VGC Sun Team + Mega Slowbro

Hello everyone. I'd like to say I'm new to trying to play competitively, but I'm not. I'm just really bad at it. So here I am attempting to get some help with a Battle Spot Doubles team.

The first thing I'd like to say about my team is that I don't like to use super commonly-used or uber-powerful Pokemon. I just don't have fun when I use those. So I try to either come up with other Pokemon that fit together well, or crazy, weird sets for common Pokemon.

With that out of the way, here is my Sun Team + Mega Slowbro.

I started off with thinking "I'm going to make a sun team, but I don't want to use Charizard-Y" (see above). So I thought about it and picked out a nice Fire-Water-Grass core in Ninetails, Slowbro and Leafeon.

Ninetales (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Drought
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Bold Nature
- Heat Wave
- Extrasensory
- Solar Beam
- Dark Pulse

Obviously the sun setter, I like bulky Pokemon so I went with an Assault Vest variant. Decent coverage with the powerful Solar Beam in the sun to deal with dangerous ground and water types. Not really much else to say about this one, it's the core of the team and brings out that sunlight. I went with a standard specially offensive EV set to make sure those Heat Waves are hitting hard enough.

Slowbro (F) @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 50
EVs: 244 HP / 12 SpA / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off

Probably the MVP of the team and my set up sweeper, after a couple of Calm Minds it is really hard to take him out and he hits pretty darn hard. I go with the SpDef EVs because I like to shore up his defenses on all sides from the start since this is doubles and I can't guarantee that I'm switching in on or setting up on only physical moves. 244 HP EVs gives me an odd HP number and the excess goes to SpA for a little extra damage.

Heliolisk (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Solar Power
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hyper Voice
- Grass Knot
- Electrify

This one is fun. Electrify is super neat when your opponent tries to Earthquake or use a water type move on my Excadrill and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Decent coverage with his other moves and the ability lets him hit pretty hard after Ninetails has been around. Air Balloon is his item simply because I don't know what else to use.

96px-470Leafeon.png

Leafeon (M) @ Rawst Berry
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Leaf Blade
- X-Scissor
- Knock Off
- Protect

Leafeon's Chlorophyll places him in a good spot with the sun up and I needed someone with Knock Off on the team somewhere. Standard offensive EVs and a Rawst berry for the inevitable burns coming his way. Unfortunately doesn't get much use very often and therefore don't have much experience on how well he does.

96px-530Excadrill.png

Excadrill (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Protect

My necessary ground type since my MVP is a water type, it's fun to use him alongside Electrify Heliolisk. More standard offensive EVs, perfect coverage and Mold Breaker to hit Rotoms and the like. Life Orb for as much damage as can be dished out. Puts in more work than Leafeon most of the time. Iron Head is important for fairy types, specifically Sylveon (though Sylveon isn't allowed in the next rated season).

96px-620Mienshao.png

Mienshao (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Rock Slide
- Protect

My Lopunny/Kangaskhan Fake Out replacement, as well as being immune to the flinch himself. Focus Sash so ensure another attack after being hit hard by something and Jolly to make sure I outspeed things. I needed some fighting damage and the flinch is always useful.

So, after all that, I've played this team a few times and it's definitely fun but I've realized I don't have much to hit the incredibly common dragons like Salamence. Rock Slide does decent damage but it isn't enough. I know I could replace one of Slowbro's moves with Ice Beam but I really don't want to do that. Dual STABs hits so hard.

The other team type I have trouble with is Trick Room but if Slowbro is out and setting up they aren't a real threat.

Any suggestions are very welcome.

I'm on mobile and as such my Rey probably won't be the most eloquent thing in the world, but, no offense, your team isn't the best in the world. Right off the bat you have no ice type coverage at all (unless I'm missing something) and no way to hit Salamence super hard. It demolishes your team excepting focus sashes. Label also causes a whole heckuva lot of problems for you. It's sad to say, but there is almost no way to make a sun team that relies on Mega-SlwBro. Might I also point out that a regular sun team demolishes your team as well? You seem to be putting moms on that, in theory, are good, like HJK mienshao, but in a meta where protect is the most common move mienshao is one of the less viable Pokemon. Might I suggest Haryama with Fake-Out, CC, Knock Off, and whatever else you want? The EV spreads are kinda basic, not that that is necessarily terrible, it just can be better. You might want to add something in your RMT showing the success you've had with this team so we can better rate it. Check this thread and see how each mom ranks up against your team http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/vgc-2015-viability-rankings-b-rank-nominations.3526526/

I could definitely go with Hariyama, that probably will work better than Mienshao. As for the ice coverage, I already knew that, I'm just not sure where/how I should fit it in. The Sun-team/Slowbro thing is basically just two separate sets I can run from team preview

Ugh, this might be a tough one to make, but i'll give it my most effort.
First of all, i got the feeling that all Mega Slowbro teams should be ran on TR, Semi-TR or TailRoom playstyles, as it's naturally low base speed (30) makes it PERFECT for TR teams. I'm not a fact of Mega Slowbro in VGC as it's pretty outclassed by some other Water type Pokémon (e.g Rotom-W) even under TR (best example of it is Gastrodon, which you can see on most if not all Mega Camerupt TR teams), but given that i once faced a really good Mega Slowbro TR team in a big local tournament Chile has (it was a RainRoom team, which used Slowbro as TR setter and it used it's pre mega evolution Oblivious ability to stop taunts).
To be fair, there's little to no thing i can actually help you out with this team, as the team runs so many gimmicky Pokémon that have shown work on completely separate teams, but you picked them all together and make the team synergy somewhat unstable.

Honestly, I am awful at trying to build team synergy. I would love to get into proper competitive play (minus the standard-use Pokemon like Mega-Khan, Salamence, Landorus, etc), but I'm really, really, irredeemably bad at building a good team composition. I'm good at building single, separate Pokemon, but that is all.
