Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Poison Jab/Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
Wanted To build a team around one of the underrated Pokemon. I've had really good results out of this 'healing' Toxicroak. A good sweeper, and becomes an absolute tank against Rain Teams. The Ice punch over sword dance is just for coverage. Very effective against Aggron, (2HKO with Drain Punch), and Mawhile (guarenteed 3HKO with Drain). He's not really a sweeper, but not really a stall. Can take some hits, while dealing some damage/healing. Middle of the line but I think he is very good. With the Weakness to Psychic, I usually hard switch to Alakazam to deal with them.
Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat/Iron Head
- Wild Charge
The best Revenge Killer I have experienced. The Extreme Speed does amazing Damage, and a lot of people do not expect to get OHKO’d by Wild Charge against flying types. He is my Opener when I am skeptical against the opposing teams strategy. Absolutely destroys most openers, while OHKO Growth Venusaur, Klefki, Crawdaunt. I have taken care of a lot of sweepers with Arcanine with E-Speed. It really helps to have Jolteon/Zapdos volt switch into Arcanine, besides against ground. I changed out for Iron Head to help take out Fairy types, but if I take out Toxicroak, I am leaving Close Combat.
Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power Ice/Charge Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
-
Typical Special Sweeper. Charge Beam/Calm Mind for the build up if needed. Focus Miss is probably my least favorite move, and I am considering changing it out for Hidden Power. With Alakazam's mediocre defense, he is usually a last resort to take care of weak SDef opponents. His speed is helpful. I have also added Energy Ball to Alakazam to help me take out Swampert and Gastrodon. because I am tired of Focus Miss. Im still hanging on the Mega-Pokemon.
Garchomp @ Choice Band
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
BandChomp is just a monster. I couldn’t resist having to fit this guy into the team because It just utterly destroys anything in its path. When in doubt I just STAB dragon claw. With the X4 weakness to Ice, I have Zapdos, and Arcanine to take care of Ice specific types, and with the Band I am more reluctant to hard switch to Blastoise to take an attack and set up to slowly dwindle it's health down.
Zapdos @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power Ice/Roost
My usual Opener. The Thunderbolt or Volt Switch helps take out opening Skarmorys and Aerodacyls. I tried Mega-Manectric for a while and it seemed to work but once I got into the higher Rankings, Ground was just to much for me to handle. I'm going back to try Zapdos, and I will gladly look into Thundurus I. I want to hope Zapdos is able to effectively take some hits while being a second sweeper. and sorry about Sash, It was a mistake.
Blastoise @
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Protect
- Toxic
- Scald/Aqua Jet
- Rapid Spin
Spinner, and Defensive build. Favorite Pokemon by far is Wartortle, so when I can fit in the Gen 1 starter, I tend to go with it. The Toxic/Protect really helps for stalling against bulky physical attackers. This is usually a hit absorber, to dwindle down Ice Types, and unset Dragon types. With Toxic, Protect, Scard, I usually am able to let Blastoise die to take out a Garchomp or Haxorus. He is a decent counter to Gliscar to stall, but there could be a better replacement for ground types. (Open to suggestions on replacement)
I am no longer undefeated so sorry for the Title, I wish I could change it, but I have been switching stuff around. It seems my Blastiose has been taking a lot of hits and Leftovers absolutely helps over the Rocky Helmet. Thank you for that suggestion. I am very concerned about priority hits. I have added Aqua Jet instead of Scald to Blastoise for a few battles to see what would happen. I was thinking of putting Infernape for Arcanine and Mega-Absol for Toxicroak. Thoughts?
