Styler 10/6's Posse

It's my first time playing Pokemon... competitively.

I recently came to like Breloom so I tried to build a team around it. While I was building it I avoided legendary. Why? I just don't like 'em. I wanted my team to look semi-"cool". Call me a puritan. This is what I ended up with.

Breloom ♂ (Nickname: Styler 10/6)
Ability: Poison Heal
Held Item: Toxic Orb
Nature: Adamant (+ATK -SATK)
EVs: 12 HP / 244 ATK / 252 SPD
  • Spore
  • Stone Edge
  • Focus Punch
  • Substitute
Nicknamed after the Mad Hatter. He's your average SubPuncher. I had him have Stone Edge to take down flying-types.

Politoed ♂ (Nicknamed: Raymond)
Ability: Drizzle
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold (+DEF -ATK)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 DEF / 4 SPEF
  • Scald
  • Toxic
  • Protect
  • Perish Song
Raymond refers to Rain Man. I noticed Breloom got attacked with fire-type moves often so I decided to take advantage of Politoed new ability Drizzle. I usually lead with him if the opponent has Politoed as well I take my chances with another member of my team. He was built so that he can stall and force switch foes with Perish Song.

Toxicroak ♂ (Nicknamed: Frogger)
Ability: Dry Skin
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant (+ATK -SATK)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 ATK / 4 SPD
  • Drain Punch
  • Sucker Punch
  • Substitute
  • Bulk Up
Frog #2. Taking advantage of the rain, he's the standard Bulk Up Toxicroak. Pretty handy a lot of times. Sucker Punch usually took care of a lot of psychic-types. I have Substitute as one of the moves but I barely use it. I'm reconsidering that move slot. Any suggestions?

Starmie (Nicknamed: Centauri)
Ability: Natural Cure
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Timid (+SPD -ATK)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SATK / 252 SPD
  • Thunder
  • Scald
  • Psyshock
  • Rapid Spin (Ice Beam?)
The binary star system alpha Centauri. It also takes advantage of the rain (Thunder and Scald). Psyshock is for the SDEF strong and DEF weak foes. Is it just me or is Rapid Spin not as useful as people make it to be? Should I change it to Ice Beam?

Umbreon ♀ (Nicknamed: Schrödinger)
Ability: Synchronize
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Careful (+SDEF -SATK)
EVs: 252 HP / 128 DEF / 128 SDEF
  • Payback
  • Mean Look
  • Toxic
  • Wish
So far the team was pretty weak to psychic-types so I enlisted an Umbreon. She did a pretty good job trapping a few Celebis and proved to be a good tank/wish supporter.

Ferrothorn ♂ (Nicknamed: F-Bomb)
Ability: Iron Barbs
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed (+DEF -SPD)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 DEF / 4 SDEF
  • Stealth Rock
  • Leech Seed
  • Gyro Ball
  • Curse
It looked like the team was doing well offensively, so I let Ferrothorn join with Umbreon in the defense department. I found Gyro Ball to be quite strong if I set it up Curse a few times.

So the posse:

This team has a pretty high win rate but I'm having trouble pinpointing the exact weakness to the team. Open for suggestions. Thanks.

descriptions come short of smogons standard. umbreon seems misplaced and while it isnt to say its not potent, its just youve given very little information as to what its role is and how it performs/supports your team. Celebi can U-turn from Umbreon in a solitary second. i wont lock this thread yet unless nothing has been changed later throughout the day or tommorow at the latest.

i find umbreon as the easiest pokemon to set up on in all of pokemon. Example? taunt gyarados. and you have two resistances to psychic in ferrpo and starmie, obviously ferro being the main resistance. so find a different special wall

Does anyone else find this team very weak against Tornadus? A CM Reuniclus to check it or a Scarf'ed revenge killer would probably be much more usefull over Umbreon.

EDIT: I just realized Starmie can outspeed Tornadus to pontecially revenge kill. Still, I think you should consider dropping Umbreon.

Running Scald on an offensive Poké is kind of retarded since the burn isn't really doing shit because Starmie is super frail. I'd replace it with Surf or Hydro Pump.

Umbreon seems like an odd man to me, the rest of your team looks offensive but it is just set-up bait waiting to happen. I would potentially try out Choice Specs Tornadus since your team lacks something like Tornadus that can dent everything in one shot.

Tornadus @ Choice Specs
Trait: Prankster
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Hurricane
- Rain Dance
- U-Turn

The set is just for messing shit up if you don't get it I'm not sure what's up with you.

BU Toxicroak is generally inferior right now to SD Croak:

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Cross Chop
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch

Super powerful and tears up lategame.
