Sunny Days down in NU

NU team I've been working so hard on. Currently peaked at #54 on the ladder, aiming for top 5. A quick look at the team:

And now, the full team:

Volbeat (M) @ Heat Rock
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Sunny Day
- Encore
- Tail Glow
- Baton Pass

My main sun summoner, used for its Prankster Sunny Day. Heat Rock gives me 8 turns of sun so my Chlyrophyll Pokes can sweep that much longer. I'll lead with him to get up sun right away. If I'm lucky, they'll use a support move and I can lock them into it with Encore, than Tail Glow on the switch and Baton Pass the boost to one of my 3 special sweepers (Victreebel, Exeggutor, or Magmortar). Usually I'm not that lucky, so he'll get up the sun and get out to summon it again later and maybe even pass a boost. If I can pull off a pass to Victreebel than it's usually gg.

Regirock @ Heat Rock
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Sunny Day
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Punch
- Stone Edge

My backup sun summoner, also equiped with Heat Rock. Very useful for setting up Stealth Rock, my team's only form of entry hazards. Stone Edge is its main STAB move, which can leave a dent in most Pokes, and Fire Punch get reasomable coverage with rock, plus it gets a nice boost in sun.

Exeggutor (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Sunny Day
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- SolarBeam

My main sun sweeper. Solarbeam is its main STAB mvove, and is immensly poweful. HP Fire gets decent coverage and a Psuedo-STAB boost in sun, although it is walled by fires. Sunny Day allows it to continue sweeping in case the sun wears out. Generally, on the last turn of sun, I'll use Sleep Powder while I still outspeed, than set up sun again while they are imobilized or switch out.

Victreebel (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Growth
- Weather Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- SolarBeam

My secondary special sweeper, and my personal favorite. It's also my main Baton Pass recipitent. If Victreebel can manage to pull off a Growth, that's awesome, but it can sweep just fine without. SolarBeam is its main attacking move, which decimates anything that stands in its way. Weather Ball becomes a 100 BP Fire-type move in sun, and get great coverage with Grass. Sludge Bomb is a secondary STAB, and is mainly used to hurt Flying-types.

Leafeon (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Sunny Day
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Return

My last Chlorophyll sweeper and my only physical one. It can easily switch into any physical attack with that monstourous 130 base defense and Swords Dance on the switch. After an SD and with sun up, it reaches 700 attack and 578 speed, and can sweep entire teams. Leaf Blade is the STAB move of choice, while Return gets good nuetral coverage with Grass. It's walled by steel types, but after Magneton and Klinklang being bumped up, Steels are just about non-existent in NU, so it isn't really a problem.

Magmortar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Fire Blast

My revenge killer. Fire Blast is the main attacking move, and it hurts just about everything in sun, bar Flash Fire users. The other move are mostly filler. Thunderbolt is for waters, Focus Blast hits rocks, and HP Ice hits Altaria.

That's all. I'd like input on it, so please post your ideas. I want to make it perfect so I can top the ladder. And feel free to copy it if you'd like to test it out, but remember, when people say how much they love it, let them know that it's Copyright of SevilitheArcanine :D

I really like this team, man :)
Your main problem is that Volbeat gets OHKO'd by any Fire move, especially in the sun, and that really causes problems. Even though you have the sun already up for 8 turns, you won't be baton passing or encoring anything with a dead Volbeat on the field. Just something to be careful of. I really don't have any suggestions except for that I really would recommend you replace Sunny Day on Leafeon with X-Scissor. It allows you to tackle other Grass-types (Jynx is also OHKO'd by it) and, well, it's a tough choice on your part. You can trade out a 4th Sunny Day summoner for bonus type coverage, or just keep the Sunny Day on it. The problem with Sunny Day and Swords Dance on the same set allows the opponent to get a free switch into whatever they want. If you only have to go for Swords Dance and not both, you can catch the opponent off guard. Guess it's all up to you, but the only other thing I can say is this is a great team! :)

You are fire weak, if you can work around that and abuse Regirock's ability to be a fire resist then your team will do great,

X-scissor, huh? Thing is, most Pokes weak to Bug take enough damage already Leaf Blade/Return. Plus I really like being able to get up more sun if I need it. I'll have to think about that.

And as for Volbeat, I really like having a Prankster Sunny Day user, and I think it's the only prankster user in NU other than it's female counterpart, Illumise, but I'll have to look into that.

Oh hey Finchy! I am fire weak arn't I? Didn't even notice. I'm really starting to consider a new Sunny Day summoner over Volbeat, but one that can still abuse the sun. Any suggestions?

Think pokemon wiht Flash Fire, not a big NU guy...so I don't know what but I can just generally anylasize that you need a better fire resistence.

Flash Fire....Maybe a Rapidash? It can spam boosted Flare Blitz's and recover with Morning Sun, but it couldn't afford a moveslot to set up Sun. I'll think about it. Also considering a new Volbeat moveset and potentially replacing Exeggutor.

EDIT: Alright, gonna try a new Volbeat moveset:

Volbeat (M) @ Heat Rock
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Sunny Day
- Encore
- Thunder Wave
- Moonlight/Seismec Toss/U-Turn/Baton Pass

No idea what to put in Volbeat's last slot. Also, gonna try and replace Exeggutor with this guy:

Rapidash (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Morning Sun
- Low Kick
- Wild Charge
- Flare Blitz

That should help, replacing a Fire Weakness with a Fire Immunity, although I worry about only having 2 chlorophyll sweepers. I want to get the most out of sun.

EDIT: Volbeat's last slot is now Baton Pass

Well, there's Prankster Murkrow, or if you want to be a little more risky, Cottonee (a few too many Grass-types though). If Rapidash isn't your cup of tea, I also recommend a Flame Charge Emboar to take advantage of the strongest unboosted Flare Blitz in the tier that can become dangerous in the sun. It also is hit neutrally by Stealth Rock so you won't compound the damage it does to your team. Of course, if the risk of having 5 Flying weak Pokes troubles you, then stick with Rapidash.

Pretty good Sun team, my first NU team was a Sunny Day one and I know how deadly they can be. I don't think you need 4 Sunny Day users though; Leafeon's got better options for team support, so I'd replace Sunny Day on it with either Synthesis for fast healing, or Heal Bell for anti-paralysis support. Sun teams are crippled by paralysis, and since you lack a Ground type like Camerupt or Quagsire to take the Thunder Waves, having a cleric would actually be pretty useful for the time.
