Moves
=========
The job of suicide lead Landorus-T is to set up Stealth Rock as early as possible. Focus Sash makes it impossible to OHKO, allowing it to safely set up Stealth Rock. To prevent slower Pokemon from setting up their own Stealth Rock, Landorus-T can use Imprison. Alternatively, Rock Tomb denies setup sweepers and hits faster targets like Tornadus-T, dealing chip damage, and allows Landorus-T to set up Stealth Rock on the next turn thanks to the Speed advantage. Earthquake deals heavy damage to grounded foes like Excadrill and Mega Diancie, which can otherwise disrupt Landorus-T from its core function as a Stealth Rock setter. Explosion finalizes its moveset, allowing Landorus-T to get off a strong hit and sacrificing itself and safely bring in a teammate. U-turn can be used instead of Explosion when used alongside Imprison; it prevents other Landorus-T and Mega Scizor from pivoting out with U-turn and breaking Landorus-T's Focus Sash. It also allows Landorus-T to gain momentum and provides a teammate a safe switch in, preserving Landorus-T for later in the game.
Set Details
=========
Maximum Speed and Attack investment with a Jolly nature allow Landorus-T to outspeed Excadrill, letting it prevent Rapid Spin attempts with an OHKO from Earthquake. The high Attack also threatens out Mega Diancie and makes Explosion as strong as possible. Alternatively, Landorus-T can run 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe and a Jolly nature with either Rocky Helmet or Yache Berry as its item. 248 HP EVs allow Landorus-T to absorb physical hits and pivot into its teammates with U-turn, which should be used on this set over Explosion. Yache Berry can be used to survive strong Ice-type moves like Icicle Crash from Weavile, Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus, and Ice Beam from Mega Latias to either set up Stealth Rock or deal heavy damage to the foe. This set is recommended for teams that struggle with physically offensive threats like Mega Lopunny and want Landorus-T to pivot into them once or twice. This is often used in combination with Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar, Serperior, and Mega Alakazam.
Usage Tips
=========
This Landorus-T variant should set up Stealth Rock as soon as possible while preventing others from setting up. Against faster foes, it can make sense to use Rock Tomb first. After setting up and preventing Stealth Rock, Explosion is usually the best course of action, allowing a teammate to come in safely. When faced with a faster suicide lead such as Aerodactyl, Mew, or Azelf, Landorus-T will not be able to set up Stealth Rock because of opposing Taunt. In that case, Landorus-T can either use Rock Tomb to deal chip damage or another lead should be chosen instead. When running U-turn, Landorus-T can absorb the Taunt as well as break a possible Focus Sash and pivot into a threat for the opposing lead.
Team Options
=========
This Landorus-T variant functions best on offensive teams. In comparison to other suicide leads, it is easier to set up Stealth Rock against Landorus-T. Therefore, it should be paired with either a Rapid Spin user like Excadrill or Cloyster or partnered with Mega Diancie, since it can prevent entry hazards with Magic Bounce. This Landorus-T set can also be used on offensive teams that are not particularly weak to Stealth Rock and profit from the dynamic of Intimidate and Landorus-T's attacks. Other good teammates are Pokemon that appreciate their common checks being weakened by Stealth Rock, such as Volcarona, Serperior, and Bisharp, whose threats include Talonflame, Volcanion, Dragonite, and Tornadus-T. Serperior especially appreciates Landorus-T's Stealth Rock chipping down Weavile and opposing Volcarona, while Serperior takes on bulky Water-types such as Rotom-W and Slowbro that annoy Landorus-T and uses Taunt to prevent foes from using Defog to clear hazards or set up their own. Other setup Pokemon like Manaphy take advantage of the Water- and Ice-types that Landorus-T draws in and use the opportunity to set up Tail Glow.
