IT is highly advisable that you test out some of the sets mentioned in the guide that Smith linked, but I'd like to first recommend a couple of changes.

Jirachi is actually a very good choice on Rain teams, but it tends to be more useful when it isn't running a Choice set. I'd like to recommend trying out a more support-oriented set that functions as a mid-game Rain replenisher. It also can hit quite hard with access to a 100% accurate Thunder in Rain, and provides the team with a more offensive Wish-passer than Vaporeon.

Speaking of Vaporeon, I feel that it is really slowing down the pace of this team. Vaporeon is typically more effective as a wall on balanced teams, so it could be replaced with a sweeper that could take better advantage of Rain's effects. Since this is OU, Kingdra could work wonderfully in Vaporeon's position; it is arguably the best Rain sweeper in the tier, capable of hitting hard from both sides of the attacking spectrum.

You can experiment with the EVs and movesets, but the two following sets could potentially work for Jirachi and Kingdra, respectively:

Jirachi @ Damp Rock
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rain Dance
- U-Turn / Iron Head
- Wish
- Thunder[/box]

230_20_0.png

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 208 Atk / 136 SpA / 164 Spe
Rash nature (+SpA, -SpD)
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Draco Meteor
- Hydro Pump[/box]
Utilizing these sets would help to shift your team towards a more offensive nature. Jirachi and Kingdra are both excellent choices for a Rain Dance teams, with the former being able to provide useful mid-game Rain and Wish support, and the latter being capable of devastating unprepared opponents with a combination of high speed and powerful attacks. Rain remains a very effective playstyle, so feel free to experiment with your choices to find the best results.

Good luck with your team!
