Graveler is a solid addition on balance and defensive teams looking for a physical tank thanks to it's stellar attack and defense stats. STAB Earthquake and Rock Slide provide Graveler with excellent coverage amongst the tier, that can 2HKO many foes. Explosion, Focus Punch with Substitute, and Toxic all provide Graveler with uniquely strong tools in the tier. Graveler faces a fatal 4x weakness to Water and Grass which forces it to flee from common Grass and Water-types such as Tangela, and Marshtomp respectively.

Earthquade is Graveler's best STAB move, capable of 2 or 3HKOing much of the tier. Rock Slide is an excellent additional STAB move that Graveler enjoys to hit Sealeo, and Togetic for super-effective damage. Toxic is a great third move to cover strong physical checks like Tangela that are unbothered by any attack Graveler has to throw at it. Focus Punch is a great option to take advantage the neutral damage it provides without needing to commit to Earthquake or Rock Slide. Substitute is an excellent option to open up Graveler's ability to click a super-effective attack without risk. Explosion, however is a great way to eliminate any threat in the tier. Leftovers is used to provide Graveler some longevity, and serve as a pseudo physical wall. The Adamant nature and EVs are used to help Graveler maximize its damage output.
