[SET]
Little Pink Blob (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic / Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock / Aromatherapy
[SET COMMENTS]
Chansey is imfamously known for stonewalling most special attackers in the game, as with its chart-topping HP, great special defense, and a good support movepool, few special attackers can break through unscathed. It also has access to Eviolite, increasing its bulk to unfathomable levels. Seismic Toss allows Chansey to spread consistent damage to every Pokémon in the game, reducing its passivity against foes like Hatterene and Mega Diancie. Toxic deals with Pokémon like Kyurem and Volcarona trying to abuse its passivity, putting them on a timer, as well as cripple physical attackers like Samurott-Hisui and Great Tusk trying to switch into it. Thunder Wave can also do this by potentially giving Chansey or it’s teammates free turns, but it comes at the cost of the passive damage given by Toxic, and should this be used on teams with offensive threats. Chansey can use it’s free turns given by it’s walling prowess to be an efficient Stealth Rock setter, as it has the longevity to get them up consistently over the course of a long game. If there’s already a Stealth Rock user on the team, then Chansey can use Aromatherapy to cure status ailments for its teammates. Natural Cure lets Chansey to act as a status absorber for it’s teammates, allowing them some breathing room against Pokemon like Toxapex and Slowking-Galar. Since Chansey’s special bulk is so exceptional even when uninvested, it can afford to max out it’s Defense stat in order to take on Psyshock from Tapu Lele and Iron Crown, as well as being able to take on physical attackers for it’s team as a last resort.
Due to Chansey's abilty to wall a massive portion of the metagame, as well as it's passivity, Chansey is almost exclusively seen on stall teams, although it does see some uses on fat teams. Although Chansey is an amazing special wall, it's physical bulk is less than desired, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon like Great Tusk, Hisuian Samurott, and Kingambit. Pokemon like Corviknight and Dondozo stave off all of these Pokemon, with Dondozo dealing with Pokemon like Dragonite and Kingambit that could use Chansey as setup fodder, while Corviknight can remove entry hazards for Chansey, which allows it to be able to consistently check what it needs to over the long run without hazards cutting into it’s longevity. Since Chansey needs Eviolite to be a bulky menace, Knock Off absorbers like Corviknight and Mega Sableye make amazing teammates, as they can easily take them from Pokemon like Kingambit, Mega Scizor, and Tornadus-T, as well as provide hazard removal for Chansey, as it cannot hold Heavy-Duty Boots.
