Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- SolarBeam
- Focus Blast
When I went to make my first Gen 6 team, I decided for it to be Sun-Based. So obviously, I decided to use Charizard for setting up the sun. And I have been amazed with the results. If I can safely lead with Charizard, I can win games 5-0 at worst. It's ridiculous how many wins I get from it alone.
Heatran @ Assault Vest
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Solar Beam
I played with the Heatran/Celebi/Gliscor defense in Gen 5 OU, and I loved defensive Heatran. So when I decided to make a sun team, I decided to use an Offensive Heatran, and it works really well. It handles random Dragon, Grass, and Fairy attacks really well. I decided to run Assault Vest for a bulkier Heatran, and I'm happy I decided to run it.
Trevenant @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SDef
Careful Nature
- Horn Leech
- Shadow Claw
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
Trevenant is an interesting Pokemon. When it works, it works well. When it doesn't work, it fails hard. It's a good status absorber, and can handle hits relatively well, but it's a tad bit fragile, making it hard to switch in sometimes. It might need to be replaced, I'm not sure.
Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Sunny Day
I didn't get the love for Talonflame for a long time, then I used it here. It handles Baton Pass teams (which I've been seeing here and there surprisingly), and racks up OHKOs quickly. Not sure what I should put for the Fourth move, so I gave it Sunny Day. If I could get input on it I'd appreciate it.
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Gooey
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
Ever since I heard the idea of Assault Vest Goodra, I've wanted to use it. It works surprisingly well. It takes Special Hits really well, and can be death fodder against fast Physical pokemon like Charizard X or Scizor.
Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Trick
This is the main reason I want input. Back in Gen 5 OU, I used Latios a TON. It blasted things to death really well, and demolished teams. So when I was deciding for a sixth pokemon, I decided to try Latios. It's easily the worst team I've used him on. He rarely gets a chance to switch in, either from a bad match-up or there being something else to handle it better. After thinking, I've decided I want to try a Pokemon for setting up entry hazards, so that I can make sure to get the OHKO on some pokemon (I fought a Rotom Wash with Charizard, and it survived Solar Beam with 1% HP, to retaliate back with Hydro Pump). I've been considering Mamoswine for handling Dragon types a bit better and Ferrothorn for Spikes and Rocks, but they both clash with the Sun. I was thinking of maybe using Terrakion for Fire, Flying, and Rock types, which my team has some problems with.
After testing with that team, I got 16 wins and 9 losses. Not the worst team I've ever made, but I have made better ones out there, and want to know how to improve it more.
