===================
Excellent Special Attack and Speed and access to a powerful STAB Meteor Beam allow Stratagem to serve as a strong wallbreaker and sweeper. Paleo Wave gives Stratagem a STAB move to reliably hit Pokemon such as Baxcalibur, Heatran, Snaelstrom, and Venomicon after it has used Meteor Beam. Fire Blast hits Steel- and Grass-types such as Equilibra, Kingambit, Amoonguss, and Jumbao for huge damage. Energy Ball hits Water-, Rock-, and Ground-types such as Krilowatt, Garganacl, and Ting-Lu hard; crucially, it OHKOes Great Tusk after a boost. Earth Power is an option that allows Stratagem to hit Galarian Slowking and Toxapex significantly harder and OHKO Heatran after a boost, but it is not generally worthwhile over Paleo Wave or a more valuable coverage move. Stratagem can also use Calm Mind and Life Orb instead of Meteor Beam and Power Herb to gain more immediate power and the ability to set up multiple times per game as opposed to Meteor Beam's one-time boost; however, Stratagem's frailty means it can have difficulty setting up, and Life Orb recoil can quickly put it in range of revenge killers. Tera Fire allows Stratagem to most notably OHKO Equilibra with Fire Blast at +1. It also shields Stratagem from Fairy-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves from fast revenge killers such as Iron Valiant and Choice Scarf Gholdengo and priority users such as Baxcalibur, Hemogoblin, and Cawdomore. Tera Grass boosts Energy Ball's power, letting Stratagem more easily break down walls such as Arghonaut, Dondozo, and Ting-Lu and, at +1, OHKO Krilowatt and physically defensive Garganacl.

Stratagem fits best on fast-paced offensive teams that can weaken its checks and take advantage of its wallbreaking ability. Pokemon such as Hisuian Samurott, Greninja, and Glimmora can set entry hazards to make Stratagem much harder to switch into. Physical sweepers such as Kingambit and Sneasler can deal with Stratagem's checks, such as Galarian Slowking and Heatran, and appreciate Stratagem threatening physical walls like Great Tusk, Venomicon, and Zapdos. Wallbreakers such as Baxcalibur, Miasmaw, and Ursaluna can create avenues for Stratagem to sweep by breaking through walls such as Arghonaut and Clodsire. Conversely, fast cleaners such as Iron Valiant and Iron Moth can clean up games after Stratagem has sufficiently weakened shared checks such as Garganacl, Heatran, and Galarian Slowking. On bulkier teams, Stratagem appreciates the presence of Pokemon such as Arghonaut, Venomicon, and Great Tusk that can aid its sweep by forcing progress against opposing walls with entry hazards and Knock Off. On these teams, pivots such as Galarian Slowking, Krilowatt, and Dragapult are key to bring Stratagem into battle safely. Bulky sweepers such as Hemogoblin and Gholdengo make particularly valuable teammates that can take on Pokemon that outspeed Stratagem, such as Dragapult and Iron Valiant, and capitalize on Stratagem weakening the opposing team to reliably end games.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Arghonaut and Clodsire are unbothered by Meteor Beam's Special Attack boost due to Unaware and can easily take on most Stratagem; Arghonaut, however, is 2HKOed by Tera Grass Energy Ball. Galarian Slowking avoids the 2HKO from Meteor Beam into Paleo Wave and can paralyze Stratagem or hit back with Surf. Equilibra can take a Fire Blast and OHKO in return with Flash Cannon after some chip, but it needs to be wary of Tera Fire. Ting-Lu can easily take a hit from Stratagem and phaze it out to remove Meteor Beam's boost; however, it cannot reliably take down Stratagem on its own due to the latter's Levitate.

**Faster Pokemon**: Stratagem's frailty and underwhelming defensive typing leave it acutely vulnerable to almost anything that can outspeed it. Zamazenta and Dragapult can outspeed and OHKO Stratagem with Body Press and Draco Meteor, respectively. Common Choice Scarf and Booster Energy users such as Gholdengo, Jumbao, and Iron Valiant are capable of easily revenge killing Stratagem with their super effective STAB moves.

**Priority**: Powerful priority moves such as Hemogoblin's Extreme Speed, Cawmodore's Bullet Punch, Hisuian Samurott's Aqua Jet, and Kingambit's Sucker Punch can reliably pick off a weakened Stratagem.

Going to do a more comprehensive check later on when I get the time, but for now I would like to see Calm Mind given a slash alongside Meteor Beam, and Life Orb slashed alongside Power Herb.

While Life Orb Calm Mind sets don't pack quite as much as a punch as Meteor Beam sets, they make up for it by having more immediate power and being able to set up multiple times per game (As opposed to Meteor Beam being a one and done deal). I personally think Meteor Beam is the better option overall though, so I would like to see it as the first slash.
