SM OU Sun Team

Everybody wants a spot at the sun and in this team I intended to explore that preference of the population. Harsh sunlight decreases Water-type moves' power, increases Fire-type moves' power, accelerates moves like Solar Beam and provides a boost in moves like Synthesis and Moonlight. I intende to exploit all these advantages with this team. Help is appreciated.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Fire Blast

The first concern of a sun team is to set up that sweet harsh sunlight on the field. Mega Charizard Y is the first sun setter. It is usually used first since sometimes the opponent will use Stealth Rock. I chose a balanced moveset. Roost provides recovery, Solar Beam is a counter against Water-, Grounf-, and Rock-types that benefits form Vitamin D acceleration and Air Slash and Fire Blast are its stabs.

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earth Power
- Lava Plume

A team that uses the sunlight as an advantage is always going to have trouble against Stealth Rock. Torkoal, an user of Rapid Spin is a counter against them. It can also set up sunlight thanks to Drought and use its own Furtive Flint against the opponent's field. Earth Power is used as a coverage move and Lava PLume is the stab with the added status bonus.

Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psychic
- Solar Beam

Another effect of the sun is that it ensures a bountiful Harvest every turn, so why not exploit it? Exeggutor uses this ability with Wiki Berry to be a pain to the types that are strong to Fire-types. Sleep Powder cripples one opponent. Hidden Power [Fire] is

Venusaur @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb

Venusaur benefits from the sun by usinf its ability Chlorophyll to speed up and amplify the effecgtiveness of its Synthesis boosting its recovering power. Leech Seed forces the opponent to exit or face a uphill battle. Hidden Power [Fire] is an unexpected move against Steel-types an Sludge Bomb is a stab against other Grass-types.

Cresselia @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonlight
- Toxic
- Protect
- Shadow Ball

Since the harsh sunlight nudges the team to an intensive use of Fire- and Grass- type, it is useful to have one or two pokémon outside their weaknesses and strenghts to balance the team. I chose Cresselia because as a Psychic-type she could cover the Grass-type elements of the team weakness to Poison-type and use a boosted Moonlight to recover its HP. Toxic and Protect make a nasty combination in a defense oriented pokémon such as this one and Shadow Ball provides coverage against many types.

Clefable is the other pokémon outside of Fire-, Grass-type coverage. Moonlight allows it to benefit form the sun and, combined with Leftovers, ensures its recovery. Calm Mind boosts its Special Attack and Special Defense and Fire Blast counters Steel-types. Moonblast is its stab move.
