stuck in the mid 1600s with the potential to rise!

so this is my official 2nd ou team ive gotten a few views on po and alot of positive feed back but im completely stuck on the bubble and given my lack of experience here i am to share what could be a potent recipe for destruction

team buliding process

im in love with kyurem black and its massive atk stat and im a little confused as to why choiced scarf garchomp is used over KB? (i guess its cause scarfschomp has better switch ins) still though, i continue my love affair with KB

Kyurem-Black

its at this point i realize, with previous exp. that with a dragon/ice typing he will take punishment from fighting types. my mind set was thinking of something fast strong and ghoulish, enter gengar

Gengar

i havent seen as many rain teams peaking as much as of lately but rotom wash is clearly still used on many teams for obvious reasons. keldeo is at a all time high being used as politoad and tyrantars little pet, what can check these to pokes who can pose a potential threat to my two pokes above? gastrodon works well in the sand not taking residual damge and packing ice beam, as well as stab earth power and scald WITH a recovery move...it just seemed like common sense at the time

gastrodon

the rest is just personal bias as to what i feel counter pokemon ive had trouble with in the past so heres the complete team

The team

kyurem-b (adament)
@choice scarf
40 hp/252 atk/216 spe
teravolt
-outrage
-dragon claw
-fusion bolt
-freeze shock

yes freeze shock...i original had this guy on a choice band leading the pack and freeze shock was usually the move id start things off with, i cant find a good damage calculator but i it always did about 60% resisted and ohko if it wasn't and the 30% paralyze rate isnt bad either, all in all id have to say its the crutch that drew me to this guy i mean 140 base power on a 400+ max atk poke with stab cant be all that bad right? the ev here are essentially so while hes charging the freeze shock up he can live a hit thats not called close combat, stone edge, or any dragon type move (although at full hp i think i took a couple dragon claws from salamence?) i recently switched it up to a scarf and hes probably the best revenge killer ive ever used, being able to kill multiscale dragonite with 1 move is fun and i still lead of with him most of the time

gastrodon (relaxed)
@leftovers
252 hp/ 252 def/ 4 spd
storm drain
-earth power
-scald
-recover
ice beam

standard gastro, walls rotom wash and a few other water types. the stall is ridiculous and he has a little power with a storm drain boost, still im sure the ev spread could be a little better and ive seen toxic on some sets so maybe i could try that out in the future

gengar (timid)
@black sludge
252 spe/ 252 spA/ 4 hp
levitate
-substitute
-disable
-shadow ball
-focus blast

i choose sub disable set...not sure why but it helps with the slight stall and has been working well so far. theres alot of times where gastro will die and i find myself wishing focus blast was something like hp grass, hp fire, or hp ice but hey i guess thats all just situational. gengar is also my spin blocker of choice

kingdra (modest)
@life orb
252 spA/ 60 Def/ 196 spe
swift swim
-rain dance
-hydro pump
-dragon pulse
-ice beam

this is one of the personal biased i was talking about earlier. if the rain is set up via drizzle from a politoad then im in business for a sweep. hydro pump hits extremely hard in the rain backed by stab and a life orb increase and if the rain isnt up i can make the SAFE PREDICTED switch into something set the rain up myself and out speed from there. ninetails gives me virtually no worry if i switch in to a flamethrower i can essentially win the weather war from there. im a little ify on ice beam i guess it could be something and im not sure if these are the correct evs for a rain dance kingdra i assume i dont need max speed if im going to be setting rain up and outspeeding everything anyway

heatran (calm)
@air ballon
252 spD/ 252 hp/ 4 spA
flash fire
-stealth rock
-roar
-lava plum
-earth power

so as im typing all of this im not sure how i got so far up ( i guess some lucky para haxes and some wins against random batton pass teams?) bit yes i do have heatran on this team. volcorana has proven to be a threat to me thus far quiver dance spanks me everytime and i needed to find a check to it, heatran does just that. switching into fire moves, eqs (when ballon is up) dragon type moves, ice type moves...hell virtually anything. roar is so i dont get set up on because this is the bulky set and i can manage to phaze out and get rock damage on things...LIKE VOLCORONA!

skarmory
@leftovers
252 hp/ 252 def/ 4 spD
sturdy
-roost
-whirlwind
-spikes
-brave bird

hazard set up is nice because although KB and kingdra do alot of damage it isnt always 100% with spikes and rocks up they have a better chance to kill. preety standard set and goes hand and hand with skarm if predictions are made correctly

CONCLUSION
this is only my second rmt and i dont feel like i made any progress, my ranking is usually the same and i feel like it could be better maybe its cause i dont calc anything out or maybe its cause im a slave to using the same pokes and fearing the same pokes...someone beat me with a team of gallade, scrafty and milotic i cant remember the other pokes cause those are the ones he used to win and his latter was in the high 1700s any help would be appreciated thanks for viewing

Hey infernape69, looks like you have some good ideas here but your team could use some adjustments so hopefully I can help.

I'll start with some team members you may want to switch out. First of all, not having a spinner with a kyurem-b on your team is just asking for trouble so I would recommend switching your skarmory to a forretress. You won't lose your ability to set hazards plus you gain a rapid spinner which will help a lot with kyub's survivability.

Next, I think you should switch your gastrodon to a specially defensive celebi. The reason for this is simply that gastrodon is not all that good. Plus gastrodon only compounds your breloom weakness and your current team, besides skarmory, hates breloom. Celebi helps with this a lot since it protects you from spore with its natural cure ability and it resists both of breloom's STAB's. Celebi can also take any thunder waves or will-o-wisp's directed at your sweepers and come out unscathed. Lastly, he forms a great defensive core with heatran who already fits well on your team.

Now, we have to improve some of your sets. I'll start out with kyurem since he seems to be the focal point of your team. You said that you have been using him as a revenge killer so I'm going to recommend a true scarf set over your current set. This basically means switch your nature to jolly to maximize speed and put those hp Ev's into the speed stat as well. And also, I can't say I recommend freeze shock either with that second turn leaving you vulnerable to being revenge killed or set up on so I would switch that to ice beam. Even with a negative nature and no investment ice beam still nets the ko's it needs to on things such as Gliscor and landorus-t who enjoy switching in to kyub to tank outrages.

Lastly as small changes I would run Draco meteor over dragon pulse on kingdra for extra power and toxic over earth power on heatran to deal with stall a little better.

Well that's it! Good luck, I hope this will help you move towards your goal. Here are the sets

Kyurem-B @ choice scarf
Jolly nature
252 att/ 252 speed/ 4 hp
Outrage
Dragon claw
Fusion bolt
Ice beam

Forretress @ leftovers
Relaxed nature
252 hp/ 252 def/ 4 sp def/ 0 speed iv
Spikes
Rapid spin
Volt switch
Gyro ball

Celebi @ leftovers
Calm nature
252 hp/ 236 spdef/ 20 speed
Giga drain/ psychic
Recover
Perish song/ thunder wave
Baton pass

EDIT: Little battle tip too, you said you usually lead with your kyurem-b but I would save him for later in the match to revenge kill big threats or simply sweep the opposing team. I think you'll find that to be more effective.

Thank for the advice, it's funny I've been thinking of switching up to a Celibi I just wasn't sure who to swap him out with. I don't always lead with KB but its deffinetly a surprise factor when I land a Ko against dragon leads or toad. The skarm has been giving me some problems too, the hazards are good to set but honestly it's been the whirlwind that's saved me a few times. Ill make the changes tonight thanks

I actually think your Kingdra is good the way it is. I am actually using the exact same one, maybe my EVs are a little different, but actually the same use. The main difference would be the held item. I prefer Damp Rock, because Kingdra can be a king at sweeping. Those additional three turn really matter, but he will lose out the extra power of Life Orb. I did really hate the recoil of Life Orb, main reason why I got rid of it. But if it doesn't sting you, please keep using it.

Kyurem-B is a killer. But Freeze Shock won't work. Your opponent can easily predict it and thus using Protect/Sub/Disable or even Destiny Bond. And what will you do when they switch in ANY dragon? Yes, they WILL OHKO you, without a chance to switch out... I think a 101 Substitute will help you more. So try Substitute > Freeze Shock. It will protect you against status effects and will let you be able to killer the likes of Garchomp/Latios/Salamence before they kill you. Change your item to Expert Belt, Life Orb or Leftovers. I prefer the last.

Good luck on your team :)
