Sunny Day Team: Magma Planet

Hello guys :D I've just started playing Pokemon X and Y about 2 weeks ago and I have already finished making my Pokemon Team. It's just a new fresh team that I started making so it's not any good yet, I have yet to know what pokemon are viable or not.

PROCESS

I started off with a Charizard. This is one of the reasons that I'm making a Sunny Day team. As you all know, Mega Charizard Y has the ability Drought, and it only happens after you activate the mega evolution. That means when the opponent has a Rain Dance team with Drizzletoad or Tyranitar, after the mega evolution, Sunny Day will always come into priority. Not to mention how good of a sweeper he is with the stats after mega evolution.

What kind of Sunny Day team doesn't abuse Chlorophyll? Venusaur is the next choice. Other chlorophyll pokemon doesn't seem as good to me, I want to utilize Solarbeam well, so with Venusaur, I think this will work good. Also along with the stats boost Growth, it makes Solarbeam just so deadly.

Next, I need a Rapid Spinner, and this is really necessary. One stealth rock, whenever I want to switch my Charizard back out, it's 50% HP gone. I also need to counter some crazy new threats such as the new Mega Gengar with Shadow Tag and 170 Sp Atk and 130 Speed. It's ridiculous.

Thinking I already have 3 special attackers, I figure I would need a physical sweeper. Salamence is the beast. Dragon types are always viable in teams, but fairy has became a new threat. But it's no problem, with Sunny Day, Fire Fang gets to around 97.5 power. I have reasons to why I don't like using Fire Blast on Salamence or Mixed Sweepers. So I would always go for the Fire Fang or the stat they're best in. Fire Fang works for me.

STEALTH ROCK. I. NEED. STEALTH ROCK. Focus sashers always just pisses me off. I just cant seem to be able to sweep them out with my Charizard or Venusaur because of this. It's annoying me too much. I NEED ONE. I also wanna state how he can learn Rock Polish. It just makes everything so much easier. One Rock Polish, and everyone dies by a Head Smash or Crunch.

Fairy types are good. When dragon-types are so overrated in this game, fairy types are so awesome against them. Especially when I have my Salamence or Tyrantrum out against their Choice Scarfed Hydreigon with Draco Meteor, all you need to do is switch out and BOOM. If they think they can kill a Florges with a special attack they will die.

I see that now ever since Pokemon has removed the Stealth Rock TM, there has been a lot less Entry Hazard setters except for Pokemon like Clefki and stuff. Even if its a huge threat for my Charizard, I have decided to remove Starmie and Tyrantrum. Then I added Slowbro, giving my team more bulkiness. I also think that I don't need Thunderbolt that much, because it only deals super effective damage against Flying and Water type Pokemon, while Ice Beam and Solarbeam can do the same thing. Now I know that Starmie can also learn Ice Beam, but I wanted to give it more of a "Sunny Day" feeling, so I used Slowbro for the Fire Blash. As for Tyrantrum, I don't need the Stealth Rock, I need Blaziken. Blaziken right now is so strong I can't pass him on. My team lacked a fighting type move, so I need him, and a Sunny Day boosted STAB Flare Blitz along with a Speed Boost on him is good enough for me.

I DONT NEED A DRAGON TYPE, SCREW IT. Come on Scizor, I need you, Dragon Types are useless. I have my Florges, I have my Ice Beam Slowbro, and I have my Dragon Pulse Charizard, I don't need a Dragon Type Pokemon. I need a Pokemon that can sweep psychic, dark, and fairy, and rock types like a frickin man. YOU SCIZOR, YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE. There's nothing much to say about this one.
006.gif

Nefertem (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze > Drought
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- Solarbeam
- Dragon Pulse (Old: Air Slash)

This pokemon is just so good. Mega Charizard Y just beats all other weathers because it only changes the weather after it mega evolves, and having it as the first thing done in the turn is amazing. This pokemon can sweep a lot of pokemon, like Mega Gengar, Abomasnow, Drizzletoad, everything is done easily. But the main threat to this pokemon are dragon types like Goodra which has high special defense. I changed Air Slash into Dragon Pulse. I have to sacrifice my Charizard's only Fighting-type killing STAB move for a move to sweep Dragon types too.

003.gif

Sieg (Venusaur) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Solarbeam
- Growth
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder

This big fat beast right here, is just PERFECT for my team. Using Chlorophyll with the sun to first turn Sleep Powder other beasts, and using the sun again to maximize the power of Growth. Then using the sun AGAIN to use Solarbeam, I just can't get enough of this sweep master. But it's extremely weak to pokemon like Trick Room Reuniclus.

080.gif

Poseidon (Slowbro) @ Quick Claw
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 4 SpA / 84 SpD
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast
- Thunder Wave

This baby right here will kill you all without that stoned face even moving. Okay no. But it's way stronger than Starmie, covering the flying type killer with Ice Beam, and just leaving Water type to someone else. But I want to add this Sunny Day feeling to my Water-type too. Slowbro can learn Fire Blast so hell yeah why not. Not to mention his bulkiness, mmmmmm. Delicious. Quick Claw sometimes giving me a chance to Thunder Wave people first, so they get reaaaaal slow. Replacing Starmie was a tough choice because he was a Rapid Spinner but RIP.

Old Starmie <3
121.gif

Shuriken (Starmie) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic

This guy. This god darn star. Fast enough to get a Rapid Spin off, ALWAYS. Even if he doesn't, he will get one off no matter what with a Focus Sash. Or it's always a good choice to use a Thunder Wave first and then use Rapid Spin, unless it's an Electric type pokeon. Psychic with STAB bonus always just wipes pokemon like Machamp's face off the world. Reason I don't give it Surf is because of the Sun but this is good enough.

212.gif

Lempo (Scizor) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- U-Turn
- Brick Break

Scizor. My favorite sweeper in BW. A typical Swords Dance Scizor, nothing much to talk about here. Technician and Life Orb with SD just boosts the hell out of Bullet Punch, it kills everyone, literally. The team before when I didn't have my Scizor was completely outplayed by Psychic types. My team had completely NO MOVES that beats Psychic-types. Now that I have SD U-Turn, all iz well. How could NO ONE hate on Espeons setting up dual screens. It pisses me off. That's why I got a Brick Break instead of a Superpower and it just destroys. I had to sacrifice my only Pokemon with Ground-type moves for a Pokemon that kills Psychic-types because of threats such as Mega Alakazam or Trick Room Reuniclus.

Old Salamence <3
373.gif

Tiamat (Salamence) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

Now, the reason I don't like to use Fire Blast on Salamence nor do I like to use Mixed Sweepers is because I want to maximize a pokemon's full potential, not with it's movepool but it's stats. I want it to have at least as much defense as it can so that at least it might even be able to help a little. This big baby here when facing off against a Goodra, it will always win due to Goodra's defense and speed. Thinking Goodra will always switch out, I always take at least one Dragon Dance in and start the happy sweeping with the Sunny Day boosted Fire Fang and STAB Dragon Claw.

257.gif

Vulcan (Blaziken) @ Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- High Jump Kick
- Protect
- Stone Edge

Speed Boost Protect Blaziken. OP. This thing in the Sun can NEVER be underestimated. Flare Blitz in the Sun with STAB doubles its power. Even after the recoil, I can just use Protect to heal some that I've lost. High Jump Kick is for late send in Tyranitar. If they sent the Tyranitar in late, Sand Stream takes over, which is when Blaziken comes through. Everyone just dies. Protect is obviously for the free Speed Boost. Then the Stone Edge is just a coverage for when Tyrantrum left. I've been using Charizard enough to know that it's a huge threat to any team.

Old Tyrantrum <3
697.png

Garyx (Tyrantrum) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Stealth Rock
- Head Smash
- Crunch

A lot of you might think why I would want Crunch instead of Dragon Claw. Crunch not only has the same amount of damage as Dragon Claw, but it also reduces Defense. When I want a dragon-type attack I can always find my baby Salamence to do these things. After seeing how my team doesn't have any dark-type attacks, Crunch is a good addition to it.

671.png

Chloris (Florges) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sunny Day
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Wish

My most supportive pokemon isn't that supportive. Although this is good enough for me I think. It can help reset the Sunny Day, even though it's mostly only for 3 pokemon, and it's a FAIRY TYPE POKEMON. HOW BIG OF AN ADDITION IS THAT? Dragon types are overrated like I said, Fairy types are always essential to have. Wish is sometimes to heal up and support other pokemon and Psychic is just another move that would seem to go good against Machamps or Gengars.

Please tell me what you think :)

Okay, so good news. I also run a Sun Team, so I know the deal! I know you like SolarBeam on Venusaur, but with the nerf and Sand in a lot of places, Giga Drain is much better and reliable. I also suggest HP Fire over Sleep Powder for Steel Types like Ferrothorn and opposing Scizor that will try and wall you. In addition, a Timd Nature with 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 Special Attack 180 Speed is better. It lets you live a Mammoswine's Ice Shard after Stealth Rock and ko with Giga Drain. Also it lets you hits 528 Speed in Sun, enough to outspeed Scarf Latios. SolarBeam is really only good on your Charizard. And a Life Orb would help your Venusaur a lot, and with Giga Drain, the recoil isn't so bad.

I would use HP Ice for Charizard instead of Dragon Pulse, in order to hit Dragonite and Garchomp harder, as well as Landorus and Gliscor.

Use Bug Bite on Scizor. Swords Dance and U-Turn are counterproductive.

Last but not least, I strongly suggest Swords Dance over Stone Edge on your Blaziken. Blaziken has no business staying in on Talonflame, anyway, and Swords Dance turns him into a scary strong sweeper.

Actually I lied, what I just said wasn't last. Last is change Psychic on Florges to HP Ground. Ground plus Fairy has great coverage.

I really hope that I helped. Much Ludvisc!

Thank you deadflame! There's one thing though... I am playing on my 3DS and I'm kinda new to competitive battling and stuff. The main point is that I don't know how to breed pokemon with specific hidden power :( can anyone enlighten me on this?

Hmm. I only play on Pokemon Showdown. I know it's the IV's, but have no idea what IV's are needed. I would ask someone else around here, or look it up on Serebii, or on Pokemon Showdown. I hope I helped!
