Stormy Weather [OU RMT]

Ok, a little history on this team. You can skip this part if you want, it’s not really important. I started off a couple months ago attempting to build an UU Rain Dance team. It didn’t exactly go well, with about a 30/70 win ratio on Shoddy. I took a step back, did some research, and returned a couple weeks later with an improved team. This went on for a couple months, with couple small improvements made each time. Recently however, I’ve grown bored with the UU tier, and decided just to scrap the whole team and start anew with a OU team. So, without further adieu, here we go.

Presenting; Team Stormy Weather:

Azelf@Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Jolly
252Hp, 252Spe, 4Atk
- Rain Dance
- Stealth Rocks
- Explosion
Taunt

Azelf is pretty much one of the best leads that you are going to get in a rain dance team, it is fast, and almost certain to get rain and stealth rocks up. More over, I can make it look like Azelf is a standard lead from turn one, so I have some surprise value.

Latias @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Hp, 4 Def, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Thunder
- Recover
- Roar
- Rain Dance

My mid-game rain replenisher and here to handle the electric attacks from the likes of Jolteon that can ruin this team. EVs and Recover for bulk making it tough to take down, and Roar to scout the opponent's team.

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Spd, 252 SAtk
Nature: Modest
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Signal Beam
- Surf

What’s a Rain Dance Team without Kingdra? I opted for an all-special set over the mixed set so I could max out SpA and Speed making revenge killing Kingdra a much harder task. Signal Beam and HP Electric are to handle Celebi and Gyarados respectively.

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 32 HP/252 Atk/224 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall

Kabutops is often underestimated by people at their peril. He is an absolute beast in the Rain with a Sword Dance under his belt. Waterfall was chosen over Aqua Tail as I didn’t feel the minute power boost was worth the shaky accuracy.

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Rash
60Atk, 252SpA, 196Spe
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Energy Ball/Grass Knot
- Focus Punch

My secondary special sweeper. Energy Ball/Grass Knot is to hit the bulky waters that cause the team trouble if Zapdos is down. Ice Beam is to hit the Dragons and Grass types while Surf is for everything else. Rain Dance in the final move-slot is mostly filler, but hey, you can never have too many Rain Dance users. I’d appreciate advice on whether to go for Grass Knot or Energy Ball. Focus Punch is to take care of Blissey. Thanks to AppleButter2 for this set.

Scizor @ Damp Rock
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SDef
Nature: Adamant
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Rain Dance
- Bug Bite

A set I found on Smogon. Mostly here to deal with Tyranitar and Abomasnow which can really cause this team trouble. It’s bulk and numerous resistances ensures it can easily set up 8 turns of rain. Blissey can cause this team a lot of trouble which is why I decided for the more offensive root with Super Power and Sword Dance.

So, there we go. All advice and suggestions and appreciated, no matter how harsh, and I thank you all in advance for your rates. All in all, I’ve had fun with this team, and isn’t that the most important thing?

Hello

You forgot 6 EV's on Zapdos, I suggest putting them in HP.

You could try Hydro Pump on Kingdra. Over Surf of course

On Kabutops Aqua Jet is the superior option. You already have "Bug Bite" on Scizor and Signal Beam on Kingdra to deal with Grass types (most likely Celebi) already and Brick Break doesn't have the power that Kabutops need.

You have Focus Punch twice on Ludicolo (lol). I suggest replacing one of them with Ice Beam. In OU Grass Knot is choosen over Energy Ball.

Why do you use Sword Dance and U-turn on Scizor? You could replace the later with Bug Bite, with technician it deals more damage then X-scizor and it has STAB, and who knows, you might steal a berry.

Hope I helped!

You really need to make longer descriptions on the sets, or else this topic will most likely get locked.

Just a minor nitpick: Why is Scizor holding a Damp Rock if it doesnt have Rain Dance?

how is your zapdos bulky? It only has 4 HP ev's. I don't think its bulky enough, i think you might want to go with this bulky zapdos EV spread: 248 Hp, 224 SpeDefense, 36 Speed.

Hey, this is a really cool Rain Team, and there is really only one major change I would make; I suggest changing Zapdos for Latias (as a Rain Dance replenisher). Zapdos is good, but this team really has problems taking powerful Electric attacks from the likes of Choice Specs Jolteon and such. Latias can easily sponge these attacks and proceed to Rain Dance with ease. Not only that, but Latias has a phonomenal support movepool, and can really help out your team against Pokemon that would otherwise be bothersome to it. I suggest using a set of Thunder, Recover, Roar, and Rain Dance; then, a spread of 252 Hp / 4 Def / 252 Spe, a Timid nature, and Damp Rock. Recover makes Latias tough to take down, while Roar is a generally helpful support move and allows you to scout for possible problem Pokemon like Tyranitar and take them out quickly. 252 Hp EVs allows Latias to much more easily take attacks from Jolteon, as well as any other Pokemon. This is really all I can suggest, everything else looks good. Hope I helped, and good luck! =)

Hello.

A few comments. Firstly, I highly suggest putting Surf back on Kingdra, if you were using Timid then yes Hydro Pump would be the better option as you'd need the power, but the power of a rain boosted Surf is enough with Modest, the main KOs you miss out on are Swampert and Metagross. Swampert you would let Ludicolo deal with and Metagross has trouble against Zapdos so I think the accuracy boost will suit you better.

On Zapdos, a better spread would be 224 HP / 108 SpA / 176 Spe with a Modest nature. The added bulk helps you against Lucario who decimates weakened Rain Dance teams when rd isn't up, atm theres a high chance of your Zapdos falling to +2 ExtremeSpeed after SR, this sorts that out by making Zapdos always survive. The added power also helps its Thunder become a more powerful weapon against those annoying bulky Water-types, the loss of Speed doesn't hurt that much.

Thats all I've got to say, gl.
