Hey, this is my first post on here so it might not be that good haha.
Just started playing pokemon showdown not to long ago and this is my first team i have created, i've changed it quite a bit from what it originally was.

THE TEAM

038.gif

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Nasty Plot

Ninetales is essential to get the sun up with its ability drought, I usually lead with this to get the sun out. It has a strong STAB move + it gets boosted by the suns power and can OHKO many lead pokemon right off the bat. Solar beam is a really useful move used with sun active, while the sun is active water moves usually don't 1HKO ninetales so ninetales can solarbeam a water pokemon which will OHKO most water sweepers. Sunny day is used to get the sun back out if it runs out while ninetales is active. Nasty Plot is useful when they have no dragon pokemon on their team to pick a few off their pokemon off, I use this when they have a tank out and i feel that ninetales won't faint.
Ninetales main role is to support the team with the sun and as a bonus have some attacking potential, but doesn't have the best speed and can be easily OHKO'd.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll/Thick fat (mega)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

Venusaur is a bulky attack which can be speedy in the sun when it's not mega or if I don't it needs the extra speed i can mega evolve it to have better stats with the fire and ice type resistance from thick fat which is really nice. It has two STAB's Giga Drain which can heal back some health and do quite a bit of damage which is nice, and Sludge Bomb which does a lot of damage and has a little chance to poison. HP Fire makes good use of the sun and a nice move that opponents usually don't expect you to have it. Synthesis to heal back up with and heals a bit more when the sun is active. Useful move when Giga Drain won't do much damage or when used to sustain during a battle against a pokemon that doesn't do more than 50% damage to your HP.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Heatran is useful to absorb fire moves, air balloon is useful to block an incoming ground move aswell. Fireblast is really useful with the STAB bonus and sun and flashfire can be active which gives it insane damage. HP Ice is usually just to hurt ground types and flying types. Heatran is really useful to take out dragon and flying types due to its bulkiness to take a few hits and the high damage it can output. I mainly use heatran to take damage and to output a lot of damage aswell.

149.gif

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

Dragonite is my only physical attacker which is why i chose him. Dragonite has reasonable speed so it can attack before getting hit in some cases but with its ability multiscale can take a hit before it faints in most cases. The moves i used are some good move coverage to damage pokemon physically with fire punch taking advantage of the sun and Dragon Claw STAB bonus. Dragon dance can be used in some cases to make Dragon hit hard and be faster. I mainly use dragonite to break through a physical wall, but is useful as a sweeper aswell.

134.gif

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Roar
- Protect
- Ice Beam

Vaporeon is useful to absorb water moves when the sun isn't up usually with water absorb. Vaporeon is a hybrid tank. Wish heals a lot especially in the sun, i can use it to heal another pokemon or it can use wish + protect to sustain quite easily. Roar is mainly used to get rid of an enemy pokemon that has had its stats boosted. Ice beam is its only attack which is useful to take out dragon, flying and ground types. I usually use vaporeon to take a heavy attack, stall or wish pass. Vaporeon can be really useful sometimes.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Grass Knot
- Extrasensory
- Dark Pulse

Greninja is used as a backup attacker, he is really unpredictable with the ability Protean and that I have HP Fire on him which takes advantage of the sun. It's really useful to have to take out water type pokemon when the sun isn't up with its grass knot and also works good against tyranitar with grass knot on him. I use greninja to counter tyranitar because he annoys me with his sandstorm and as an attack that doesn't really need the sun. Also because of his unpredictability, he seems to work really well on my team.

CONCLUSION
I hope this RMT wasn't too bad! This team wasn't as good when i first started when I was using victreebel and jumpluff but through switching out quite a few pokemon i think i've found it to be quite a good team for my first team. Any advice will be
appreciated.
Cheers!

Hey Scanuy

Welcome to Smogon. Sun is a difficult playstyle to pull off in OU this gen, but if you're willing to give it a try, then props to you. Vaporeon seems out of place on this team, as with Sun you really want to play offensively and apply as much pressure to the opponent as possible. Your other 5 Pokemon are all capable of applying pressure in some way, but Vaporeon doesn't do the same thing and every time you go to it, you waste valuable turns of Sun. Latias with a moveset of Draco Meteor / Psyshock / Defog / Healing Wish would work well in Vaporeon's place. Latias gives you an additional check to Keldeo as the Choice Specs HP Flying variant is a bit annoying to your team. A way to clear entry hazards is almost mandatory on a Sun team as Ninetales is weak to Stealth Rock and Defog lets you switch around more and also keep Dragonite's Multiscale intact. Lastly, Healing Wish provides great support for your team. If anything on your team gets low or hit by status, you can sacrifice Latias to bring them back. So you have another shot at sweeping with Dragonite, getting sun with Ninetales, etc.

Is Nasty Plot Ninetales working well for you? I feel that a RestTalk Ninetales with a moveset of Rest / Sleep Talk / Flamethrower / Will-o-Wisp would be better. This gives Ninetales a bit more staying power, so it doesn't always get OHKO'ed and can set up Sun more often. Will-o-Wisp nails things that may try to switch into it like Tyranitar and Garchomp. If you feel like you are running out of Sun and need more durability, then this set would be the way to go.

On Dragonite, use Lum Berry over Leftovers. DD Nite is usually just 1 or 2 DDs and then try to sweep. Leftovers usually won't be helping too much on any Dragonite set that doesn't run Roost while Lum Berry lets you avoid status once so that a potential sweep doesn't get shut down. Adamant nature over Jolly nature for Dragonite is also preferred, he really needs the extra power.

Lastly, an EV spread of 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe on Mega Venusaur allows him to outpace Adamant Azumarill and Mawile
