Suicune Sweep: My first rmt

Suicune_for_Laxia_by_chibi_jen_hen.jpg

So I started playing on shoddy about a week ago and I think I finally found a team that has been winning a lot of matches. I'm using Suicune as the main sweeper. After a calm mind it can survive almost any un-boosted special attack and dish one out with a lot of power. Advice would be appreciated since I'm new to the battling scene.

In Depth:

roserade.png

Timid- (Roserade) @ Focus Sash
Ability- Natural Cure
EVs- 252 Speed, 252 SpAttack, 6 Hp
-Toxic Spikes
-Sleep Powder
-Leaf Storm
-Sludge Bomb

Orginally was a Mamoswine but thanks to a rate I see that Roserade fits in much better for the team. I sleep powder any lead that is slower and then set-up Toxic spikes while they switch. Sludge Bomb is there for STAB and a powerful way to posion pokes immune to Toxic Spikes. Suicune and the rest of my team benefits greatly from having sleep and posion support. It also provides amazing status aborsbtion(Natural Cure) which would otherwise cripple Suicune.

magnezone.png

Timid- (Magnezone) @ Leftovers
Ability- Magnet Pull
EVs: 70 Attack, 188, Speed, 252 SpAttack
-Magnet Rise
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power (Fire)
-Explosion

Here for one reason only, to hunt down steels. With steel being such a popular typing magnezone earns a spot on the team by being able to take down any steels in the way (especially scizor). He's running a timid nature to outspeed any non-scarfed metagross with no speed EVs. This is important because if Zone doesn't get a magnet rise up before the oncoming earthquake, it is dead. The attack EVs are there so Explosion packs a bigger punch. Speaking about that, Zone also comes in handy when an opponent puts out a poke that completly walls the team such as blissey. I weaken it with some thunderbolts and Hidden powers and then after it protects I explode hopefully killing it.

Timid- (Gengar) @ Life Orb
Ability-Levitate
EVs: 252 SpAttack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Destiny Bond

Gengar is one of the most important parts of my team. It switches in on fighting types to protect Magnezone and Tyranitar from almost certain death. Running a Timid nature brings a total 350 speed which outruns almost everthing. Focus Blast and Thunderbolt are there for type coverage and come in use when up against bulky waters or tanks. Gengar also proves his worth with the almighty Destiny Bond. When used with prediction it can completly turn aroound the whole game. Destiny Bond can ruin opponent's sweeps and make way for my suicune to set up her's.

gliscor.png

Jolly- (Gliscor) @ Leftovers
Ability- Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Hp, 40 Defence, 216 Speed
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Taunt
-Stealth Rocks

Thanks to pkmtrainerblue for the suggestion, Gliscor fits in perfectly for my team. Immune to the electric attacks aimed at Suicune, gets an evasion boost due to sand veil, can ruin any stall team with Taunt, is able to recover Hp with roost, and finally supports the team with Stealth Rocks. Not only that but it can OHKO Lucario who is a major threat to the team. Whats not to like? I chose Jolly nature over Impish so that I can outrun and all non jolly Lucario and OHKO with Earthquake.

tyranitar.png

Adamant-Dust Bowl (Tyranitar) @ Leftovers
Ability- Sand Stream
EVs: 100 HP, 252 Attack, 152 Defence. 6 SpDefence
-Curse
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Brick Break

A run-off of the CurseTar, this set has proven most effective for me. Taking advantage of T-Tar's massive Base 134 Attack and 110 Defence, curse allows me to Tank through an opponents team. T-Tar also has incredible synergy with the rest of the team. It takes care of Electric,Rock, Normal, and Flying while Magnezone, Gyrados and Suicune take care of Ground, Steel, Bug, and Grass elimating eachother's weaknesses.

Modest- Waverunner (Suicune) @ Lum Berry
Ability- Pressure
EVs: 52 HP, 100 Defence, 252 SpAttack, 106 Speed
-Calm Mind
-Hidden Power (Electric)
-Surf
-Ice Beam

The star of the show Suicune! With its incredible HP, Defences, and Special Attack it fits the mold for a great sweeper. I wanted it to survive multiple attacks so 100 Defence EVs and 52 HP EVs are used at the cost of speed. After 1-2 Calm Minds she can tank through almost everything. Even if the rest of the team could not get rid of its resistences it can still continue the sweep with HP Electric and Ice Beam. I chose to use a Lum Berry over Leftovers because everytime I would set up for a sweep I would get crippled by a status.

I'm still learning so any advice is good. I will try and come up with a threat list later.

Quite solid Imo but it almost looks like a MixApe can tear through this team.

im no at all very convinced that suicune can sweep alot hahaa i've killed alot with a Latias with Calm Mind. I suggest a CalmMind and Subsitute Suicune.

Sub, to protect against toxic, and just wall with CM. Works Super Well with Latias, so im sure it will work for suicune.

O yeah, and you have quite a weakness to Grass.

Offensive Cune is alot more common now, but theres a set I think you should use over it. CroCune is the most annoying thing to face ever, with your team focusing around it she would fit much better. CroCune becomes much more amazing with poison status though, so there's little reason not to run a Roserade lead with it. Roserade incapacitates leads with Sleep Powder and sets up reliable toxic spikes. Other than that, good team and good luck with it.

Replace Mamoswine for Roserade, Toxic Spikes are much more important than SRs on this team and Mamoswine isn't an outstanding lead from what I've tested of him.

Crocune doesnt work as well as I thought it would. one problem with it is that Gyrados can easily set up on me and without HP Electric I cant take him down. Also it takes an endless pp stall to take down vaporeon. So Im going to stick with the one I have.

You might want something countering DDMence. I recommend switching Gengar into a Scarf one with 4hp/252SpA/252speed. Then you can have a scarf of course with Shadowball/HPIce/Thunderbolt/Trick or Focusblast.

Overall nice team and good luck.

Well sorry for this taking so long but I finally got to it (I was swamped with tons of other teams)

But anyway,
I agree with the scarf gengar (even though it is very easily trapped by pursuit pokemon especially scizor). Either that or a Heatran scarf set which will not get trapped by pursuit but will open up your team to fighting assaults hence the added fighting weakness with adding Heatran (Sorry if you can not understand how I worded that) One threat I saw is that a Heracross could almost have a field day with you. So lets say you got your toxic spikes up then a Heracross with guts gets poisoned by them so now he gets his guts boost. Then he could begin to rampage through your team. Lets say it is a standard one. Close Combat tyranitar and Magnezone, stone edge bye bye gyrados, night slash see ya Gengar, then the other two are hit neutral bye megahorn. So to stop him you will have to use a few Pokemon and with proper set-up I think Heracross could do some heavy damage. Actually a Pokemon with a fighting move a ghost/dark move and a electric (Now your main sweeper is in the mix Suicune) or rock move could run right threw your team. Also you could have some trouble with Lucario with his fighting and rock moves and also commonly carries crunch. So I two for one special is needs to be here. I call Gliscor. Gliscor can effectively counter both sets (Though he must be wary of the ice punch from lucario.) So I think this set should work for you:

Gliscor @ leftovers
ability sand veil
nature Impish
evs 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
Moves: Earthquake, Roost, Stealth Rock, Aerial Ace

Ok this set should fit the bill by being able to wall Physical attackers as well as take out the two threats mentioned above (Lucario and Heracross) with it's respective STAB moves. Roost is nice for the reliable recovery so he will be staying around a while. Stealth Rock to help your sweepers and get rid of focus sashes (Though who uses focus sashes on anything but a lead.) I was thinking about getting rid of your gyrados for this guy but that is up to you. Also if you were to get rid of Gyrados you might want to give it taunt over stealth rock to help prevent the enemy from using it as a set-up fodder. Eh by the way this is copied off of the StrategyDex so if you want even more info just look there on the defensive set =D.

Well that is my rate and I hope it helps. And if nothing it brought this problem to your attention. Good luck

Thanks a lot. now that I think about it gliscor fit in very nicely with my team and I was thinking of replacing gyrados anyway because of its electric weakness and 25% Hp loss to stelth rocks. I think gliscor is a very suitable replacement
